Just wanted to give an update...
I got an email from Western Digital because I had reached out to them and here is their response.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences. In regards to your case the drives on the My Book Pro where upgraded to WD Gold because of better performance on...
Yeah I have 2x 4TB REDs...but for video editing they are just not quite where I need them to be due to the 5400RPM speed. Great drives...and I will keep them for archiving!
Yeah, just wanted to make sure that if they weren't necessarily better, then at least comparable to the BLACK as that is the main reason I went with this unit.
Well thats just the thing...this IS user serviceable. And even the manual says only WD BLACK are to be used. Again, not really complaining, just trying to figure out the WD advertising on this. WD BLACK drives are mentioned in 3 separate places...their own product video, their user manual...
No of course, and I agree with you...and the drives themselves have the 5 yr warranty...but i dont know about the unit as a whole. I just wasnt 100% sure about performance, but thats only because I have used BLACKS before and i'm just not familiar with these enterprise drives.
No, its not backup storage at all. Quite the opposite. This will be my main video editing drive that I will be directly editing video off of via Thunderbolt 2. Need fast drives (yes, I know i could go SSD, etc but thats not an option for me.)
Ok, that is good to know at least. Haven't had much time to look into it to be honest, but that sounds promising. Was still a little surprised to see those, however. Since the SE Drives seemed to be geared towards 24/7 operation, I was worried if shutting down my PC every night would be an...
Well thats the thing...I am currently using the last gen My Book Duo and that has 2x WD REDs, but at least that one didnt specify what drives would be included. I recently learned that the REDs only run at 5400 RPM which is why I opted for this new My Book Pro because its advertised to have 2x...
So I bought the 6TB WD My Book Pro advertised as coming with 2 WD BLACK 7200 RPM Hard Drives. GREAT! Just what I wanted.
However, Upon opening the enclosure to take a look at the drives...they are NOT WD BLACK drives! They are in fact WD SE ENTERPRISE "data center" drives. WTF!?
Not sure...
I have notived that on mine as well. I find that if you try and put the whole PAD of your finger surrounding the buttons, they seem to responded better as opposed to just using the ti[p of you finger.
Hope that helps!
Hmm....I still have a red stuck pixel, however I definitely notice the green/pink tint issue is not as bad as my first monitor. Not as bad at all to be honest. Had it not been for the stuck pixel, this would be a keeper!
It almost makes me think if I could deal with the pixel instead of...
On top of my stuck pixel...I now get these horizontal lines that flicker once in awhile. It looks like they travel from the bottom to the top of my screen. Anyone else having this issue?
Jim
Just throw up a medium grey solid background. If you have the green/pink issue, like me....the lower left half of the screen should appear greenish, while the upper right corner will be more of a pinkish tint. The tint fades into each other on a diagonal, so in the middle of the screen, you...
The screen picture is not so much grainy (unless your in sRGB or AdobeRGB mode on a very dark image) but its more of an "anti-reflective" coating that they put on the monitor that causes it to look like there are little crystals on the screen. I dont know if a camera would be able to pick it up...
About a year ago I purchased 2 DELL 2007FP's, both having an IPS panel and in my opinion are AMAZING monitors. When i first got them I was really disturbed by the "graininess" effect. But I have to tell you, after using them for a year, it has totally disappeared. Its not gone, i just mean i...
I would definitely go for it. I mean, for me...other than a stuck pixel I COULD live with the green/pink tint issue. Luckily I am getting a replacement as we speak to take care of the pixel, maybe ill be lucky and get a more uniform screen. If not, it might not be worth the hassle with trying...
Well, in my case...the color discrepancy is a tint that fades from green to pink. If this was all one color, i could see how calibration could solve this probably. But unfortunately there is no way to calibrate "parts" of the screen.
Yes. Im still waiting for mine...they sent mine to the wrong address, dont ask how. Instead of just sending me a new one, and picking up the other...they are picking up the other one, then bringing it to me.
Actually i wont be doing any gaming on it. I do video editing and motion graphics, 3D stuff, etc. I was just wondering if it would be smart to put the 2 smaller monitors on the 280 since its a more powerful card...it would run DUAL monitors better. Or in this case, does it really matter...?
Jim
Ill keep this short and simple....
I have a GTX280(1GB RAM) and GTX260(896MB RAM) video card.
I also have a 24" monitor as my main display AND 2-20" monitors as my "wing" displays.
I wont be doing any SLI so my question is...
Do I hook the larger 24" monitor to my more powerful...
I was able to do it once before, but it was on a shitty TN monitor. Maybe the DELL being an IPS panel its not possible. I'm actually starting to get used to the pixel, but obviously if I can return it, I will.

Haha, well yeah, you know what I meant. Yeah, i definitely have all the numbers I would need. Serial numbers, PPID number, model number, etc. Calling them was going to be my next step.
Thanks!
Jim
I got my U2410 a few days ago...thought i would share....
I actually purchased the monitor brand new from an EBAY company for $515 USD, stating that they did not accept returns as it was a brand new item with a 3 year warranty. I emailed the company and they said that they don't accept returns...
Ok great! Thank you.
While I have you guys here...I mainly do motion graphics work and 3d animation using After Effects and Cinema 4D, etc...I don't do any gaming so would I benefit form an SLI setup? I also heard awhile ago you cant do 3 monitors in SLI..has that changed?
thanks again

Hey Guys,
I am looking to add a third display to my setup, which will require an additional video card. I currently have a GTX 280. Do I have to get another GTX 280, or can I get the 295 for example. Or does it even really matter since I am more concerned with adding another display more...
Yeah....i can hit DEL now too. Very weird...I definitely remeber hitting F8 at some point in my trying to fix it which solved the problem so maybe its just back to normal. I really have no explanation for this.
Thanks, things are running great... well...except for the eSATA issue
Jim
Wow...very weird. I fixed it. I guess the new BIOS uses a different key to get into the main BIOS screen. I used to hit DEL...now i have to hit F8...strange. Anyways I am all set and I appreciate your being helpful. Thank You.
Jim
Thats actually part of the problem...I cant get into my normal BIOS screen. When I enter BIOS i get a very different looking BIOS...with hardly any options. I know enought to change my HD controllers, etc, I just cant get to anything that I can change.
Hey guys,
I have the ASUS P6T Deluxe mobo. I just flashed to the newest (1403) BIOS update. After reboot I can no longer get into windows, and I get a really limited, different BIOS interface than before. It was saying no hard drives, exist, etc when all I did was update the BIOS..I never...
