I got a CTM-1042SAS (4x 2.5" in a 5.25" slot) and stuck it to the left side and bottom of the case (inside) next to my mobo, with doublesided tape. Its not going anywhere. Mounted it 2cm from the rear end of the case so I can still plug in the SATA cables and I can access the hotswap trays...

Yeah, I have them on 1.2 sec staggered spinup. But as I said, "full load" power usage isnt specified in the HD datasheets, and the server has blown 3 PSU's so far due to them running very close or above max capacity :) As for the external things... anyone have a specification on them? Need...

Same... Activity LED's need a magnifying glass to be seen. Its the model with 5 backplanes, SAS connectors (so 20 connectors in total, not 40). Bloody annoying.

Nah, I am in love with hardware raid 5 & 6. I'll either use a Dremel, buy longer internal cables or sell case #2 and buy higher density hdd's. Thanks for all the suggestions though, good to learn about some higher end stuff, since I have exactly 0 exposure to it normally :(

Yes and no, I'm not convinced it'd work. If I understood this correctly, I'd need 3 of those in the server, then I'd need 6 horribly expensive cables, and then I'd need 3 more brackets that are device based, not host based like that one, and then a bunch of sata cables..
