I'm not sure of all the features you're looking for, but this allows you to set up regions of different sizes on the screen and then maximize apps to those regions: https://maxto.net/
That is a nice little box - great for a home media server.
But yeah rackmount is needed. Basically the only thing keeping this 2U build from being a 1U build is that it has 6 hard drives and most 1U cases only hold 4. I'm planning on collocating it, so smaller is (usually) cheaper.
Does anyone know where I could get a 1U rackmount case that holds 8+ 3.5" HDDs?
I've found full systems that can do it, but not an empty case.
Seagate makes a NAS with this configuration - fits dual PSU, microATX mobo, and 8 drives...
Thanks much for the response. This issue didn't even cross my mind when I bought the card, since all my previous vid cards have been able to handle it no problem.
The HDMI to VGA adapters seem to have the same limitations (of the ones I have found).
I'm trying to decide whether to try...
I've done some searches both here and online but haven't found any definitive answers.
I have an ASUS R9 280X that I want to use with two VGA monitors (FW900s).
The problem is only one of the DVI ports is DVI-I, the other other is DVI-D and won't drive a VGA display.
I looked into...
I am doing this right now with a bare drive connected to a laptop, so it definitely works. As mentioned, you just need a SATA to eSATA cable (because the connectors are different) and some way to power the drive.
I bought the data cable at monoprice but you can find them at amazon or newegg...
Abula - thanks for pointing those things out. I definitely wouldn't have thought of the CPU spacing with that motherboard. I wasn't enthusiastic about the T-J08E to begin with but that makes it an even harder sell.
I did look at the Define Mini early on (and had a comparison setup with it) but...
I'm building the usual home file server and have things narrowed down for the most part:
MB: X9SCM-iiF
Proc: Xeon E3-1230 V2
Ram: 8GB or 16GB ECC Unbuffered (Samsung M391B1G73BH0-CK0 is one on the compatibility list)
PSU: SeaSonic Fanless 400W Modular 80+ Platinum (could be anything this...
I think the answer to your first question is "Until SED displays come out."
It's too bad they are mired in legal problems now . . .
Anyway, I will be using this thing and my IBM P275 (also Trinitron) until they die.
The vantec does not have monitoring.
I will be very curious about your vc-re results. I looked at that as a possibility and am pretty sure it will be too big for that area. I think the only reason the vantec works is because the actual circumference of the sink is smaller, and the arms with...
There was some interest in the SB cooler placement for this board over in the cooling forums in this thread.
I just added some pics if anyone wants to see what it looks like with a vid card in it (for southbridge cooler placement, or general interest).
Just got a P5N-E and 8800GTS so I took some pics to answer this question (I was interested in the answer as well). I seated the card firmly in the PCIe slot and then took these shots.
This shot is straight down on the board. You can see the graphics card doesn't reach the southbridge chip, so...
I did this with the collector's editions of the original WoW CE. I bought four extras and sold them on eBay for 1.5-2x as much. The profits essentially paid for my monthly subscriptions for the whole time I played.
Blizzard knew this would happen, as it has happened before (even before the...
I wouldn't call it guerilla . .
At least 3 seperate posts on the frontpage, and constantly dropping links to it wherever they can. I'd say they are being pretty blatant. I'm kinda wondering why they don't just start doing an automatic redirect to the ratpadz website.
The support page link is dead on the first post. I was looking for the INF and ICM profiles and in the process found the fixed link to the support page:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=GDMFW900&LOC=3
That has the manual, and also an .exe that extracts the 3 ICM profiles...
