Windows 7 100mb System Reserved Partition

Hah, I ended up doing the same. Actually still had the unallocated space so I just used a neat little program called "Partition Wizard" to set it right.

Is there anyway to remove this partition and add it to the main one _after_ Windows 7 has already been installed?

    FS: Asus A8JS Laptop

I am offering for sale an Asus laptop in good condition (there are some scratches on the cover, but hardly noticeable). It was bought in June 2007 for school, so it's just over two years old now, but it was top of the line at the time, and it has been upgraded significantly over the last year or...

    Burst Speed Woes

    Burst Speed Woes

Hmm, well the "Intel Storage Matrix" drivers (I'm assuming these are what you mean) won't install without AHCI enabled. I'm thinking maybe there's a problem with my BIOS?

    Burst Speed Woes

I may have just figured it out. HDTune says that the drive is running in "UDMA Mode 6 (Ultra ATA/133)". I'm thinking it's running in some sort of compatibility mode such as what you mentioned! Only problem is that I don't see any of those options in my BIOS. Hmm. Oh and I'm running Vista BTW -...

    Burst Speed Woes

Maybe not actually? I did install the Intel chipset drivers if that's what you mean, but since AHCI won't work I can't load those ones. I will now.

    Burst Speed Woes

Pretty much, although the actual read speed is 65 or so (around half my burst speed) so it could be.. related. Seems odd though, you'd think that flash memory (what I can only assume the cache is made of) would be pretty indestructible. Maybe I should try the drive in another computer and see...

    Burst Speed Woes

*Bump* There's no AHCI option in the BIOS. I called tech support and they said they had the same laptop there with an AHCI option. Could this be the culprit?

    Burst Speed Woes

Sorry about that. It's an A8JS which has the Intel 945 mobile chipset. There was no jumper on the drive.

    Burst Speed Woes

I recently purchased a 500GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue for my laptop and prompty benchmarked it with HDTach. Almost everything is in line with the reviews except for burst speed which is only an appalling 122MB/sec whereas they were able to get nearly double this . Does anyone have any idea...

    Random Windowsey Problems

So I have two (minor) problems with my computer; however, the fact that I'm failing to fix them is driving me crazy! Running Vista 64 Home Premium. I've tried Google of course. Problem the first: I have a folder called "system volume information" on my external drive that WILL NOT DELETE...

    WTB DDR1

Would anyone be willing to sell me some spare DDR1 for cheap? I'm trying to breathe some new life into my brother's rather old machine. Doesn't really matter what speed it is as the machine is an old P4-based Celeron, which runs XP decently fine but... well, 256mb of ram is not enough for...

    Hard Drive

Cool. I'm assuming that's because it's slower and cooler? What about a drive for the internal?

    Hard Drive

Was thinking one internal drive for a friend, and an external drive for myself (to put into my enclosure), as well as the Scorpio for my laptop. I'm just worried since the Seagate Momentus I bought for my laptop last year is slow as balls seek-time-wise. What would you choose between...

    Hard Drive

Arg, which hard drive do I buy? I've decided on the Western Digital 500GB Scorpio Blue for my laptop after seeing ncix's sale on them (I'm in Canada.. and it's $99), as well as techreport's roundup, but what about an external? I was looking at the 1.5TB Seagate 7200.11's, but after that firmware...

Hi, I'm using Vista64 (host) with XP Pro (guest) running in Virtual PC 2007 and am trying to print something in the Virtual PC. Is this possible? The printer is connected by USB but XP doesn't seem to think it's there. Thanks.

    WTB Used MacBook

My girlfriend's looking for a MacBook (anything with Intel..) for under $600 CAD. Could pick it up in St. John's, Halifax, or Vancouver if shipping is an issue... Is this a possible price? Scratches are not a big deal and I have old ram and a hard drive that should work. Any sellers...
