I can't seem to find anyway to lower the HT or NB multi in uefi. I've been able to hit 3.3ghz with 235 fb, but can't get higher than that.
I've tried on the software side with their tuner program, but even when I lower the HT multi nothing happens and AMD overdrive won't let me change any...
I am not interested in Bulldozer, I plan to keep my 1055T for at least the next two years. I want to switch boards to use ddr3, increase my cpu overclock, and sata 3. So what board would be best for my needs? Also no cf or sli. Thanks in advance
Sorry for the hijack, but what is a decent AM3 board for about $100. Looking at ASRock and Asus mainly, since everyone seems to denounce MSI for the X6 (though mine runs just fine). Specs in sig, plus 2x4gb 1333 ram and am not particularly interested in xfire or sli.
Currently looking at...
I went the ebay route, though you can always sell through the forum. I sold my 720 for $70 something, so if you can get that for the cpu and each gpu, you'd be closer to a 5850 than 5870, unless you can find a really good used deal.
Man I really need to improve my load times. Always something.
edit-sicklown, mind running it with your 5870 oc'ed, since we have similar setups(cpu, ddr2). Want to see how my 5850 stacks up.
I don't know the resell value of the 4870, but upgrading to a 5850 from a 260 only cost me $120 after selling the old card. An sli setup would've cost me about the same and I prefer a single gpu. Though for you, a new 4850 only cost about $80-90, so I see the benefit.
If I were the op, I'd...
Yeah it supports 16.5 multi for turbo. Haven't tried ocing without turbo enabled yet, maybe this weekend. I'll probably be limited with the beta bios I'm using.
1. 3360MHz/3960MHz
2. Only ran Prime95 for 3hrs, then straight to gaming :p
3. MSI 790XT-G45. Bios 2.4B2 (beta)
4.
FSB 240 x14x/ Turbo 16.5x
FSB 240
HT 2400MHz
With CNQ 1.25-1.475v
Ram 2.1v, NB 1.175V
Turbo on
5. Hyper 212 (dual fans)
6. ??? Either 37C/50C or 25C/38C

Or 236.78 after BCB. Only comes with a 3 month warranty, no fancy packaging, etc..
Visiontek 5850 for 309.99 or $271.86 after BCB...
Yeah I have DDR2 on hand. My board doesn't appear to be compatible with thubans, according to the manufacturer's list, though they never added the Athlon II 620/30 which did work.
I'm definitely going to try it out on my board first, but either way I wanted to see what my options were.
So, I'm looking for a x6 compatible mobo, but I don't really want to upgrade to DDR3 yet. What are my best options? Or is this just a dumb idea?
Specs will be:
CPU:1055T
GPU: 5870
RAM: 2x2Gb 1066
PSU: 750TX
Any help or input is appreciated.
What I was asking was if I purchased a new Visiontek through ebay, would they honor the warranty?
Just found an XFX 5850BE for $300 after BCB...might bite, but now I'm itching for a 5870.
The only concern I have with the XFX card is that its a non reference card. I saw some new Visionteks on ebay, but I assume I wouldn't qualify for the warranty since its not through a retailer. Is this right?
So I sold of my card, and after telling myself I could wait for prices to stabilize, I'm getting the itch (not even two days). Aside from ebay, what are some good deals on these cards...
I purchased the card for $145 amir (oh how I miss rebates), so if I can get $100 for it I see no harm in selling it. Now I just have to wait a couple of months for some decent 58xx prices.
Just checked my auction and its at $53, with 6 days left.
Everest, speed fan, and AOC read the same. (+/-1C)
CPU: 19-21C
Core 1-3: 19.8-20.5C
Going to look at the Bios readings again tomorrow, but I recall them being about the same. Also, ambient temp is 21C/70F if that matters.
Never used BCB, probably won't unless the card is already reasonably price. Yeah, I think I'm going to sell it off this week, probably ebay. Guess it's no gaming or indie gaming for me.
