My FW900's screen is stuck in a rotated position, about 10 degrees counterclockwise. And it won't move using the rotation adjustment in the OSD. Any idea what could cause this? I haven't seen this problem posted before.
I thought about taking the monitor to a local TV repair shop, thinking...
Yeah, Ripley's daughter died of old age while she was in cryosleep between Alien and Aliens (at least that's what Burke told her). But her name was "Amanda" in the film. Pretty freaky to think about, actually... Ripley cries as she touches the photo of an old woman, who was her daughter. Amanda...
I also like to play horror games during Halloween season. There's nothing like sitting alone in the dark at the PC with my headphones cranked and a can of Guinness or hard apple cider at the ready.
Anyway, you could try Cry of Fear ; it's what I'm playing through right now. It's a mod for the...
I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about how to fix a rotation problem that my FW900 is experiencing. The screen is permanently rotated about 10 degrees counterclockwise, and cannot be corrected using the rotation control on the OSD.
In fact, if I try to correct the rotation by rotating...
Has anyone had luck running this new GOG release of SS2 in 3D Vision? Some people on the nVidia forms say it works great, but it doesn't render in 3D for me despite being a DX9 game. 3D Vision activates, and the lasersight appears, but there's no separation.
Despite my last post, I actually liked Aliens: Resurrection. The whole cloning Ripley thing just seemed like a desperate attempt to create a role for Sigorney Weaver in an Alien sequel. But it did take corrupted military/industrial officials 200 years of desperate engineering to clone Ripley in...
I recently watched all the Alien movies, and I was disappointed to notice that Alien: Resurrection was written by Joss Whedon. Joss usually does better.:(
EverQuest has a great day/night cycle back in the day. You could watch the moon/sun slowly track across the sky.
It was useful when playing as a human character (without infravision) in the early days, as it helped you judge how much longer you could travel on foot until you had to get...
I have a fairly simple question here. I'm trying to get my headphones and X-Fi Titanium HD sound card properly set up for movie watching with PowerDVD, and seem to have hit a weird snag:
If I set my Windows 7 speaker configuration to 5.1 Surround and then run the speaker test, I can hear all...
Oblivion with the Deadly Reflex mod was always pretty cool. The mod's creator based it on Dark Messiah's combat.
Amazingly, I still haven't played Skyrim to compare its combat system to Oblivion with Deadly Reflex.
God, I hope Helix can create a 3D Vision fix for this game. Since it's still DX9, he should be able to. Playing the first two Dead Space games in 3D on my projector screen was an epic experience.
I'm usually a bit behind when playing through games, as I'm busy with a huge backlog. But these are the best games I played in 2012:
Batman: Arkham City
Just Cause 2
Far Cry 1
Dead Space 1 & 2
The Suffering
Darksiders 1
I played the above in 3D Vision on my projector, which was an...
I know that using the dedicated headphone jack on the rear of the X-Fi Titanium HD mutes the analog RCA outputs. However, does this mute the optical output as well?
Something like this from Performance-PCs?
I bought a Scythe Kama 5.25" bay audio device with 4 speakers for my wife's PC a few years ago. I can't find it anymore, though. The sound is pretty poor, but for using it just for standard PC sounds, it's alright.
I love my ATH-AD900 headphones + Buttkicker Gamer setup. All the detail and isolation of a good pair of headphones with the chair-shaking immersion of a subwhoofer.
These drivers work great even in Windows 7. I can finally switch modes on my Titanium HD without the sound going dead or getting a loud, echoing screech emitting from my headphones.
I found the "Return to Ishimura" level of Dead Space 2 pretty creepy. I had just re-played Dead Space 1 before playing the sequel, and remembered recently traversing the many rooms and corridors. The feeling of dread and anticipation was palpable; just waiting for something to attack at any...
Borderlands. I've tried playing this game a few times, but can't stay interested. Maybe because I mostly play single player games. Being in my late 30's, I don't know anyone else in my personal life that's into gaming.
Despite much nudging, my wife refuses to try any games beyond the original...
I like FarCry 2. In fact, it was one of my favorite games; and I've played a LOT of games. Of course, I got it years after release and expected the absolute worst. I had very low expectations going in.
I need help. Is there a Bad Game-Lovers Anonymous program I can subscribe to?
Another thanks for the detailed calibration information. I've had my FW900 for five years now, and it's still going strong *knocks on wood*. But my picture looks better than ever after really taking the time to calibrate as well as possible with my naked eye. I also removed the anti-glare...
I played Condemned a few years ago and loved it. I need to play it again soon, and try it in 3D Vision on my projector screen. I wonder if it works as well as FEAR 1 in 3D...
I don't remember having problems with surround audio with my X-Fi, though. I played with headphones, but had Creative...
I game a lot while wearing 3D glasses, and find my Audio-Technica A700s to be pretty comfortable. All Audio-Technica headphones use the same clamp style that grips your head lightly but securely.
Have any of you guys tried Darksiders 2 in 3D? The first one was epic using 3D Vision on my DLP projector, and I hope the second installment is just as good. I love how I got the game to look like I was controlling a War action figure running through a huge plastic playset.
Surprise interactive cut-scenes.
You know the ones. After playing through a tough part of a game, you reach a "cut-scene", which lets you stretch your arms out to relax. But no; what you thought was merely a cut-scene is actually a stealth quick-time event requiring you to scramble to hit a...
I got the games I was really looking for in Max Payne 3, Hard Reset, and Skyrim! Now I need to finally beat Oblivion after pouring probably 1200 hours into that game over the years. Damn new mod releases and the character-resets they cause!
I loved Ninja Gaiden on the NES, and actually beat it once without dying. My two greatest video game accomplishments were beating Ninja Gaiden and and the original Castlevania without dying. Those games were tough, but not crazy-hard like Ghosts 'n Goblins, Battletoads, or TMNT.
I remember playing a game (I think it was on of the FEAR games) that had magazines littered all over the place as debris. Upon closer inspection, some of the magazines were titled "Crate Enthusiast". I thought that was funny...
I'm using a GTX 580 with the latest drivers, and I still have the Generic CRT option in my nVidia control panel. I've been upgrading my drivers, rather than doing complete reinstalls with each release. This may preserve the CRT option that was present in previous driver releases.
My FW900...
I've been playing Descent 1 and 2 through DXX Rebirth for awhile now, using my old CD copies I still have from the '90s. I've also been playing it in 3D using nVidia 3D Vision and GLDirect, which converts DXX Rebirth's OpenGL calls to DirectX.
Descent in 3D on a 60" screen is awesome...
I had an encounter with my FW900's weird screen rotation problem again. The on-screen image spontaneously rotated about 12 degrees counterclockwise after several hours of gaming, and could not be corrected using the OSD. The image still looks great; nice, clear, and colorful. But annoyingly...
I've been enjoying my FW900 for almost five years now, but it broke my heart last night. The on-screen image spontaneously rotated about 12 degrees counterclockwise, and could not be corrected using the OSD. I'm hoping this is a temporary thing, and the monitor will work fine when I turn it on...
How does EQ run on a modern PC? I played for years on the Druzzil Ro server, and had to crank down the particle effects and view distance while raiding or playing in highly-populated zones. Ever since I quit playing years ago, I've been curious to see how EQ would run on a new rig. I think I...
