• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Budget target: $1,300
Use: gaming, some light home office work

Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A $160 after MIR
CPU: i7-8700K $225 (employee discount)
CPU cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus from prior system (website says works for 1151 socket)
GPU: 970 GTX from prior system
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000 $185
SSD: Samsung 960 Evo $200
Storage: 4TB Seagate $100
PSU: Corsair RMX 650W $90 after MIR
Case: Chaser MK-1 $162
Thermal Compound: $6
Total: $1,128

Also need: Windows 10 license - $120(?)

Monitors: 2,560 x 1,440 25" IPS main and 1,920 x 1,200 24" for desktop space.
Maybe's for later this year:
Replace 1,920 monitor with 3,840 x 2,160 if I see a deal
Try to upgrade to 1080 GTX. I saw MSI 1080 on Newegg for $610 earlier this week, held off and now kicking myself.

Prior system is i5-2500K, has given a lot of good service, selling turnkey to a friend minus GPU.

Appreciate any help or ideas you care to offer :)

The 212+ won't really be adequate for an 8700k if you plan on overclocking. Also, you do not need to spent ~$100+ on a Windows license; look in the FS forums for keys from the likes of ickywu and Kuurus.

Everything else looks fine.
