The issue of black boxes on your screen isn't something that needs to be "fixed". It has to due with the Aspect ratio, or the manner in which it was filmed. Most movies are filmed at 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 but your 16:9widescreen tv is most likely 1.78:1. Thus your going to get the black bars...

While this might not be that great of a deal on normal DVD's, if your shopping for HD DVD's and Blu Ray titles, this is smoking hot. You won't find many HD DVD's for under $15 or Combo's around $21. I saw this on AVS yesterday and ordered several movies.

The 360 can do 1080p over componant and VGA when gaming. For HD DVD's, you have to use VGA for 1080p output. While there may be a trickle of 1080p games in the next year, i'm not sure it will become common for a few years.

I think the hype of the PS3 has died down quite a bit. Unfortuantaly, a large percentage of the people who got launch day PS3's bought them to turn a quick profit on ebay, and since the PS3 has a higher price tag than a lot of people are accustomed to paying for a game console to begin with...

QFT...wireless is the dealbreaker for me.

The bulk or the CRT HDTV's that are more than a few years old didn't support 720p. Sony's own (2001-2003ish) top of the line models are examples.

I reallly hope this happens. I hadn't really planned on getting a Wii, but this would force me to (unless, of course, Lucasarts manages to create YET ANOTHER craptacular star wars game)
