Wow you guys are good. I have headaches just by thinking of which parts to choose, but you guys came up with a list right away. I will show him the list and see which option he's going.
I was thinking of telling him to go with Dell, but i know i can do better just like what Danny Bui said...
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=40 <<< Go to this forum, you'll have all your questions answered (maybe.. :D )
Anyways, just to let you know i work as a Directv installer and i've seen quite a few good TVs. You won't be dissapointed with any plasma or LCD out there except of...
If you are planning to use it for your computer also then i say go for the Acer since it can do both (TV and computer viewing) and the Viewsonic well, its just a TV. So pick one.
Do you need a monitor or a TV? They're both different devices; the Viewsonic could be use as a computer monitor though, but with lesser resolution. It seems like you just wanna play video games and watch movies so i'll say go for the Viewsonic since you wanted a TV.
You could try the "Hornet" from Monarch.com. You pick the components and they will build it for you. Falcon Northwest (Frag Box2) and Performance-Pc (Qmicra) are good also but they are way over your budget.
Shocky, you're probably one of the extreme gamers in this forum so i hear yah, but i read somewhere in the "display forums" that a 7900GT is good enough for his Dell 2407 monitor. Im just a casual gamer.
Just because its cheaper doesn't mean its better. Don't make me buy a Ford over a Toyota now. :D Consoles success depends on f-a-n-b-o-y-s...its the reality...price will have little effect on the decisions...trust me. Alright enough said...may the best console wins.
Im sure a single 7900GTX/X1900XTX is sufficient enough to enjoy my games with a "24 monitor. I don't think it will affect me that much playing my games at 90% details. Now back to the original post; i heard ATI cards don't have scaling settings and that the drivers are buggy.
I'm really worrying on the "cheaper" part. I hope they only meant the price and not the quality of the case. Anyways, if its gonna look very similar to the SG01 with 120mm fans, i would say how bad can it be right?
Great news! Now i can ease off on my frustation of waiting for the damn SFF mATX boards for the Conroe. Man, September is gonna be very interesting month for me. SG02, DX cards (maybe?) and cheaper/reduce 2407 price. :D
What photograph? All i see is blank gradient screen. I don't know about you, but i know i won't be sitting in front of my monitor staring at a blank screen. Thanks for the effort though.
So when are we really going to get to see sample pics of a real world applications with banding problems? I need to see real proof...i really don't trust users reviews now a days (bandwagon and !!!!!!s). All talks and no shows? The way i see, there are no better monitors out there at this price...
Sounds good. If the matx boards don't come out soon for the Conroe, I might go with the axt form soon with this slick case. I went back to Fry's and played around with it. The quality is there alright. This case is very eye catchy..
:D
For the people that still worries about the banding and such, according to Maximum PC the problems don't really affect real world apps. They even ranked the Dell #1 of all the 24" out there right now. They used it for their "Dream Machine" of the month.
Sorry if this is the wrong room, but I just saw the CM Black Stacker 830 at Fry's yesterday. This thing is the biggest case on the shelf...damn. I was thinking of getting one a while back but now that i see it in person...wow...its so damn huge...do i need all this space for my components? It...
This is what i see.....banding would only be notice by the people that read on this forum. Now for the folks that buy their monitor without even knowing/reading these threads, I AM SURE THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THEIR MONITOR and don't even know the word banding even if it does exist on their monitor...
Those Intel boards look really nice, too bad we don't know the ship date yet. I heard Intel boards, although limited on their oc capabilities, are really reliable and stable. Damn the regular ATX boards so expensive! :(
Looks like our friend is ignoring us since he was online a while ago and not even replying/visiting this thread. Something's telling me he hasn't gotten the monitor yet. Oh well, hopefully someone else will come up with a review.
You're right. The only reason i'm going for a higher end card is because I will have a larger monitor (2407) and didn't want to have problems with the resolutions.
I agree with you man. I guess people just like to find something to complain about. There is no perfect monitor out there right now and ever. To me, i dont' think banding and input lag (not playing headache games - FPS - hehe) will stop me from buying this monitor. The 2407 is still the monitor...
So the Shuttle SD37P2 is the only matx mobo/case available at this moment? I guess all the manufacturers are concentrating on the atx form for now and no sff and that sucks. ATX mobos are very expensive also at this time. I got the $$ ready for my build now and itching to go the AMD path, but...
I was thinking of the X1900XTX since it performs slightly better than the 7900GTX on some games and a lil cheaper , but i lost interest when i read about the noise and temp. The GPU will go into the Microfly so i try to stay away from higher temps. If i can get the GX2 for close to the price of...
