I often do that with books, I'll buy a physical copy and then pirate the eBook since I'd rather use my Kindle. Physical copy should automatically come with the eBook, IMO, but they want to double dip.

I do the same thing with games. I have soft-modded consoles, and I'll rip ROMs from my own cartridges or make ISOs from my own discs, and install them onto the consoles. This is especially important to me for handheld consoles, cuz I've been robbed before. They took my DS Lite and every physical game I had except one (which I had left at home). I was soooo happy I had decided to leave my PSP at home that day (this was back in 2010). I did buy another DS Lite, but fuck buying all those games again. I just used the ROMs on my R4 card. I like having physical copies of games, but I also like the convenience of digital versions. It's handy to not have to pop in a cartridge or a disc. And with portable consoles, you can just leave the physical copies at home. Like we did back in the day with MP3 players vs music CDs.

Yupz, that's exactly how I feel too. Books, music albums, video games, movies/shows, etc. I've appreciated the rare physical game or music purchases I've made that did included a free digital copy.
 
Reviews look solid as expected. I'm slightly annoyed I have to wait an extra week to get my physical copy mailed overseas to be.

I would say the same if I wouldn't be mostly playing this portably over the holidays while I'm away. But also I'm sure it will be a long time for this game. I would expect the game to not run on any older exploited firmware and that it'll be a while before the current firmware is exploited and the game able to be dumped and decomp'd.

For one of my favorite games of all time and no western studio here to botch the game, I'm happy to spend $60 (pre-order promo price) for it.
 
The fuck Amazon. I am never ordering games from them again. How is that I place a order for the game the sec is drops then change my delivery date to the 13th? The night before it comes out. I canceled it ordered it from Walmart.

Yeah they're not great about pre-orders. I did mine from Amazon (it was cheaper), hopefully they deliver...I can wait.

Amazon screwed me too. Ordered 2 months ahead of time and they update the delivery date today from the 5th to the 10th. Contact them and the chatbot just cancels the order. Thankfully Wallmart still had them at the pre-order price and can still do delivery from store tomorrow.

Yea I went and ordered it from Walmart. It says it be delivered by 9am tomorrow. Couldn't give a shit about the foil cover. Proabaly wouldn't got it either if they pushed it out to the 13th.

Wow, Amazon dropping the ball and Walmart coming in clutch for people. The last time I pre-ordered a game from Amazon was back in 2009, and thankfully that did arrive on launch day. Seems like these days they can't be trusted for shit.
 
My physical discounted copy still shows as arriving tomorrow from Amazon. I pre-ordered within a couple of hours of them going up. I better get the foil cover :p... honestly will be kinda disappointed if I don't.

I don't understand how retailers do that. That's essentially selling copies they don't have. If they don't have them, they shouldn't sell them. And I understand that for early pre-orders they clearly don't have stock yet, but they should have some idea of how many units they are gonna get. They shouldn't pre-sell more than that.

Mine is out for delivery now. I have 3 Walmarts within my delivery zone but it's coming from the one I think takes the longest to get to. I wonder if they're seeing high demand as well and had to switch stores.

Edit: delivered and it's the foil version.

I am at work so I haven't grabbed it yet. If amazon actually delivered it today I still ptoabaly wouldn't have gotten it til 9 pm.
 
Mine originally said Tuesday from Amazon, now it says it shipped and it's tomorrow - but it's coming from KS so...I have doubts.
 
Put in a preorder late last night and dropped by the store today to pick up my physical copy. Price wasn't too bad either, around $55 + VAT. The game loaded to menu screen with no connection so seems to be a complete game, but did update before I started playing. Only played like 90 mins or so, but been very good so far.
 
Hounded my gf all day to keep a lookout for the Amazon delivery, it's in her hand and she gives me this on the ring camera...

Beat the Deku Tree dungeon. Man this game is a blast. I’ve not played Ocarina of Time since I was in middle school. They’ve nailed it imo. The graphics are fantastic. Not blurry at all! It’s certainly not 4k but even on my 77” oled it looks great! The gameplay is amazing. Nintendo pulled this off. I know what I’ll be spending my weekend on.
