To be honest, I wanted the Fuma 2 over the Mugen rev. b because I like the way it looks. I like the dual tower look and it has matte black top fins instead of polished metal. I was willing to pay $15 extra (33%) more for these features, which is unlike me, but I'm happy with what I got.
I was...
I went and bought a Fuma 2 and am very happy with it. I don't think this was a need to buy, I just had the itch. I was surprised how much quieter the Fuma 2 is, and also observed 12-13C lower temps in Prime 95. Also I had zero RAM clearance issues.
I tested the 212+ right before installing...
My case only supports max CPU cooler height of 160mm, so the Thermalright Macho and True Spirit 140 are both out because of height.
I'm located in Washington state, USA.
Thanks for the tip about measuring air temp in case. I'll keep an eye out for an inexpensive wired thermometer.
I'm currently running an i7-8700K bone stock with an old 212+. For whatever reason I did not feel like replacing the 212 when I built the new system last year, but now I've got the itch. I don't have a drive to overclock, just would like to bring CPU temp down if possible.
I get the impression...
Right now sitting at $51 plus UPS ground, 4 hours left on auction. Comes with retail box.

Got the card, it came in retail packaging! EVGA's warranty terms say you only get the card, no box or accessories back, so I got lucky there. Their warranty also says you get a factory refurb back on RMA cards, but I'll be danged if this one did not look brand new!
It's run games for about...
Guys it's the weirdest thing: replacement card is out for delivery today, and continually refreshing the UPS tracking page doesn't seem to nudge UPS to deliver any faster?
EVGA got my card today at 10:45am. At 5:10 pm I got an email notifying me I have a UPS shipment on the way from EVGA. Logging in to EVGA's website verified they are sending me a replacement card :D
I just got an Amazon warehouse deals EVGA 2080, it was displaying exact same symptoms you describe day one out of the box. I sent it in for RMA. To my limited knowledge if you are seeing space invader type artifacts in normal use, it's 98% likely a bad card. Sorry!

EVGA will get my video card today. I'll update when they determine their action on the RMA.
I'm a little uncomfortable being right at the manufacturer's minimum spec, though my review of various forums found lots of people saying their RTX 2080 system was fine with 650 watts.
I'd feel better with an extra 100-200 watts for breathing room.
I'm considering returning the 850W and getting...
I sent it to EVGA RMA yesterday. I should know by Wednesday next week what EVGA is doing for me.
The main reason I dealt with Amazon support first was to help make sure they have my back. They recommended I send the card to EVGA RMA. Now if EVGA tells me to kick rocks, I have a strong argument...
It is worth it to me to deal with RMA headaches to get a 2080 for $550. I have a much easier time enjoying things if I feel like I got them for a good price.
I'd previously planned to upgrade to a 2070, or maybe try to hold out until next generation. I've never had an '80 series card. But when...
That was crud, not damage to the PCI-E pins. I noticed it after posting and took canned air to the PCI-E fin on the card, and the PCI-E slot.
Thanks for calling attention to it!
Called EVGA last night, they recommended I try a different PSU to make sure problem is not power related. I picked up an 850 watt PSU at Best Buy (which I had been thinking I'd step up to anyways), new PSU didn't fix it. EVGA is starting their process to give me an RMA number.
I didn't show...
My 900 lives on with a friend who needed a cheap desktop to add a quadro card to for engineering software homework.
Someone always needs a cheap case or desktop.
I got it in 2006 when I built most of the original system on Best Buy discount. It started with a E6300 core 2, got a Q6700 next year...
I got an EVGA 2080 XC Ultra for $550 on amazon warehouse deals. It showed artifacts right away, and I'm trying to decide whether I should:
Return to Amazon for refund, get my $550 back but have to pay $100-150 more at least to get a working 2080
RMA to EVGA, get a working 2080, but may be some...
I've made 28% CAGR in the 3 property deals I've done since 2013. Most recent one brought the average down, I paid more for it than I would have otherwise because it was directly adjacent to my 2nd property, much easier management in long term. The first deal was 40% CAGR and second is 37% so...

Well I think we've pretty much come full circle at this point. It's nice to know there are people out there as well informed and thoughtful as you are!
True. My point was that I think it is more difficult to lobby for gaming the system in your favor if the system is designed to be applied evenly. If you have just a flat tax on income at 10%, applied to everyone, no matter how much or how little they make, it is hard to say "I deserve a break...
TwistedAegis, I see what you are saying. I would actually be totally OK with a progressive income tax system if you got rid of all the tax credits, deductions, subsidies, etc. One concern I have remaining about such a system is I do think it's important that all citizens have some skin in the...
What you are presenting is known as a false choice, exdriver. It's not a question of either less demand or more demand. The choice I am proposing is between taxation of consumption, reducing demand in the short term but increasing savings and long term investment, thereby increasing productivity...
Hamish, I believe that point is what the prebate component of the fair tax is designed to address. Everyone would get a cash check from the treasury each month to rebate the taxes they would pay up to their basic cost of living. I have a few issues with this idea for different reasons - 1, cost...
TwistedAegis, to respond to your example, if EA creating client side protections was defined as not R&D, the money they spent on it could be called a customer service expense and deducted as well. The most restrictive interpretation would be if the IRS said EA's new client side protections were...
I have a few issues with this article.
I think the distinction between a tax break and a subsidy is an important one. A subsidy is when government pays economic actors in an industry because the market (allegedly) will not support them. A prime example is subsidy payments made to farmers for...
Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps!
I've been thinking the same thing with my Q6700 for a long time. A lot of people seem to have gotten long legs out of their Core 2 Quads! I think the time is about right though - SB offers a good 30-40% performance increase, plus much higher overclocking potential. DDR3 is also cheap now. And I...
I believe it got up to a scorching 80 degrees last Friday. When you're used to the grim permafrost of the Pacific Northwest, 80 degrees in the sun can feel like being lain to burnination!
I can definitely understand how it would be very difficult or impossible to get it to come out right in a game engine. And it's probably better that they leave it out rather than put something nonfunctional or half-assed in. It's just as someone who's spent 5 years growing hair down to the small...
Something that bothers me in every game where they have an avatar body/face modifier is that they always seem to omit a real option for long hair. I understand there are technical character modeling reasons for this, but still...it just seems wrong. Like in Oblivion where you could have 'long...
I live in Seattle, and procrastinated on getting a pass, and they sold out in May! I think it was intentional procrastination since I didn't have a very good time last year.
I really liked the muscle definition in her arms and shoulders. I wish more women would do serious strength training; IMO tone and a bit of muscle is very sexy and feminine!
Oh, also, the film was good :)
