I've been a fan of AMD processors since the first "AMD Me" ad I remember seeing for Athlon processors. My first computer I built was a Thunderbird AMD Athlon 700 processor and haven't looked back since. I've always loved the easy scalability of AMD processors with minimal socket changes and...
Sweet guys, thanks for the feed back. I really dig the PC-9F that mannyman and GuyClinch both mention. It's got the classis Lian Li feel but a lot more room for growth and I love how they put the PSU on the bottom, could make for a cleaner build.
I do however like your suggestion Aphasia...
Alright, I bought a Lian Li PC-60 Aluminum chassis from Monarch Computer 6 years ago and have rocked it on every single upgrade since.
From my AMD Athlon all the way up to my current Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550S, it's all been built inside this case.
I've decided to retire the...
Well, thanks for all the suggestions everyone! The PSU was the problem, I took out my HD 5850 and used an 2600XT and it stopped randomly rebooting, I'm just not pumping enough power to the card and 3 HDDs.
So, any suggestions on a good PSU? My current one is an OCZ but I'm up for suggestions...
So, I've upgraded my current computer to a newer build and I'm having trouble with it locking up and rebooting while gaming. Here's the build
Asus P5Q PRO Turbo Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550S Processor - 65W
4GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 800Mhz Memory
Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Video Card - 1GB...
I just came across a Zotec 8800 GTS 320MB for $88.00 shipped. I've never heard of Zotec before but according to their website, they have a 3 year warranty and lifetime when you register your card.
Here's the linkage...
Good job PC Club! Way to go out the Monarch way! Keeping everyone in the dark until that faithful morning of "Hey, we're out of business!"
At least have the guts to tell your employees so they can look for another job.
I just picked up a PNY 9800 GX2 shipped for $544.00 @ Motherboardpro.com
Here's the Link http://www.motherboardpro.com/PNY-NVIDIA-GeForce-9800-GX2-1024MB-PNY-Video-Card-Retail-p-544.html
Not a bad deal at all.
I started putting SSD's in our SATA notebook line and noticed a pretty minimal return on performance. I've used Super Talent SSD's and have not had a lot of luck with performance, I'm not sure if there's a bottleneck within the notebook itself or if the SSD is just lack luster itself.
I...
Yeah, I'm sure you guys know that Ultra is owned by Tiger Direct. When I worked for one of their subsidiaries they constantly pushed us to sale Ultra products. I had more returns on Ultra PSU's than any other product I sold, especially their modular stuff. Everything is outsourced and over...
I came across this looking to setup a Crossfire rig with a Phenom 9600
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 3870 512MB PCI-E 2.0 Video card shipped for $227.99
Newegg Is at $255.83 shipped
Buy.com Shipped is $244.99
Now all I need is a 790FX Board! But until then, Crossfire cards for under $500...
Wow, Monarch's Hornet made the list. I always thought Vinyl stickers we're always a bad idea, and looks like someone agrees. I always like the Hornets though.
Yeah, my PS3 has been collecting dust ever since I beat Heavenly Sword in 5 hours. Only use it every now and then to watch Blu-Ray movies from netflix.
Also, isn't the $399 model lacking the chip to be backwards compatible with PS2/PS1 games? Or is that only the PAL version?
As being a father myself that plays video games, I cannot begin to comprehend this story. My wife classifies me as a video game "junky" I play whenever I am able to jump on the PC or fire up Xbox Live. But not feeding your kids? Letting them starve because why? Your Clan needs you?
"Police...
Now this could be pure speculation, but I heard from an inside source that Connect3D has went out of business. Which sucks IMO because they we one of the only good ATI manufacturers for ATI video cards.
Again, nothing is confirmed in any way but if you hear something about this, please...
I wouldn't touch a biostar. One thing I did notice is that it had both AGP and PCI-E ports. I know ASRock makes a board like that. But I wouldn't go with AGP either. If you have to have an AGP id go with
Asus P5VDC-MX
But I would go with PCI-E which would be
Asus P5RD2-VM
Those...
ECS is owned by Fry's Electronics, in turn, I use to work for Fry's and the return rate on they're "mainstream" or "value" models was outrageous. I personally wouldn't even touch an ECS motherboard.
So The Incredibles + Valve = TF2?
I have to say eww @ the cartoon look. Granted the game looks great, textures and all. But unless the gameplay it outstanding, it won't live up to Team Fortress in my eyes.
I personally suggest the Asus M2N32-SLI deluxe motherbaord.
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe nF 590 Wireless Ed. $202.99
This board is the whole package. W/ built in WiFi
Plus, this board got a Gold award on a HardOCP review
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Review
Yeah, it would be hard riggin' something like that. You could upgrade to a Zalmon AM2 fan
Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Silent CPU Cooling Kit
Or maybe positioning the backplate diagonally across the screw holes? most likey wouldn't work, but you could give that a shot. :D
I had the exact same problem. I went and download the latest BIOs and flased my BIOs, then I made sure my Windows XP was running SP2, and it installed fine.
Give that a shot, see what happens
