It seems like you either have a defective card or the drivers are installed incorrectly (I'm leaning towards a defective card). What hardware/OS/drivers are you using?

Hello. I have a question about a HD 4830. You posted to someone about connecting addition power to the card. My card seems to randomly stop output, and the fan goes to 100%. ATI tray Tools loogs an instant temp spike to 511C. And the LED witht he D1601 OVERTEMP PROTECT is lit.

Any advice? Does extra power help this?
