There's a REASON that previous advertiser-supported "free" internet ideas have flopped.
Yet gov'ts will keep throwing good money down a hole.
I am technical lead for a small WISP in Atlanta. Atlanta recently had a similar effort. We read the RFP and had to laugh at it. All kinds of crazy...
I ran my E4300 at 380x9=3420 for about a day. Got worried about the heat though due to the goofy Ninja Rev. B mounting bracket. I didn't run Orthos was just doing desktop stuff, gaming, and DivX because at that time I didn't know about all those requirements for inclusion. Not going to try and...
No, the E4300 is AllenDale design. These are not Conroe-rejects. Yes they are all one big happy Core2 family, but while the E6300 & E6400 are Conroe with half the cache disabled, the Allendales are built with only 2 megs to start with. The Allendale are done from a different mask and different...
Blah blah...
people obsessing about the OC-ability.
Back in the day, we were happy to get a Celeron-300A up to 450. A 50% OC.
The E4300 is the new Celeron, especially after the price comes down. A 50% OC without breaking a sweat or straining your mobo and RAM. 66% seems quite common...
I ran 3 programs and got 3 different results on my now-idle E4300 system:
Intel TAT v2.05.2006.0427: 44C
RightMark CPU Clock Utility v2.2: 18C
CoreTemp Beta 0.94: 27C
Crazy!
After rebooting the system and going into the BIOS it was showing about 32C. So that puts CoreTemp as the...

Intel TAT v2.05.2006.0427: 44C
RightMark CPU Clock Utility v2.2: 18C
CoreTemp Beta 0.94: 27C
Crazy! Later I'll cross-check these with BIOS temps and see who is closest.
The high temps on my E4300 is I think due to the goofy Scythe LGA-775 mounting system. The push-pins don't provide enough clamping force, so it's not getting the kind of heat-transfer that it should. I know the heatsink didn't feel like 78C even near the base. I'm going to take the motherboard...
Couldn't we just use the Intel TAT program and click "START" on both CPU's?
This program seems to load up both cores quite well, from the resulting temps it looks like an even harsher load than Orthos.
I pulled the system apart to put the HR-05 on the Northbridge, so I yanked the Ninja off to look at the CPU. These are the markings, which one is the week?

There's a reason the Sony MDR-V6 has been made for like 20 years now. They are good solid headphones. Not "I get to brag about how much I spent on my cans" good, just a solid black reliable product. If you want to look DJ-hip, or have silver and gold trim and the meaningless gold-plated plug...
Hmmm, the official thread has some rigid rules about screen-shots etc. I'll have to go back and collect data tonight in order to post to that thread.
How can I collect all that CPU data like week-number? Any way to get it without removing the heatsink? To pull the Ninja off I'll have to...
I am very happy with Sony MDR-V6 units. They have been making these for 20 years now.
Are they bestest-best headphones ever? No. I am sure there are audiophiles on this board who have spent $300+ on headphones who will deride them. However, for $68 + free shipping from Amazon, they are DARN...
So, I should sacrifice gaming performance just to be on the bleeding edge? No thank! I'll let the idiots do that, and then think about it in 2008 or 2009. Saw this article about Gaming on Vista entitled "Gaming stinks with RTM Vista and current drivers" over at Tom's...
From what I have read, this is the REAL Allendale CPU. Many people think the E6300 is an Allendale but it's not it's also Conroe.
The E4300 was designed from the start with 2M cache, and looks to have about 15 Watts less power consumption. Good for those of us who don't want leaf-blowers in...
I recall when the "H" started, the hot thing was overclocking a Celeron 300A.
A very cheap CPU that could jump up to high performance.
Where is the Celeron now? I see everyone out buying $200+ units. A sub-$100 CPU makes a lot of sense to me too, I'll wait until they make one.
I just ordered a 7600GS myself.
Unlike some of y'all searching for the MAX SPEED without regard to anything else but cost, I want a silent-running rig.
Sure I could get an X800XGLDYE++ or something in there and run it overclocked and have 3 fans pointing at it to keep it cool. I don't like...
You might want to check firmware is on your monitor first. The way I read it, Dell is taking A00 units and flashing them with A02 firmware so you may have ended up with what you want, even if the sticker still says A00. Hardware is the same, it's just a software change.
I do not understand why you are beating you head against this brick wall.
Why is this so important?
I ordered a 2007WFP and it's a good monitor. Got it for $350 during that July 4th sale. Actually it had vanished off the web-site at the time I wanted to order so I called in and the lady...
Regarding gaming "wide", so far I see no real problem.
The 2007WFP is 16:10. The old-style is 4:3 which amounts to 16:12.
I gotta tell you I played BF2 for a couple of hours with it filling the screen. Maybe it was "squished" if I had sat a standard monitor next to it in clone mode. But I...
Seems fine to me. And it's a nice-looking monitor too.
I've got the S-Video cable hooked up to my TiVo, occasionally pop up the PIP function. Lots of neat little things on it. If it had a tuner and a remote I'd be set.
Old-style VGA means signal goes to analog across the cable and then back to digital inside the monitor. There's some small signal/information lost in this process. DVI is better in my opinion. I am using DVI and it works great! Text is crisp.
I am using an older Sapphire 9600-Pro, that I...
Just got my 2007WFP in this evening. LM201W01 screen according to the service menu.
Very bright, no dead pixels.
This banding issue is IMHO not something most folks will feel is an issue. It's slightly there if I look for it on the gradlin test, but I wouldn't notice it gaming or DVD...
I picked up a *NEW* 2007WFP (widescreen) on Dell.com for $350 on July 4. Just wait, they do have sales and coupons.
I just received mine this evening. Very pleased with it. Bright, no dead pixels, looks cool. Played a couple of movies awesome having a widescreen!
Darn you people!
I just ordered one of these 2007WFP on the July 4th sale thing, ~$350 & free shipping. Of course having moved to California I have to pay TAXES + recycling fee on just about everything I mail-order now, so that pushed it up to ~$400.
Nonetheless it seemed like a great...
It's not being a partisan, to point out, THE KING HAS NO CLOTHES!
The article makes a big point many times about "hard launch" and how this card is a great value for UNDER $99!!!
However, despite the card is not out there at that price, which kinda blows that point, get it? If the article...
....Blah blah GREAT VALUE FOR $99!......
Where are peeps finding this for $99 MSRP?
I would expect a $99 MSRP board to show up on newegg at about $80-$90.
Maybe reviewers are getting this board for $99, but I as John Q. Public am not able to find it. Review main point is terrific...
Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Example:
My chick got sucked in by one of those "contest" things. You find some fishbowl at a business and it says "win a free vacation". So you drop a card in. Later they call you and say you've won. Well everybody wins. See the...
I don't see this XFX board that is so much reviewed.
But I did find a listing for what claims to be a 6600 DDR2 with 512 megs!!! Anyone heard of this:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1549699&CatId=1826
If you read the reviews on anandtech or elsewhere it will become clear this is a new model that falls between 6600 and 6600GT. However it can be OC'd to GT levels according to most specs. And my guess is that it can do it not only cheaper but cooler. I prefer to mount big honking heatsinks on my...
1. Have you ever had a hard drive fail on you?
Yes
2. Have you ever had a USB Pen fail on you? (if you've used these)
Yes
3. Have you ever had an external Hard Drive Fail on you? (if you've used these)
No
4. Have you ever had a CD-R, DVD-R, or other optical media fail/corrupt on you?
Yes...
Young whippersnappers, I'll larn ya!
Heh!
Point taken, however my main point was this 6800GS is hardly "middle" of the product segment for most people I know. This 6600 DDR2 is very attractive however. Last upgrade was the 9600Pro in 2003, looks like this is a worthy successor.
How did 6800GS take over the thread?
Not seeing this 6600 DDR2 unit for sale anywhere, guess the excitement is premature.
I'm boggled by the current labelling of the 6800GS as "mainstream". I don't know about you, but I don't consider dropping $250 on a video card to be mainstream. $100...
I keep reading these glowing reviews of the Sapphire GTO2.
Sounds great.
Then they mention it should be under $200.
Which doesn't square with what I am finding. Even newegg has it for $289.
