I pulled out the top 6850 and only tried the lower 6850. Received great performance still in BF3.
Previously the monitor was connected to the top 6850 and Crossfire was disabled, so I am looking at that as a successful test of that card.
I got fed up with it. I pulled out both 6850's and...
I understand that and have heard that, but the game is supported by a CAP profile and is pretty new. I would expect Crossfire to be supported by BF3/BF3 supported by Crossfire.
To answer your first question, I bought two of them planning to use them in separate computers, but I had never setup...
Other games seemed to run fine, but I only play games such as UT2004, QuakeLive, and TF2 other than BF3. However, even when running on a single 6850 Windows as a whole seems to be a lot quicker when changing windows, etc.
UT2004 seemed somewhat slow at 1920x1080 on higher settings, which I would...
No, but I will probably be doing this soon. I actually had to RMA one of the cards earlier this year because I found out that it was causing severe graphics problems - quick Windows lock ups, graphic driver resets, and BSODs.
The only thing I can do is swap them. I'm fairly certain that I only have two PCI-E x16 slots on the mobo. I could be wrong.
I'm fairly certain I did this a long time ago too though.
Here is an album of screenshots with Crossfire enabled. Note that my FPS REALLY dropped near the last few pics when I was specing and overlooking most of the map:

Crossfire disabled - Looks much better:

Looks to me that the CPU just...
Thansk for your reply.
If Crossfire isn't enabled, why is one card smoother than when Crossfire is enabled and why would GPU-Z/AMD Overdrive say that it is running in Crossfire mode?
I'll see if I can get some screenshots with that command you listed and the GPU usage while in game.
Yes, I have been running the latest for a while. The latest for my board is F8, IIRC.
Also, thanks for your reply. I haven't been able to get help anywhere else so far.
All,
I am having performance issues in BF3. I have 2x Gigabyte HD 6850 GVR685OC-1GD Radeon 6850 video cards in Crossfire mode. I will post the rest of my system specs below.
Basically, Battlefield 3 runs better with Crossfire disabled. It is smooth as silk when running at 1920x1080 on a...
I have two FreeNAS file servers running the latest version of FreeNAS. I have a RAID 5 array on a RocketRAID 2210 in a P4 2.4GHz system and a RAID 5 array on a RocketRAID 2300 in a Phenom 9600 system.
My question:
Is there any way to get SMART status and/or other disk stats reporting to...
An update:
After getting the RMA drives back, I put them back in the P4 2.4GHz system. I tried them both in RAID10 and RAID5. I saw little performance difference between the two modes. I get about 45MB/sec disk to array, and anywhere from 25 to 35MB/sec over gigabit. I'm sure some will say...
So what I am thinking is folder encryption (TrueCrypt) and storing any private data in the encrypted folder/partition. My only question is how will this play with backup programs that run automatically? What about shared folders?
Also, for email, I am thinking SSL encryption on both POP3/IMAP...
I have a few clients that need to be HIPAA compliant. I know what HIPAA is, but everytime I try to find a set of guidelines online, I come up more confused than when I started.
What are some of the basic guidelines for HIPAA compliant email and storing data on workstations, servers, backups...
I think this is part of my problem.

I ended up RMA'ing the drives.
Here's a copy/paste of what I posted there:
I haven't tried your other suggestions, but here is the other info you requested.

I changed the count to 1000 since it was taking forever.
250.00 sec, 4180894 bytes/sec
9.91 sec, 105768329 bytes/sec
Wow - a little under 4MB/sec write and 100MB/sec read. =(
I am considering tearing down an old dual P3 1GHz FreeNAS file server with 4x WD 1.5TB Green hard drives in RAID5. It has been consistently giving me 6MB/sec transfer rates. It does only have a Intel 100mbps PCI NIC, but it should top out at around 12.5MB/sec then.
However, if I rebuild it in...
I have an HP Pavilion TX1000 tablet PC. It is suffering from the common overheating issue. The CPU idles around 70C, maxes out around 80-85C before shutting off. I've already taken the whole laptop apart, cleaned (no dust and the fan is working), and reapplied thermal grease on the single CPU...
Do you guys know of good places to purchase refurbished laptops?
Refurbished only, not new - unless they are comparable in price.
I don't want to get into the whole "refurbished is trouble" argument.
Just looking for store references, thanks. :D
Another reason I was looking for a "distro" (such as the Gluster Platform) was to avoid installing a full install of an applicable Linux distro. I'd rather it be dedicated only to what it needs for the DFS cluster. That way it would be fully optimized instead of having extra services running.
Do you guys have any favorite distributed file system distros?
I looked at GlusterFS and it looks very nice, but it is x86_64 only.
Most, if not all of my systems are just x86.
