The Galaxy GTX580 is a great deal. Unfortunately I cannot find the card lenght at either Tiger or Galaxy. I guess I'm supposed to just assume it's the reference 10.5" and ship it back if it's longer.
I see that it's an Amazon affiliate -- but only has 16 lifetime feedbacks. They are all positive, but I am still a little uncomfortable sending $429 + shipping to save $40 or so. Someone out there is welcome to take it. I can wait a lttle longer ...
EVGA GeForce GTX 580 015-P3-1580-AR for $429 at solid etech, a seller I never heard of and is not listed on resellerratings.com. Anyone ever do business with them?

NOT A GOOD DEAL AT ALL -- My first search brought up a Diamond 6970 at NewEgg for $368 shipped. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103182 I'm sure if you actually dig a bit you may find even cheaper -- GEEZ
Once you register with Steam you can play off-line as well as on-line. Plus Steam offers instant game updates when online and the opportunity to try/buy other games. I don't see why some feel a STEAM account is a game negative.
To 'gar818' -- Geez -- having been very pleased with my Dell 2707WFP for years now including kickass gaming at 1920x1200, I would be shocked (and would return the U2711) if it didn't meet or surpass the 2707 in quality viewing. Here are a couple of professional reviews that rate it better than...
CyberMonday only deal for IPS panel 2560x1440 regular price $1099. Also includes 3 year replacement warranty + zero dead pixel policy which is why I like Dell over cheaper deals from other onliners selling it. Tax is $65.92 for those in Texas. I missed the deal last week for $749 so it may go...
I bought it after buying the Kingwin LZ1000 the day before for $99 (Out of Stock now, so hello eBay). According to reviews I trust (HardOCP, JonnyGuru) the Seasonic is a better PSU + 1000w is way more than I need. I just jumped because of the Bang for the Buck.
I've searched in vain for a legit review but all I can find is some form chatter. If anyone has had better luck finding someone who actually has tested an abs, we'd sure appreciate a link.
 No it is not when both cards perform about the same and I don't have to replace the PSU that, as I said, I neatly rewire, a time consuming task to do nicely. Anyway the case is closed, the card is bought and I appreciate the helpful advise given.
Thanks everyone, especially to defaultuser and huddy. I totally missed the CPU power draw. Although the 6780 is a great design, I'm going for the Gigabyte 470 at $220 for the reasons stated in my original post.
 Since it's holiday and video card war time, I've been researching a DX11 upgrade for my signature gaming PC and decided on either a GTX 470 or AMD 6870 as the best bang for the buck with roughly the same performance. Since I have a GTX 260, I'm partial to the 470 (less driver hassle to...
Can anyone tell me the length of this card? It's not on the Gigabyte site and the nearest I could find was a YouTube video where the kid says "Wow - it looks about 10" long ...
Tried to order it today, but shipping was $15.65 for me -- and on checkout for it only, I got a note saying something like 'an item in your cart is not eligible for cashback'. WTF !!! I wonder who decides, Bing or TD if an item is cashback eligible? You'd think they would both want the sale...
Just be alert that some items (namely some really good deals) are ineligible for the Bing cashback. It will say something like 'an item in your cart invalidates your entire order for cashback' as you process thru checkout.
All good points -- I think I'll wait to upgrade until I "NEED" a DX11 game. Just to be clear, I've had and enjoyed both ATI and Nvidia cards in the past so I am not wed to either. I have to say though that updating Nvidia drivers has always been easy, although my last ATI driver update...
I've been surfing for an upgrade to my GTX 260 card and am wowed at all the buyer reports of bad or DOA ATI 5850 and 5870 cards at Amazon, NewEgg and other outlets. Yet the growing feedback on the Nvidia Fermi cards is overwhelmingly positive. Performance and dollar wise the ATI cards are the...
Thanks for the advise but I've removed the single HDD that I installed Win 7 on (as a test), changed the BIOS settings back and booted my original Vista64 from the RAID 0 array. Now as soon as I get my new SSD from NewEgg, I'll repeat the above process.
I can't believe that someone would spend so much time arguing over nitpicky details of this article. FWIW -- I appreciate and value the efforts of Paul and Kyle to test and evaluate the Fermi's and their power requirements. I would have liked the GTX 480 but would not feel comfortable with it...
Well I figured it out w/o forum help and will share here. Nothing like NO RESPONSE to motivate experimentation. I installed an old HDD on SATA port 3 to simulate the new SSD and set the BIOS Boot Priority to #1. In my Asus P5Q Pro BIOS I found I had to set the SATA configuration for all drives...
