so i was looking at the hot deals thread and saw the gtx 480. from what i've seen, it should be a 60-100% increase depending on the game. is that about accurate? i figure i can sell my 4890 for ~$100 to put the end cost down to the ~$150 range.
so my question is...is the performance really...
for the price, would the 480 be a good upgrade to my 4890? from what i've seen, it should be a 50-100% increase. does that sound about right?
edit: the other options would be to get something like a 5870, or even wait for the 7000 series this year. opinions on the best options for...
i need to be able to talk in vent for WoW, and so i can stop getting slaughtered in all the FPS LANs i go to. maybe if i can hear them coming, i won't suck as much?
actually, just got it figured out. you can actually do if/then statement.
here is what i found works for me:
if (Get-ChildItem $source -force | Where-Object {$_.mode -match "d"}) {Get-ChildItem $source -Recurse -Exclude $exclude | Copy-Item -Destination {Join-Path $fnlDest...
i'm pretty new to powershell, and haven't been able to figure out a solution to the following problem.
the company i work for need to retain files from terminated workers for a certain amount of time. i am trying to automate the task through a powershell script. for the most part i have it...
we actually just got a work around going with the set command.
i had heard that CHOICE is not supported in NT, but when we were working on the batch file in the Windows 7 RC, the CHOICE command is a valid and working command.
I am trying to set up a batch file with a menu. i have the menu listed, and am using the choice command. one option takes you to a second menu with a second choice command. for some reason, it is not taking the second input. it just skips over and doesn't seem to save the option anywhere...
it doesn't connect to wireless before authentication. that's the problem. we are trying to figure out a way to set wireless to activate first after log in and then run a batch file from AD.
the other issue is that the batch file is stored on a server. so the batch file doesn't even run when the person logs in. (I just found this out). the batch file is set in AD to run, not locally.
we thought about this too, but some of our machines take a long time to boot up (30 seconds to a minute...sometimes a lot more depending upon how much crap the person has installed) and it would be hard to come up with a consistent time that it would map for everyone.
so basically they have to click something to map the drives? we have something like that here, but we are trying to figure out/find a way to have the drives map automatically. we authenticate to AD as well, but is there a way we can tell when the machine actually connects to the wireless network?
where i work, we have quite a few laptops that connect to the network. we run a script at log on that basically maps all necessary drives for the user. the problem is that when people try to log on wirelessly, the drives don't map because the wireless doesn't start up right away. it just...
There is someone in my company that has used Syncback in the past without issue. He recently had a computer swap, and now Syncback will not burn anything to DVD. I don't remember the exact error, but basically, it seems like the computer is blocking Syncback from burning anything based on...
i strongly disagree. the no death penalty thing really bothered me. you just pick up right where you left off. they may as well have enabled an invincibility mode.
wait...isn't the point NOT to run windows? so bootcamp and a mac emulator running windows programs are out. so yeah...there'd be a few you wouldn't be able to run.
i have had 1 RROD, and 2 drive failures. i do not live in a dusty house, there is no smoke, and no kids playing the system. it is in an open air entertainment center (was a wood center, now i have one with glass).
also, 1 guy i work with has had 3 RROD, and 2 drive failures. another guy i...
ok...to be fair, neither one of those games was associated with the RROD, but both games did kill the drive. both of them started the "unable to read disc". it started popping up on games that never had the issue before
i'm on my 4th 360, but the only 2 games i remember killing..i'm sorry...the games i was playing that broke the box...were lost odyssey and madden '08. don't remember exactly what happened on the first repair
oh. sorry. didn't use the search here, but had just seen it as a news story.
yeah, i usually only buy 1 Madden game per console cycle. except this year....stupid EA putting Farve on the cover
I don't have the link (I am currently blocked from their site from work), but IGN had a story posted this morning about EA stating they would no longer develop Madden for the PC anymore due to piracy.
now...I realize that most madden games are roster updates each year, but there seems to be...
the problem with the 360 version is that i'm afraid it will break my xbox again. seems like almost every new game i get, i end up getting a disc read error, and i have to send my box in. it's happened 3 times to me already. i don't care about the achivements in this, or the DLC (probably will...
great. i typically only buy 1 football game per console gereration. i bought last years madden. i am a die hard packer fan though, so i may have to pick this up solely for the farve cover. maybe i'll even leave it wrapped up
i can't imagine it would be an entirely new city. it just wouldn't make sense from a rockstar perspective. if you look at SA/VC, it took them a while to produce the game. if they have that kind of a timeline for the DLC, they would be screwing themselves out of massive profits by not selling...
ok...i'm actually an idiot. even though there is no documentation in the gateway ref books, and i couldn't find it online, but i can run it in raid. going through my start menu, i found an intel matrix storage program. all i would have to do is click a button to make it either raid0, or...
not really hellbent on doing it. just thought it was supposed to be faster than single drives. just trying to figure out the options. and looking through gateway's info was not that helpful. i looked up the chipset info, and it says the g33 does support it, only if it's already set up...
how am i in over my head and lurking? because the first response was not constructive at all and i responded to it? i know people are all about building their own pcs here, but i couldn't wait for that, so i bought one and now i'm looking for some help.
the drives as far as i can tell are...
actually, i was going to build my own. the only reason i didn't was the fact that my other pc suddenly stopped working and i needed a new one. the gateway was actually about $100 diff from what i was going to build, and it had everything in it that i was planning on buying anyway. thanks...
ok...so i just bought this computer yesterday, as my old one died. i noticed that there are 2 HDDs in it, but they show as 2 seperate drives in vista. is there a way to put these into raid w/o screwing up the system? would they need to be in raid before i install the OS?
also, if i can put...
