wow, thanks much for your input! it is very appreciated :D looks like Im going with yr suggested case - might have to expose the side, which is not a big issue to me, just put a box fan up next to it. we will try first with no fan, and with to see the difference.
excellent! I am definately going with the PSU + mobo combo, good catch
what do u think about this case or this one? beings we are going to have 4x PCI-E video cards, this thing is going to get HOT (!)

Again, really happy this review was done! So, I'm going to build a new miner, this time going for multi-gpu (above 2x), obviously it's going to be ATI/AMD GPU - figured we'd go with the suggestion from this article = 6870's, specifically QUAD-GPU! Moved the build post here, so as not to clutter...
I cannot believe I forgot to say thank you! :eek:
I am very thankful for all the assistance, gracias - once u said to post the logs I had a face-palm moment... W(hy)TF didn't i think of logs?! well played, indeed - good show :D
GPU0 log
GPU1 log
no, currently I do not have HFM.net setup, maybe after I get off work I will get this setup... in the meantime, do those logs help diagnose? to me it sure seems like it's doing something
I have a question regarding multi-GPU, I have followed this document to the T multiple times, and just re-did things again today... no matter what I do, GPU-Z and EVGA Percision show GPU2 with 0% usage?! :confused:
I swear back when I first started I used to see BOTH GPUs show ~100% usage...
very cool contest! so this will be my first F@H attempt... I have a couple questions, hopefully someone can help me out before may 1st :confused:
I am running windows 7 x64 ultimate on this boxen, I have a GTX285 and a 9800 GTX (original) plus a C2D Q6600 - I found this page High Performance...

wow, lot's of drama... just want to say, I've used NGOHQ's driver signature enforcement overrider tool and was elated to see that they released a Phys-X mod for ATI folk. it's sad to see one of my fav sites ([H]) ripping into these guys, as I think they are doing the community a favor by...
noooooooooooooooooooooooooo! guess it's time for surfthechannel.com to take over for watching these shows =( no more daily or colbert @ 480i
oh ... reading the comments here, I'm see that comedycentral will still carry the shows @ their site? I hope so
great catch furyagain - those guys know how to do a rigorous review! props for noticing it was out in german, and not english yet! figured I put the link here, as it took me a few to find it = german & german => english via google translate
notebookreview.com has just published the most extensive review (all-in-one page review) I've yet seen on the alienware m11x. I found that site thru this thread, and must say it's such a great site for laptops. props indeed :D
I'd like to ask a question, or 2.. is the processor on this laptop upgradable? I don't see this mentioned anywhere, if anything on the board is "manually upgradable"? the RAM, yeah, one would think so - and a hard drive/blutooth... but what about the CPU specifically?
I am not as familiar with...
I just had to chime in, I really like the sound of using MAME as a legit CPU test... that my friend is genius. I have never heard of doing this as a benchmark, so I thank u very much for this gem. I want to try this now very much!
score, I loves me some [H] forums! thank u for that link! .. a...
thanks for the posts everyone, it has helped me in my decision. i pulled the trigger and went for the m11x - same thing as zerazax, but 500GB hard drive, and 3 year advanced warranty. its costing some cash, but I think it's worth it imho.
(oh, and Im quite excited to check out the a/b/g/n 2x2...
greetz all,
I'm quite happy to find that HardOCP forums has a recent post on the alienware m11x, which is just the laptop I am looking to buy. BUT, I wanted to get an opinion from the HardOCP community before I pull the trigger to purchase this thing.#1 Dell is telling me that if I buy today...
well guys, looking into things further... you both are dead on! by looking at the EVGA product sheets for the basic GTX 285 2GB, the GTX 285 2GB SC, and the GTX 260/SP216 video cards you get this ;
RAM Speed:
GeForce GTX 285 2GB => 2322Mhz (effective)
GeForce GTX 285 2GB SC => 2376Mhz...
indeed, the EVGA step-up process tells it like so ;;
that bites... so, guess I am going this route = GeForce GTX 285
thank you vengence for pointing that out! that saved alot of heartache and a call to thier call center!
-peace-
I'm wondering how I can (if even possible) output sound from my stereo/receiver (SONY STR-DE597) thru my new gateway XHD3000 monitor which has a 8-speaker speaker bar? I am essentially wanting to add the speaker bar on my XHD3000 monitor to my 6.1 surround sound... my computer is currently...

Now, I've yet to try this driver out... can't wait to get home to try it! DDL support, finally!
well, well... bringing back the dead thread! I am hoping someone here @ [H]Forum can tell me if this is a legit way to test my XHD3000 @ 2560x1600, while my CRT monitor is @ 1600x1200... this time I think I got it right.
I found 2 applications = UltraMon + StopWatch 2009
If one sets up 2x...
no one, eh? I located this application = StopWatch.de "BASIC" - it shows 1/1,000th seconds, works perfect for 2x multi-monitor setup! one stopwatch is used, with a single start button. the stopwatch runs on monitor #1, and is fully zoomable with CONTROL+Z (u can blow it up full-screen if wanted)...
no luck there, it's looking like if one uses "clone mode" you are required to use the same resolution, no if, and's, or but's = no options from everything I am seeing. I could be wrong, but everything I have read indicates just this.
I still don't know if this is a valid test or not, but I've...
well, after multiple uninstall/reboots, reinstall/reboot - and many variations of that process, even a couple trips to safe mode. I tried suggestions from other websites and forums and mixed in all suggestions from this thread... I tried to boot with one monitor connected via dual-dvi...
