That sucks to hear Neon - it is certainly annoying, and I too am on the fence about whether to return the set or not.
I suppose that's one workaround - mine is to select Game mode which allows changes to the Super Resolution setting. Or change picture setting from "Game" > "Standard" > "Game"...
Thanks for the tips guys.
I think I have narrowed the the issue of aliased/fuzzy text - I believe it is a software bug in the TV.
It is called "Super Resolution" - Despite turning it off, this TV resets the super-resolution setting and activates it every time it is turned off and on again...
Thanks again for the reply mate,
It is definitely in 1:1 mode, and "no scaling" is selected in nVidia control panel. So pretty sure there is no overscan.
I've tried 100% DPI, but it is far too small and the 4:2:0 chroma becomes an issue then. The thing is, 150% is fine half of the time when it...
Thanks for your reply Neon01,
I understand the inherent fuzziness to 4:2:1, but this is not that.
Currently it is 4:2:1 @ 60Hz and smooth (relatively), but i know that it will not last.
In other words, the aliasing is worse than what comes from going from 4:4:4 to 4:2:1 and seems to be a...
Hey guys, this is my first post in a long time.
I've recently upgraded the rig to include a GTX 970, Windows 8.1 and an LG 40UB800T 40 inch UHD LCD TV as monitor. I've since had several issues, and wondering if you guys could help out. I've read a ton online however am getting nowhere.
I've...
Its been years since I've posted here, kinda miss the enthusiast PC community.
I nabbed a couple of GTX 680's from eBay for this game, hoping to be taken back to the golden days of the original splinter cell, pandora tomorrow and chaos theory.
Whilst the graphics engine is dated, it still...
Hmm, looks like they forgot to take into account the difference in the ROPs
By all indications the PS4 has 32 ROPS and the XB1 has 16 ROPS.
In reality I suspect there will be a larger gap in performance.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that given 50% more ALU's and 100% more ROPS...
Lender,
I had a similar experience building a new rig for a family member. The problem was an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard. We threw that POS out (although the shop verified it as a faulty board) and bought a Gigabyte EP45-DS4 and its been smooth sailing since then.
While i am sure many will...
dont mean to hijack the thread but would you guys know of any e-tailer that would ship an Onkyo 605 over to Australia??
I hear you can get them for 250-ish in the states. Unfortunately they are still ridiculously expensive here (equiv to 600+ USD)
Cheers.
720p is a decent jump from DVD, and very noticeable on a HDTV. I have no experience with projectors...
Yes your receiver is capable. The PS3 will send Dolby Digital 5.1/7.1 or DTS 5.1/7.1 bitsream to your recevier.
However on blu-rays that have more advanced audio, like DTS Master Audio...
-Setup a media server, and stream your music, videos to your TV via the ps3 wirelessly
-Check out a couple of blu-ray titles (if you're into it)
-Folding @ Home !
-Play Uncharted, Call of Duty 4 online, and most importantly, MGS4 (but not before watching the 5 part MGS retrospective videos on...
hehe yes it seems so, thanks for your help.
Right now im pretty happy with the Xplosion, just not happy that i wasted 2 days swapping out cards and testing them instead of studying for a pharmaceutics test...
However, ill wait and see what new sound card auzen or asus bring out before...
Yeah it was set up correctly, and i tried the different settings in the advanced tab.
I took it back, tried another Prelude, and it was the same. Im guessing the problem i was experiencing wasnt really a problem at all. Maybe the particular mp3's i tested were recorded at high volumes or were...
thanks for the replies you guys!
I was using entertainment mode, with all the features turned off (CMSS-3D, Crystalizer)
The particular song that made the distortion more evident was Anberlin - Paperthin Hymn, if thats of any use :p
Im considering returning this and getting the Asus...
Thanks for the reply mope54!
I understand what you mean, but shouldn't the sound card be made so that if the volume is turned up to 100% in the windows panel, it can handle it?
I dont know whether it was DTS connect that allowed me to up-mix stereo mp3s to the surround speakers, or if it...
Btw some guy on some forum said that the high output from his X-meridian clipped his preamp or something..
Is it possible that setting the windows volume to 100% is a too high powered signal for the prelude to send to the z-5500s receiver?
Is it possible that the output is soo good that it...
Hmm looks like ive tried everything, and looks like its going back...
I doubt its a faulty card, maybe im just expecting too much?
But to me, the Xplosion sounder so much better, and using analogue it sent audio to fill all the speakers, and music sounded awesome...
By the way...
Hi, thanks for your reply!
SVM is off, and i tried two different sets of drivers, and also have tried sticking it in a different PCI slot,
Basically the problem is that over analog, audio sounds crap when the volume is turned to 100% in the vista control panel or the x-fi panel
some...
Ok, a couple of things ive noticed..
The distortion is more apparent where i turn up the volume in the windows sound control and/or the sound control for the entertainment section of the X-Fi volume panel.
This is NOT due to the speakers because even if i turn up the z5500's to ridiculous...
Hey guys,
i bought an Auzen X-Plosion Cinema 7.1 yesterday and was having some problems with surround sound in games.
Today i swapped it out with an Auzen X-Fi Prelude (cost $250 AUD) in the hope to get better sound for games and surround sound sources. Surely enough, surround...
OK,
I seem to have connected it wrong. I had the rear cable from the z-5500 station connected to the "side" output of the X-plosion.
Fixing this has made things worse. In the XEAR 3D menu, selecting 6CH output gives a picture of a setup with the surround speakers on the sides...
Going...
Also, i thought it would be important to mention that when uninstalling the drviers that came on the cd, on restart windows installed its own driver and a popup appeared saying "HDA XPLOSION 7.1 Ready to use"
I installed the new drivers on top of this. Is this ok? Im not using crappy windows...
Hey guys,
I just got an Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1 sound card for my main pc (check sig). I installed the baby, then powered up the comp and disabled the onboard audio. Then I installed the drivers that came on the driver cd...
I connected it via the analog outputs to my Logitech Z-5500's...
isn't it funny that, despite having an inferior GPU to the xbox 360 (which i agree with) , the PS3 has the best looking games of this generation of consoles (Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Uncharted: Darkes Fortunes and Metal Gear Solid 4) ...and thats the truth.
Before calling me a sony fan i...
