I'm holding off on the insanity judgement. Could go either way after your last post...:D
It looks to me from this quote like VM is offering to give you the rebuilt system you seem to be fighting so hard for, but ya didn't once mention that in your last post. Is that what you want, or just...
He won't be missing his computer if it's not working anyway. Duh (BTW, Ranger - is that really all you do with your rig?)
Are you insane? The guy has had a PC for 2 years - it's worked most of that time, and now it doesn't. But he won't send it in like they ask, just stomp his foot...
Stick with Enermax, PCPower, Seasonic, or another actual brand of PSU, and I agree 750w or more will provide headroom for upgrades like SLI or overclocking that 6300. I'm not a fan of anything from OCZ, since they don't actually make anything - farm everything out and just market it. Don't...
I'd stay away from the OCZ power supply, cuz I have heard mixed messages about that company. Try Enermax, Antec, or PCPower (even if they are expensive). Go with 700+ watts if you want to keep with the upgrade theme.
Dude, you asked if it would hold 4 hard drives and you say it will. I bet you have a free 5.25 bay or two, also. You were informed, but you just don't like it. Consider perhaps you didn't ask the question properly to get an answer you wanted.
Me thinks you are trying a bit too hard to disect this. First, a flat drop would give a system a huge shock without damaging the box at all. Did you consider that? Second, if people don't start using their heads and not making this forum the VM tech support blog, then why would Chris and VM...
Holy shit! I just flipped on the TV and caught the HP chairwoman testifiying before congress about illegal pretexting and realized that H-doo made this announcement today as a diversion...kinda like when Clinton dispatched our fighters and blew up the aspirin factory in Sudan the same day he was...
I respect Voodoo, and HP is OK. The thing I don't get is why? HP can do everything VD can if they wanted (Rahul mentions the $3.5 Billion dollar lab), so I see this as just a way to paint HP boxes and plant a VD logo on them and pawn them off as cool. Am I missing something here other than a...
I tire seeing people write that Maingear and OD have "better support" than VM. VM is open from 7a to 11p unless you get 24/7. None of these other companies can do that, and it's a big deal. During "normal" hours these guys are all good, but I can never call about a tech support problem during...
I'm a customer, and they absolutely do. You gotta love VM because they are big enough to have dependable support around the clock, but still not too big to care about the customer experience. Oh, and they make great PCs, too.
WTF - The more I read this, the more like BS it seems. The E2200 system tore up everything [H] has seen and because it took 3 days to get a video card and gave a couple of vague answers they got a 5/10 and a final score of 7.9? I honestly don't get it. I keep reading the TS page and don't...
I've been a satisfied customer and fan of VM for a while, and I hate to see all of the ranting and "my computer isn't perfect" threads about them. They have consistently been a stalward in these forums. We all probably know that only mad customers write posts to vent displeasure and inflict harm...
I don't know whether to be more jelous of the rig or the fact that you have a fiance that would be on board for this computer. Enjoy, and post pictures! (of the rig obviously, not the fiance...)
See, that is not what I was told by VM when I called a few weeks ago to ask this very questions. Trace from VM told me that if I bought a system at BB that I could either go back to the store for help with problems or go back to VM directly, which ever was easier for me. A BB guy confirmed that...
5/10 seems seriously out of whack considering the circumstances and the poor handling by the reviewer not having more specifics about the exact person who gave the stupid "google" answer. I can see 7. Why didn't they try to get tech support at the store from Geek Squad, either? That's another...
I would enthusiastically reccommend VM. I've had a fantastic experience from them and will be buying a new ProMagix PCX in the next month or so. I trusted them enough to talk the IT department at work to buy some systems for the office and they are working out pricing with a sales rep now...
The GE1500 has always been the value leader for VM, which is why it's so popular. Not so many custom options make it faster/easier to mass build, therefor less.
Looks like integrated graphics to me, but hard to tell from the specs. You should check out if it can take a PCI-e card before you buy. Otherwise, you'll be stuck with only a PCI card upgrade path, not too good. Price looks nice enough as long as it has the slot.
Looks like my buds at Velocity will be first out of the gate with Conroe.

I hope I can resist and not get a new rig now, but I don't think quad-core is going to be all that.
Been looking at it, and probably ready to pounce. I'm not a fan of the Apple file format because it's just a PITA for Windows users with many GB of older MP3 format archives. My Creative Zen is beginning to show it's age, with stuff like this out.
Good or bad system builds are one thing, but ethics problems are enough make me argee they shouldn't get any more coverage for at least a year before you see if they got their act together. In the mean time, giving them new coverage undermines the noobs who are just hearing about them here.
Wallace, how big are you guys in terms of # of employees or # of units shipped per month? I don't think it's bad to be a smaller company, but we have been discussing this and would like to know.
Props for taking the risk to try the crazy case, too. Who makes it?
OK, I respect Voodoo. They and FNW both make absolutely georgeous systems. My only point is they are probably not the very best in the biz, just the prettiest.
OK, it's no secret I'm a Velocity Micro fan and customer, but I don't think Voodoo deserves the huge pile of praise they get sometimes, because ALL they offer is a nice paint job and a "psudo-famous" owner. Falcon does every bit as good of a pint job, but paint is but one feature of the...
Another happy VM fan here, although I've had a positive experience with Newegg, too. It's just that ABS outsources tech support to a third party that is never available to answer or return calls.
This Velocity NoteMagix L80 Ultra notebook has a dual core processor, 80GB 7200rpm Hard Drive, and 7600 graphics for $1675, about $100 less and a much more reliable company. A much better deal, IMO.
Wait and see if they lower the price more when Conroe comes out and make them give the extra savings to you, or see if you are just funding them interset-free money for a while. The systems is certainly legacy as soon as conroe comes out - a mid-grade conroe should handily outperform the 965...
GTFO! I'm a loyal customer and huge fan of VM!!
Can I start pestering you at VM in August? I can't imagine a better fit, and probably a "dream job" for many people in these forums. What made you decide to go to VM?
WTF? We were just getting to know you. We can change - do better - if you'll just stay and give us another chance!
I'm sure you had tons of offers, anyway. Best wishes. Can you tell us what's up next for you, or are you just getting out while the getting is good!
For anyone who might have...
You have enough money to get what you want from any of them, so go with the leaders of the industry: Velocity, Falcon, or Voodoo. Everything else is just a knockoff of the originals. You'll want Intel's Conroe, aka Core 2 Duo, (sad to say from an AMD fan)and at least 7950 if not SLI for the sake...
They're having a pretty decent sale this weekend, too. I have to wait until November for a new system per a deal I cut with my wife, but man I'm still thinking about a new conroe system!
BTX is not proprietary, but good luck finding a modern motherboard to replace it with. That's my point, and why I don't care for that particular portion of this system. I think it looks great, but ATX would have made it a MUCH nicer unit.
