If this is a bad place to post this, let me know, but frankly, I'd rather see a [H] user who can appreciate this monitor snag this than some lucky idiot.
I just saw this posted to ebay... (no, I am not associated with the seller)
NEC Multisync LCD2690WUXi 26" 1920x1200 LCD Monitor...
If you're MOSTLY playing games and want the X-Fi compatibility, then stick with your current Creative card.
If you are MOSTLY listening to music or movies, then the Asus STX may prove to be better, plus it has an amplifier built into the headphone out port.
Just one perspective, wait for a...
Are you wanting to set up one card with TOS/COAX to your DAC for headphone listening, and then ANALOG outputs to your speakers for 5.1+ movies and game listening. So that you can just switch output modes in the control panel depending on your task?
You could also try USB output to your DAC...
Dont forget a pop filter if you're doing voice work.
The little Samson GoMic is surprising clear and sensitive with options for switching directional on the fly and it has a headphone monitor plugin. And its small...

You could keep your setup as is and just get a male to female extension cable...
leave the female end up on your desktop/workarea and connect the male end into your STX.
That way you can swap headphones on the fly.
Or are you saying that you want to swap between headphone and speakers...
Yes, a dedicated "quality" soundcard will give you better digital to analog conversion for analog output to your headphones or speakers. And the drivers and control panel for the sound card will give you more sound control options/effects. Also, a dedicated sound card may take some of the...
FOR MOVIES & MUSIC... I have a quadraphonic surround sound setup from my HT Omega audio card that goes analog front out to M-Audio SBX10 subwoofer, then from there to two M-Audio BX8a front speakers. The HT Omega analog surround goes out to two Swans D1080MKII speakers in the rear. Maybe this...
Heya kur1j,
I have Ultrasone HFI-2200, and Pro 650, and Pro 750, and Pro 900.
All of them are low impedance and can be used WITHOUT an amplifier.
But I have noticed, as cited on head-fi and other forums, that the 750 and 900 do perform better WITH an amplifier (I have Little Dot Mark V solid...
I've got the D1080MKII and they are very good. The D1080MKII08 is a newer version and probably even better. They are bigger than the M10 and as suggested, if you wanted more bass, you can get a subwoofer added later. But given the technically challenged audience, its unlikely she is going to...
As ave0000 noted, you should always have an ambient light on during nighttime computer use where you are working and reading or even playing a game that requires you to read and focus intently on the screen. This is best done by having overhead lights or desk lights, or a light pointed at the...
Agreed, it sounds like you might be experiencing a USB device mounting or unmounting continuously.
Computer troubleshooting Step #1, is the computer power cord plugged in?
Computer troubleshooting Step #2, if everything else plugged in properly?
Check your USB cable to computer connections...
If you read the comments on Tom's Hardware for this article you will see the author replying to someone that his criteria for this selection was "high-end 2.0 speakers (assuming ACTIVE speakers)" and "he contacted a bunch of manufacturers to see if any of them would like to contribute product...

Hey,
I have two mics that I can recommend, both are USB (work on mac or pc).
The USB mic means that you do not need to have a dedicated sound card
or processing and can even use them with laptops.
Samson Go Mic ($50 new, $20+ used)...
I had OCZ DDR3 1600Mhz ram in my i7 machine and had trouble stablilizing it at 1600 with advertised timings.
Plugged in Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz ram, set the BIOS to default, set the XMP profile.
BOOM.... 1600 MHz stable. Corsair has never failed me.
I just received two Dell U2410 IPS monitors (two weeks ago), for my office and they are both crisp, no dead pixels, no tint problems. There is some backlight bleed as expected, but I'm rarely looking at dark screens. I'm also glad to have 16:10 1920x1200 aspect ratio which is getting harder to...
I experienced the same audio epiphany when I got my Swans speakers. Since then I've upgraded my whole computer system and added the HT Omega Claro + audio card (then upgraded to M-Audio monitors). I am most definitely not an audiophile, but even my layperson ears have been able to tell the...
I have a DoubleSight 263N with a 4-port USB hub + Windows 7.
I can view all 4 ports fine once the machine is in windows. It will even auto remount USB devices when I turn off the monitor power button and turn it back on. BUT... I cannot boot to windows while something is attached to that USB...
I have an original DoubleSight DS-263N and recently set up a favorite on Ebay to watch for DS-263N items that appear thinking if I was lucky I could upgrade my second monitor and get rid of the Samsung 226CW.
Last week TWO DS-263N auctions appeared on reseller list. Both DS-263N Open Box but...
If you just need a couple inches, go with Auralex foam pads. They are tapered also so that you can angle the speakers slightly up or down depending on location etc. The added bonus is that they dampen vibration that could be transferred to the desk itself.
Anyone have any experience with the WD 4TB external raid?
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=621
With no specifications on the drives inside, I'm assuming this is a pair of the current WD 32-bit cache green caviar 2TB drives and not the newer WD enterprise revalidated 64-bit...
I have the EVGA x58 SLI motherboard (first edition, not the Classified LE) and I'm running Windows 7. The motherboard and OS may not be necessary to answer this question
.
I know that you can configure the motherboard raid controller for multiple internal hard drives, but I was wondering if...
If you have Micro$oft Windows, it could have been an Windows Update that modified your onboard audio drivers. Or perhaps a recent application such as a video game may have turned some switch while in-game and didn't turn that switch back when the game was closed.
Or it could be lack of sunspots...
If I try this method to fix an old video card and thinking to conserve energy,
I simultaneously bake a tray of cookies ... will my cookies taste funny or
will my video card smell like cookies when its back in my computer...
or both?
Seriously though, I'd like to see a spreadsheet of the...
I had the same issue when I got my new speakers. Quality reveals imperfections.
Turns out my issue was due to a RAM issue. As soon as I added more ram, the problem went away. Though you should check the bitrate on those MP3s and see if they are too low.
Thanks for the link Zero82z
I was basing my numbers off this chart:
http://archive.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=7&t=9354
Though I see an error in my selection, I was looking at the dualGPU version "4870x2" in crossfire.
Dual "regular" 4870 in crossfire, on this chart is 128W - 255W
stinkboots... check your wattage and amp needs (refer to the video card specs) and ALSO look at the cabling on the power supply. The earthwatts PSU you listed only has ONE 6+2PCIexpress connector, so depending on the motherboard and video cards, Crossfire may not be possible with that PSU.
If...
