I'm trying to build a similar rig here, and curious as well...is the PRO that much better than the non "pro"?
I'm also only looking to moderately OC my CPU with the same Corsair H60. If I can save money on the mobo, I'd like to get a lot of good RAM. I currently only have 4gb is on an aging...
Wow, this is pretty much what I'm trying to build soon...I just don't need the GPU, Sound Card, or PSU. I wish I could knock the price down on this build, with the subtraction of those components. ;/
Hello folks, I stupidly posted this on another folder...but posting here in the correct folder now.
I've run into some kind of a pickle.
I haven't OC'd in so long that I just didn't pay attention to how delicate the OC was on my system when I plugged in new ram (8GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1333...
Hello folks.
I've run into some kind of a pickle.
I haven't OC'd in so long that I just didn't pay attention to how delicate the OC was on my system when I plugged in new ram (8GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1333 9-9-9-24).
I have the following:
x3350 (x8 multi) = 2.67ghz
evga 790i Ultra SLi...
I don't want to hi-jack Defiant's post, but I'm also curious about this.
I'm running an X3350 (same as defiant's processor), and considering an upgrade. I'm looking at getting a z68 board and popping in an i5-2500k.
Is this a bad idea for future flexibility? I thought my LGA775 would last...
I just started having problems with mine.
I'm not sure if it was the temps or the latest drivers I installed, but the card seems to be fried now :/ Never OC'd the cards...so...I'm a bit bummed about this.
Looking for a new card to replace the 2 9800gx2 in SLi
Any suggestions? I'd...
C'mon, is this all really necessary? You offered your opinion and review about what was relevant. Nuff said. Let's just move on.
I'm personally looking for a replacement for my 9800GX2 Sli setup, since it runs like a nuclear reactor on meltdown and causes stuttering whenever I'm in SLi...
How long does the "Configuring Updates..." phase last?
I've rebooted twice already and it's really taking a long time for this phase to pass.
Just wondering if I should just go to bed at this point.
Wankel,
hahah sounds like a sound decision ;)
Good luck with the 1.3v. I think you can easily hit 3.4 and more with your board and chip.
So many people in the forums are doing way better than me :p
Hey Wankel.
So I'm stable at 3.4 with 1.3v.
I don't want to go above 1.3v at this point. That's also 1.3v in BIOS. When I see the CPUID and other diags it shows a much lower voltage (~1.2+), so I'm happy with the 1.3v I have set in BIOS right now.
Right now I'm trying to OC my not so...
I keep having problems when I try to fire up REAL TEMP. Keeps telling me a dll is missing and to re-install.
UPDATE:
Looks like my max temps on Real Temp are up to 60c during load.
Idle it looks like it just hovers around 43-43c.
I think 3.4 at 1.3v is where I have to stop with...
Toddw...i can't hit that FSB with that voltage :(
Ok, it looks like 3.4 at 1.3v is where I need to stop.
I might need to re-do the AS5 and HSF install. But I also have another chip I can try :p Just time consuming :p
Wow, that looks much smaller than this behemoth of a HSF that I have installed...(Tuniq Tower).
I knew I should have done more research! It's cheaper too!
Finally started to OC the damn thing...
Looking like 3.4 and above requires more volts than I expected (compared to some other...
I haven't mentioned what motherboard I'm using, so I ignored that comment.
Despite what may seem to be "obvious" between Q9450 being the same as the X3350, I'm in the unique position to actually test that out myself. Basically, some people here are actually interested in an empirical test...
nice deal Vannguyen!
I'll let you know as soon as I get everything done. I finally got all the components in. I just have to plug in all the power plugs and load up the OS and I'm off the to OC races :p
Hey Konceptz...heheh hold your horses there :)
Let me try these bad boys out and then i'll let you know :) (you're first).
Thanks for asking though.
BT
Thanks you guys.
I'm leaning towards busting out the Q9450 and OCing it first and if it blows, moving onto the X3350.
One way or another I have to sell one of these bad boys.
toddw,
that's actually what I'd like to get. 3.6.
I'd be VERY happy with that OC.
I just noticed from your sig that there's a P04 bios for the 790i so, i'll probably have to do that as well :)
neubspeed!
Thanks! :) That's the kind of information I wanted and probably need to read :)
So the better potential will come from the Xeon. Ok, that's the box I'll open then :)
Thanks!
Ok, I'm in an unusual position, where I actually took delivery of BOTH CPUs.
I'm wondering which processor I should try and OC first. Which one would OC better? The Xeon or the regular Q9450?
Any ideas?
3.4 is the sweet spot?
I think i can live with that.
I'm getting my HSF tomorrow, so I should be starting up my OC trials as well.
Hopefully everything will go smoothly and I won't have too much of a headache getting 3.4 or better. I'd ideally like to hit 3.6. But we'll see...
Yea, they cancelled my order too. Bummer.
I don't think I'm ever going to get this chip. I might just go grab a E8400. This is becoming a real pain in the butt to wait for.
Great heads up on the deal in the first place though. I should have acted sooner. Oh well.
EDIT:
GUYS...
Sheesh, same here.
BLT's status updates were at best, mind boggling.
Anyways, I'm glad I finally placed an order for this chip with a ship date that's well...DATED.
Now I can get back to building this damn rig instead of staring at the boxes by my desk.
Thanks Yeoman for posting...
Well heck, I think a lot of curious people want to know what all you all results will be like :)
I'm STILL waiting for my Q9450 (no ETA at this time - for retail).
Once I get my chip, I'll be referencing this thread frequently for my OC's :)
