I reset the CMOS as someone in that thread recommended. Not only did it fix the start up problem, but it also brought back my built in card reader that I haven't been able to get to work in days! Thanks for helping bro!

In device manager, under Computer, it is listed as 'ACPI Uniprocessor PC', but I see no way to change that as the guy said in your link.

The first answer says: "in Control panel (System- Hardware- Computer)from 'Uniprocessor ACPI' to 'Advanced Configuration and Power Interface'." Under Hardware I don't have any "Computer" choice.

I booted in safemode and found that it hung on MUP.SYS. Searching that in Google shows a lot of similiar problems. It seems as if there is no real fix short of reinstalling Windows, which I do not want to do. I guess I am stuck with the pause, it's not as bad as most other people's...

I am going to try booting in safe mode now. I just deleted everything in the C:/Windows/Prefetch folder. I rebooted and the pause was still there. How do I find the bootlog? Thanks!

Thanks for the replies guys! The GPS doesn't have any drivers, just a map program. Any drivers that were installed for the GPS got installed by Windows when I plugged it into the USB port. WIA is already set to Manual.
