I'm undertaking a small/simple Antec Nine Hundred mod project (I know a lot of people don't like the Antec Nine Hundred, but there's something about it I like, and the fact it has some unmodded cable management issues, is more of just a fun challenge to me).
I figured, that while I'm focusing...
Hi everyone,
I've been in the market for a laptop for the past couple of months. I was waiting for a DX10-card to debut (something that was mid-range or higher), but I've heard that we likely wouldn't be seeing actual DX10-based notebooks until later in the Spring, so I've decided to go ahead...
Most of the programs I am running appear to be stable.
However, Source-based games seem to crash fairly frequently.
When I built my system and did a fresh installation, I installed all of the latest drivers, including the 91.47 Forceware drivers. When running DoD:S, etc., it would...
Does anyone know why this board never seems to be State-side, or way no major online retailer even shows the board (it'd probably be out-of-stock ofcourse, but nobody even has a standard specifications and price page).
While I must say I love the overall design of the case itself...
the design behind removing/emplacing the side panels is an absolutely horrid design scheme. Maybe it's just me, but I've had numerous problems simply getting the panels back on.
Other than that though, I thoroughly enjoy the...
Hi all.
So when I was working on getting my system together, I went ahead and removed the pre-applied thermal compound off the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. However, after it took awhile to remove it all, I realized what the problem was: the base is hardly polished at all. I'd say about...
Is anyone using the Ballistix RAM with a ASUS P5B or P5B Deluxe?
I was reading through the manual for the P5B, and noticed that it says that it cannot use DDRII sticks that make use of 128Mb chips, which the Ballistix does use.
does anyone here happen to know off-hand which current Conroe-supporting boards supports Crucial's Ballistix DDRII 800?
People seem to be having some problems with DDRII 800 on Conroe boards, so I was hoping someone might know just which boards support the Ballistix out-of-the-box.
I plan on finally ordering all the components to rebuild my system tomorrow, based around the E6600 and ASUS P5B Deluxe, so I'm looking for some recommendations about heatsinks.
Preferably, I'm looking for one that isn't too heavy, and that will keep the system cool. I don't plan on...
Does anyone know if they do some time of side panel-modding service, in that you can send in your side panel, and they'll put a window into it?
I was looking over their work on the Stacker 830, and I'm really impressed with how the window came out. However, I'd rather have a black version of...
For someone who isn't going to be overclocking, and just doing normal system usage (gaming, encoding, etc.), would anyone recommend going ahead and getting DDRII 800 over 667, or just going with the 667?
is now available at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813135022
Has two x16 PCIe slots. Not a bad price either.
Edit - found the old thread by accident. Moderator, please delete this one.
It's interested that Anand included this in their "Feeding Core 2 Duo" or whatever article a month back, and it's on the Biostar site, and yet I've not seen it available anywhere yet.
Anyone know when it might debut?
I thought maybe we could begin collecting a list of what are the known Core 2 Duo-compatible HSFs, and which ones would be good for using with it (I know that in theory, almost any 775-compatible HSF should be good to go, but you never know).
Has anyone heard of a possible release date for it, or a rough price estimate? They don't have any information on it at the Thermaltake site, but they showed it off at Computex.
Check this out:
XFX case
Seeing as how this was announced a while ago, I figure many here have already seen it. I hadn't though, so I thought I'd link it.
And personally, I like it a lot. Too bad I've only found it so far in the UK :/
Edit - And it's actually made by a company...
Has anyone seen any benchmarks for a comparison between the X2's 64bit performance and Conroe's? I'd really be interested in seeing if Intel actually revised their 64 bit instructions, or if it's still the hacked instructions applied to the P4s.
Edit - yes, I realize that 64 bit performance...
I've been reading that the Yonah processors that are now shipping supposedly support 64 bit (well, I remember reading a long time ago that all Yonah's supported 64bit, but that it was disabled. Now it's shipping with that feature enabled).
If that's the case, does anyone know how to tell the...
I was wondering, what some of your opinions are concerning using an actual home theatre system reciever to power the Senn 580s. I have a 5.1 channel Panasonic surround sound reciever sitting here doing nothing, because I no longer use it for my surround sound system and the tv. I was thinking...
I'm considering going from an Audigy 2 ZS to the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum ( I found it for a rather affordable price), and I'm wondering if it's possible for the front panel to work with only the basic of software from Creative installed (right now, I only install the Creative Sound Control panel...
Does anyone know of any soundcards that allow you to connect it to the front audio jacks of a case (and microphone jack)? I know a lot of on-board audio solutions allow this, but I haven't seen any PCI sound cards that allow this feature?
I think many of you will find this rather interesting:
Rahul's Blog
While I honestly do believe that Conroe will end up faster than the Athlon 64 series, Rahul digs up some rather interesting issues concerning the benchmark, and since I hadn't yet seen a post relating to this topic, I...
Has anyone seen anything more about this case? I think it could be a rather fun build, and yet, it doesn't seem to have been released yet or any news of the sort stated.
I'm looking to move up to 2GB of RAM, and was hoping to get some opinions on this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231047
I don't overclock, and the 2.5-3-3-6 seems like a good deal for the price and considering it's 2GB of ram. Most people seem to think of G.Skill...
I've heard that the southbridge (nForce 430) chipset gets rather hot, considering it isn't cooled in any way. I was wondering if this has affected anything and, what any of you have done to help cool it.
I'm thinking of picking up either this board or the MSI 6150/430 board, and I'd probably...
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8NGM2-FID&class=mb
MSI's new 6150 board is finally getting ready to ship. It's the board I was actually waiting for. :D
Has anyone on here happened to have put a Zalman 7700Cu on a Gigabyte motherboard? I noticed that most companies use simple screws to retain the HSF mount, but Gigabyte uses some type of white clip it appears, and I'm just wondering how much more difficult, if at all, these are vs. the...
Does anyone here who uses the SG01 use a 120mm, bottom-intake PSU with a top-pulling heatsink? I was wondering just how much it truly affects performance.
there's a revision of the Silverstone SG01 case coming out next month, with better cooling options.
And I just bought mine 1 1/2 weeks ago. *sigh*
Just thought I'd post this for those who are interested in it.
Oh, an the cross-blow fan is available now too.
does anyone here use either of the the Foxconn nForce4 mATX boards? I've seen the Giga-byte and the ASUS, and both of them have issues that make them less-than-desirable. Both Foxconn's chipset fans tend to get loud after a short time, so I was thinking of switching it to passively-cooled...
I'll be building my new system soon, and was hoping to get some thoughts on it:
Silverstone SG 01 case
Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (already have)
2 GB Corsair DDR 400 (have 1 GB already)
Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 (although I'm trying to find out when the GA-K8N51PVMT-9 is going to come out to see if...
