Well, it seems that my search for a cheaper (as in price) basic laptop or notebook has become an exercise in frustration.
I'm looking for something reliable but basic, with XP installed on it, enough RAM that it runs smoothly (just generally; no heavy progs), doesn't need a huge drive...
Ok, I'll try to make this simple:
It's the perfect size laptop I'm looking for just to do very basic things with.
However, I need to do two things with it:
- install XP Pro
- upgrade the RAM
I've never worked on laptops before, so I've no idea how to even find out what RAM to get...
Is there a program similar to Rainlendar but that's a bit better, with more functionality and customization?
I run XP Pro and always have a ton of stuff to do, and I'm currently buried in sticky notes! :D

I just need a small and cheap (as in price) laptop that I can use for very basic stuff: email and random surfing, so I don't have to have my gaming rig(s) on all the time and be sitting at my desk.

Is there something up with Ad-Aware?
Or has my system been compromised in some way I...
Since these are two games both myself and my wife are into, I'm lumping them together in one thread, for those who have the info on both/either that I'm looking for:
Mercenaries 2:
How exactly will co-op work on PC?
Since we've never done that before, I don't know if it's via local IP...
Here's a "heads-up" for anyone that hasn't experienced this problem, in case they ever do, as it drove me nuts. Has anyone ever had this happen?
Apparently, when a widescreen (or maybe any LCD, though I've never seen nor hear of this) is about to die, one sign can be a sudden change in your...
Just posted something about it in another thread, and got me to thinking about it again since the beta I played recently.
Any new updates to the beta that show this promising title really coming into it's own?
As posted...
I tried out the beta a couple of weeks ago, and despite it still...
