Anyone overclocking their 9070 XT?

Is there any way to know if your undervolt won't crash ever or is it a crapshoot on a per game title basis? I haven't bothered with it at all, but I'd like something stable.
Run stability loops with 3DMark is about the only way that gets you a good chunk of the way there. Otherwise yeah it is just gaming. Push, test, push, test. I do it pretty safely. Right now I have a Nitro+ 9070 XT and I started at -50 mV, 10% power limit, 2700MHz memory timing, no freq offset. After multiple rounds of Fortnite, etc:

It’s a crapshoot, but with a little searching you can probably find your “worst case scenario” game or software. If that one’s stable for a full session, you’re good to go in all the others. Assetto Corsa is that game for me. I’d at least try to do -40 or -50 UV, otherwise you could be leaving a lot of performance on the table. It’s not just the average clocks that undervolting helps, it’s the clock and frame rate stability.
 
Unless something has changed since launch, don’t touch the frequency slider, just find your undervolt and leave frequency at +0. Setting an increased frequency slider will actually reduce your in-game clocks, according to early OCers after launch. My 9070 non-XT hits 3 GHz at -70 mv, sometimes as high as 3.3, so an XT should clock itself at 3.1 to 3.3 with a stock power limit and a similar undervolt.
This is correct. Don't increase the frequency slider at best it won't help at all and at worst it will hurt the OC. The only sliders that do anything to help OC a 9070 XT are the undervolt slider first and foremost.

Second the max power percentage slider (usually you set it to max but depending on the temps the card gets to the sweet spot might be less)

And last the VRAM frequency. Just watch that the VRAM temps under load are not just baking at 95C or higher all the time.
 
Does anyone else need to run their memory frequency at strange numbers to get it to report even frequencies? For example if I wanted 2700mhz on the VRAM I would need to configure it to run at 2714 otherwise it reports as 2699, same goes for 2800 needing to be 2816.
 
Because electronics engineering is not as precise as most think it is. Voltage drift is extremely hard to control precisely and oscillators vary by nature. The amount of effort to make it all perfectly rounded by numbers is cost prohibitive and it makes little to no difference in the grand scheme of things.

I dont mean the usual few mhz difference, I mean it consistently seems to take almost exactly 14 mhz over desired frequency to have GPUz report the settings you want. Setting memory freq to 2764 in adrenaline shows a frequency of 2750 at load in the GPUz sensor tab, but the graphics card tab in GPUz shows the 2564 that it should be set to. Its not a big deal, but it does seem a little odd that its pretty consistent.
 
Can't speak of software monitoring as I have little to no experience writing code. Maybe it is that way to simplify/minimize the coding required to generate a reasonable output. Surely someone here can articulate a reasonable explanation.
 
Ive just picked up 9070xt and started playing with UV and OC. Is it normal for gpu to clock like 3289mhz in Fire Strike and in Steel Nomad its only like 3022mhz ?

Currently getting best results with Voltage -125mv, memory 2920mhz, 10% power. Offset doesnt do much for me so leave it 0mhz.

My best score in fire strike is 42847 and 7830 in Nomad. I think theres more there for what ever reason i cant post past 5ghz on cpu anymore, used to bench at 5.3ghz few years back, still on 12700k and z690-i Strix Gaming in ssf case.

Xfx good little card! Just made the switch from green team.

yes. everything i play on my 9070 has different max. pga tops out around 2900, horizon 6 tops out around 3100, motorsport spikes to 32-3300....
dont touch the freq slider, it doesnt do shit and dont expect -125 to be stable in everything. i can run -150 in 3dmark all day but get massive freq. spikes/voltage dips that cause a lock up in games. (tries to run at 3500 at like .9v)

I only played a bit of OW2, so havent tested it in real world gaming. But will get back into sim racing.

would be if it ran at that. the card cant provide enough voltage and starts to freak out when it breaks 3400, i see it in afterburners graph, max ive seen it log was ~3520.
BUT it is sustaining ~9070xt speeds, lowest it runs at is ~2600, and it beats a 5070ti in some stuff....
 
I've found MSI Afterburner to be better than AMD's Adrenalin as far as stability and performance goes. Mine can only undervolt to -75mV at the most with anything above +100MHz Memory being unstable. I have 5 presets saved in Afterburner.
1 = +100MHz Memory and -75mV Offset and +5% Power Limit
2 = +100MHz Memory and -75mV Offset
3 = +100MHz Memory and -50mV Offset
4 = +100MHz Memory and -25mV Offset
5 = +100MHz Memory

I'm going to keep track of what's stable for each game I play, but I 007 First Light I had to use #3, and PRAGMATA was fine with #1.

which version you using. im on 4.6.7 beta 1 and its a bit flakey. i kept hitting the check for update button and it says nothing available, but i manually looked just now and there is a beta 2...

ps: a few new updated about it on the forum, looks like the war situation is affecting him again...

I never use the beta versions. Mine is 4.6.6.16757.

I have had the 9070XT, and 9950X3D for that matter, for over a year but all still running stock. I really need to look up some videos how to undervolt both things for better performance and cooling. Any good guides?

it doesnt take a guide. lower the voltage until you start to crash in games, then turn it back up a bit.
