Hey guys, just decided to swap my profile over to HardOCP as this team seems more active and engaged.
Are 'we' currently involved in project specific competitions or any coming up?
Bringing in two machines:
4x E-4650 Xeons
4x 6174 Opterons (Down right now CEP2 Killed its SSD over the last...
Hey all.
A little confused what team to change to if I wanted to start throwing points for HardOCP.
There are two teams "HardOCP" and "[H]ard|OCP" is there a difference?
Just thought I'd ask here, does anyone currently crunch with the AMD A10 7850K etc APUs? I'm assuming you can task the 4 cores and the GPU to BOINC and utilize the full apparent 800+ GFLOPs.
Reason I'm asking is it's new toy season for myself and I'm thinking of doing something different...
Australia, 22-24 cents / KWH here. Wow, you've got it cheap!
Alright, I'll have a think about it before I pull the trigger... could just about build 2 more 6174 rigs for the same price.
Well, I got my first 4P 6174 @ 2.5~ GHz up and running and now I'm addicted, I managed to get the 6174s for $150 USD / Each so I think I got a pretty good deal....
How does the E5-4650s @ $540 USD compare? Should I jump on them or opt for more 617Xs at around the $250~ range? Going the Intel...
Thanks for this guys, (Even if I get a big [H] on boot up now :P)
Another 4P 6174 @ 2.64Ghz up and running. Might try to push harder at the end of the week. People had much luck pushing these higher? Perfect little heater for some of these 3 degree nights in Australia at the moment.
Just...
Agree with the Patriot Autobahn but because I got a couple of these to run on my dedicated GPU rigs instead of buying a HDD as they were cheap.... well the transfer rate must be HORRID. Took overnight to install windows, and rebooting would easily take 20 minutes ~ not even exaggerating.
Wow, odd. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I've BIOS flashed mine to disable Turbo boost etc and run at a certain Mhz/Vcore? Who knows. Out of curiosity I'll try it for 24 hours on my two GPU rigs and report back! :)
I'm seeing opposite results on all my 780s.
As you said the GPU usage doesn't seem to be 100% for me anymore, old drivers it would 98% ~ until 2% checkpoint and drop. Now it seems to go from 91-98% all the time.
Just a heads up about Bad_State_Detected. I was getting them every so often like everyone else when I was running with the 780s Overclocked to 1110 Mhz.
I've now reflashed the cards with a modified BIOS that disabled Turbo-Boost and fixes the voltage and have the cards running permanently at...
When listing the GFX cards it returns NVIDIA TITAN for all 4 cards even though they're 780s. I assume that's a GK110 issue.
Installing like below works, but on reboot all GUI is missing CTRL+ALT+T works but errors keep poping up or windows appearing outside the screen. Also are they are the...
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to get my dedicated folding box to run with my 780s in Ubuntu but I get no option for driver installation in proprietary drivers and installing them manually with the .run file seems to break my UI completely (I'm Linux noob)
If I dual boot with my main rig (690 GTX...
You're on the money Carbon, booting into Linux ( which can only get Core17) my GPUs just get;
Confirmed in foldingforums that 8900 is out of work :( 8901 has a project page going but no ETA on it.
Oh well, keep crunching anyway
Did anyone else just pick up a bunch of Core 15 work with beta flag on? My 4 cards have been running Core 17 for weeks now just fine the last units they returned each of them picked up a Core 15 WU. Odd.
Sorry to Nercro the thread but I think I have an issue with the 3rd 780 GTX I just picked up. Out of the box placed it on +200 Mhz like my other 2 and it worked great through out the night.
On the particular WU is is crunching at the moment it goes as normal with a TPF of 3:00~ every 10-15%...
Look at those SM Gateway board for $499 US + Postage.
G34 4P still viable? Tax time is on it's way and I'm debating over a 4P or more GPUs. Looked around but what are the current PPD figures for say 4x 6128 vs 4x 6176? Expecting power draw to be under 1kw either way. Obviously if I go 4P I'll...
I would agree with Musky, it's what I've done. The benefit on the GPU folder especially for nVidia is that you can use a low spec CPU to power them and more importantly (Correct if I'm wrong guys) Linux doesn't seem to support Boost or overclocking. My 780 folded a great deal slower in Linux...
Liger, without being apart of the Beta Team I can't know for certain but 7663 should be released to -advanced soon enough and which point just have -advanced instead of -beta and you'll dodge the 8900s
AndyE,
psummaryC has been updated with all the information. Looks like your Titans are pulling ahead of the 780 now... I'm getting TPF of 2:55 with PPD @ 169k.
Curiously, my 690s/680 haven't gotten a single one of these WUs, might only before for GK110?
Alright great thanks for that. Slightly off-topic but given their current performance and my financial position at the moment I'd be looking at getting another 780 or 2 within the next week pending stock.
My question to you would be cost and power wise, it would be cheaper to build 2 systems...
AndyE are the Titans in a system with the Celeron?
In my experience due to the CPU Intensive workload of Core17 on nVidia there's benefit in OCing your CPU a little higher. Even on my 3930k @ 3.2Ghz with the 780 @ 1175 (No Mem OC) it won't go below 1:09-1:10. With a bump up to 4.0 It drops to...
You're not wrong though AndyE especially in Australia the 780 cost me $830 where as he TITANS are selling for $1300.... Although I'm thinking that as OpenCL support gets better AMD might pull ahead quite considerably just like they are in all the other OpenCL things.
Here is the HFM readout...
140k Seems a little low... my 690s are getting 80kppd per core @ 1215 Mhz.
Pretty sure AndyE has gotten his TITANs to 160k ~ which would make sense, the only difference is 13/14 SMX Units unless I'm missing something.
I got the only one in stock, a reference Gigabyte Model.
Well, I'd say about 215W ~
Used to just have the 690 + 3930k going drawing 600watts ~ now I'm sitting at 808 +/- 15.
As a side note, left it going overnight but with SMP off, the 780 dropped down to 1:06 / frame @ 153kppd, even with...
I was at my local PC shop buying some Blank DVDs and decided to buy a 780GTX for folding as well.
Currently have it boosted to 1175Mhz, beyond that it intermittently throttles down to stock clocks which slows things down more than it's worth.
I'll let it run for 12 hours and see if anything...
I love you AndyE haha, if something sounds OK you just go buy it so the rest of us can see from your experiments.
Keep us updated... I was bouncing back and forward between buying a Titan today but if the 780 is just as good might as well grab that.
Done deal then, It's one with the rear exhaust vent like the nVidia cards and the Mobo I have should take 3 of them stacked if I wish to upgrade over time.
If the AMD doesn't smash the CPU usage like my nVidia does then I mgith look into a 3770k for a bit of a PPD boost aswell.
Thanks for the...
Sorry if this information is hiding in plain sight but I've just been offered a 7970 for $150 AUD and the owner is buying a 780GTX.
Can anyone confirm that the PPD is as stated @ 110k PPD for the card? when running -beta Core_17
I can't put it in my main rig as that's already a 3930k + 690 GTX...
Setted on 6174s and two of them are arriving this week.
I'm pushing ahead with the final order from Koolance, getting all 4 Waterblocks and will have them installed so I can easily lift them back off and place a CPU under them when I buy the next 2.
From what I'm reading qutie a few guys...
Well the cards aint working @ 100% Probaby not using all 1536 cores of the new cards. Think someone on the folding forum was saying they only use 384 cores because it picks it up as a 460ti. Don't know how true that is.
No chance 40k until maybe they are optimized.
You can get V7 running on 680s by running with the client-type:beta configuration on the slot. My 680s are pulling 22k each but they're running cool and not using 100%.
