The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

So I'm stuck at this part.. Any idea where triss house is at.. The round orange way point just takes me to a fast travel post.. I just beat the djin and had an affectionate moment with Jennefer!!

Love that it is another DLC on the way. I finished the game last autumn and have been pondering starting Witcher 2, which I discovered I actually had a physical copy of from when it was launched but never played.
W2 is great! I blew through that game loving the lore.
W1 mechanics / controls are a challenge. Not done & not played for months.

You're in Skellige, and her house is in Novigrad. This is why the quest marker is pointing to the fast travel post.

Thank you for the reply. I can't find novigrad on the map anywhere. I'm not good at open world games forgive me...how do I locate it

Search for a walkthrough, ask Ai, use google image search, watch a youtube video...

Any tool - just ask "Wichter 3 novigrad on map" or Triss House, etc.

Go up to the fas travel marker and activate. It'll bring up a map that you can move with mouse or controller. Move down and slightly to the right to find Novigrad.

Crazy that they are releasing a new expansion for this 11 year old game and not the 4 year old one everyone is asking them for.

I look at the Songs of the Past expansion more as a prologue to Witcher 4 than an expansion to Witcher 3

I do wonder about that, too. W3 is basically one of the most complete, perfect games out there with the 2 ex-packs. This better be the best damn ex-pack ever released to not tarnish the reputation of the W3.

I understand that Fool's Theory studio is mostly ex CDPR people that worked on the Witcher series in some capacity, so this was probably an easy choice for them, and with the upcoming W4, I get that they are likely trying to build up the hype for the new game, but this is a huge gamble, IMO.

If this becomes a huge success, I wouldn't be surprised to see another CP2077 ex-pack... possibly, from Fool's Theory as well.. after all, both games run on the same-ish engine. I just can't imagine them doing anything better than PL.

Bit concerned about this, too. I wouldn't want it to be like some show reboot where it's like 'ehhhh, this didn't need to happen'.

I do wonder where it'll fit in, too. Like, they'll either do a continuation from the ending which would have to pull it off in a way that still respects how well Blood & Wine's endings wrapped it up (just tonally), or do some back-in-time experience thing.

Though I'm hopeful that with the original voice casts (I only care about the Polish ones) and new music it will elevate the experience either way.

Off topic, but what in the actual hell is the deal with all the keyboard moving towards not having a number pad? Why would you NOT want a number pad?
bing says: "Gamers often prefer TKL keyboards because the reduced width allows for wider mouse movements and better ergonomics, improving comfort and control during gameplay"

I hate this. I use it for extra buttons, recording hot keys, etc. Some games do have a lot of functions and I occasionally use them in games like ArmA or DCS. Yeah you can add extra keys on but that just makes them non-standard and adds height, or are to the left of the control/TAB key which is annoying. Nothing should be to the left of those.

Because it's a keyboard, not a cash register. Numpad is good if you're an accountant I suppose. Personally I never touched the thing. TKL keyboards free up desk space and allow for a more natural spacing of your arms and less chance of hitting your mouse against your keyboard.

A lot of people never or rarely use the numpad, me included, and it takes up space on the desk. I mostly use 80% keyboards, which is only numpad part taken away, even at work. They take up less space so it is less of a compromise with the positioning of either your left hand on the keyboard or your right hand on the mouse. Modern keyboards can have many layers so you have plenty of space for macros etc. if you need it. Personally I use mostly the main layer and occasionally a few keys on the second layer.

Crazy that they have another expansion for the Witcher 3. It is a great game so I might play it, even if I was kinda done with it after close to 100 hours in it. Must admit that I really really want a second expansion for CP 2077, so it feels a bit bittersweet that the game that already got 2 expansions is getting a 3rd, while the game that is in my top 5 only got 1.

I don't use the numpad. Every key I need is on the main layout to include the top numbers and function keys.

I do use the numpad outside of gaming on a daily basis.

I use the # pad for all games since I use the arrow keys.

0-Reload
1-Melee
4-Gernades or throwables
7-Specials or powers or sensors etc.
2-Weapon firing type, ammo type
5-Gernade types or tool types
3-Prone
8&9-Orders
Del-Inventory
End-Health
Pagedn-Powers, abilities, hold breath, parry
Pageup-Flashlight, nightvision etc.
Ins-Journal, notes etc.
Enter-Jump, Mantel
Rshift-Sprint, cover
Ctrl-Crouch, sneak

For the Witcher 3, I had to use most of the left side of the KB too, lots of buttons in this game. :D

For gaming, I don't recall the last time I used the number pad. However, I use my computer for more than just gaming. I've had a couple of nice TKL keyboards, but I ended up missing the 10-key for productivity uses.

I got a keyboard with a removeable keypad, I removed it some years ago to make more room for the mouse and have never missed it.

I use a 68% keyboard which is even smaller than a TKL. I also have a wireless numpad that I use when working remote. It's the best of both worlds.
