"eBay plans to cut about 1,000 jobs, or 9% of its workforce, as CEO Jamie Iannone moves to redirect resources toward the company's fastest-growing businesses. Reuters reports:The company had 12,300 employees at the end of last year. It also let go about 6% of its workforce, or 800 employees, in February as part of efforts to streamline operations. EBay has set itself apart from rivals by pushing into authenticated luxury goods, collectibles and refurbished products, which draw enthusiasts willing to pay more for valuable items. That has helped its shares rise nearly 40% this year, outperforming the benchmark S&P 500's around 12% gain.

"Our strategy is working," Iannone said in the memo, adding that "continuing to capture the significant opportunity ahead requires us to make thoughtful choices about where we focus and invest." He said affected staff would be informed in the coming days."

I like eBay alot good place to buy forgotten relics that people claim is junk. Just picked up two Artograph prism projectors for dirt cheap and a table stand gave my other projectors to goodwill.

I loved EBay when I could buy cool second hand tech bargains. These days it's full of EBay stores peddling Chinese junk, and the tech bargains have all but disappeared - I'm no longer interested.
you got to check "ships from USA" or "ships from north america".

similar to how you have to do on Newegg if you still browse there.

I sell through them, only because there is nowhere else.
You can't even buy or sell high priced electronics without them holding your funds.
They also apparently now redirect high priced packages for pickup only, if you aren't there to receive the delivery.

For awhile they had dozens of classified listings where people were just scamming others. They made no money on it so I can only imagine they were only trying to put Craiglist and Fakebook Marketplace out of business. They finally killed off that fraud nightmare.

Also, they removed the ability to report fraud.
They removed the ability to leave feedback on bait and switchers who cancel auctions or try to commit fraud, if the seller refunds the money.
They automatically give postive feedback on high priced items once it is delivered... apparently unless you're a low volume seller.

Everything is automated.
