What Mouse and Keyboard Are You Using Right Now?

What are your options other than actuation distance? If you're using it for games it might be useful to set up alternative actions on a full press.

There are a few types of magnetic switch types, they are Hall Effect (HE), Inductive, and finally Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR).

They can all give you similar functionality of fine grained key presses. The main 2 you'll see used are HE and TMR. HE is a bit old school now; it has been used to replace the old resistive analog sticks in game controllers for a few years now but TMR has been the new meta for over a year now. Inductive keyboards are a thing but basically irrelevant, I think the only thing they have going for them are extremely low power usage compared to HE/TMR.

Keyboards were a bit late to the game for HE and TMR. Main difference for keyboards is HE switches require the switch to be directly underneath the key in the center, whereas TMR has a few sensors that are offset from the center. What does this mean for us? It means that TMR keyboards are COMPATIBLE with traditional mechanical switches. Now, if you use mechanical switches then the keyboard won't have that fine grained control but what you can do is mix and match switches, so have TMR sensitive keys only on WASD and then the rest be traditional mechanical. You can't do that with HE keyboards.

Many keyboards continue to advertise HE when they are really using TMR now. It is just a marketing thing, more people know about HE but functional wise they are basically the same. Other benefits include lower power usage (better for wireless keyboards) and maybe better resolution on the key presses.

Turn on rapid trigger. That's the biggest advantage of a HE keyboard.
As soon as the key starts moving back up then down it instantly reactivates. This helps both typing and gaming accuracy and speed.


Wireless for keyboards is kinda pointless unless you're couch gaming, or obsessed with aesthetics. For mice it actually helps physical accuracy because the wire pulling and dragging causes inconsistent resistance.

Depends what your use case is.

For me it's still the G502X with a powerplay mouse mat. It has all the buttons and features, mouse tilt and a toggle for free wheeling and the power play mat means you never need to worry about batteries. It's expensive, you pay for all of those features.

If you want the best for pure fps gaming and don't need all those features there are insanely light mice out there. They cut back on all the features to be so light. For me these aren't worth it because I use all the other features while not gaming, and don't want to switch mice and lose out on all the muscle memory I develop with the other one.

You may like the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro, I swap between my G502X and the Razer. I prefer the Razer for general work, the scrolling is way smoother on it. Even got to the point where my gf requested one for work, we had tried the MX Master mice before but they are so heavy and clunky in comparison. The G502X clicks are a little more annoying sounding and the horizontal scrolling has like a 1 second delay before it kicks in that is infuriating

I am currently trying RAWM Leviathan V4 and also have MChose A7 V2 Ultra Plus on the way. The Leviathan is literally like a feather coming from a G502.
 
Well here are the mice I am using. In love with both the HE keyboard upgrade and the mice that I have. Both are 10/10 for me.

I got out my old Logitech G500 Laser mouse.. center click wasn't working taking appart an reseating springs (tiny springs) seems to have got it working... However the right mouse button is not clicky at all the button works (most of the time but no clicky / feedback) I think replacing the switch should resolve this? (thoughts?) anyway I really liked this mouse in 2011 and I think** if I can resolve the right click I may start using it for awhile again now...

I use the built-in keyboard on my ASUS laptop and have been using a wired Logitech mouse for over seven years.

Got an Ergodox with MX clears to try out awhile ago. The KB itself is alright but I dislike the force required for the switches.
 
Keychron Q1 HE with a Lamzu Thorn 4K for gaming & Logitech G502X for work and browsing. Asus Moonstone Ace L glass mousepad. Considering picking up a Logi Superstrike too. Love variety.

Logitech K360 Wireless Keyboard and Logitech MX Master 4 which was purchased yesterday. Loving the mouse. Has decent weight and is smooth.

Think I'll keep what I have for now, I have no issues with the scrolling, and Logi software is bad enough without having to deal with Synapse and all of it's compatibility issues with other programs.
I've had a few Razer KB's that really got on my nerves because of software issues. But then again that was years ago.
 
Long time Deathadder lover here. I've owned every model since my 3.5G ~2009. The most perfect shape of any gaming mouse for my hands. I just bought the Deathadder V4 Pro a few weeks ago.....the V3 was superb but the V4 now has the same magically wonderful coating the Viper V3 has....now it's perfect.
 
Topre Type Heaven keyboard I won from a contest/raffle on HardOCP about 12 years ago, and an EVGA X20 mouse. And the best mouse pad ever, Ratpadz! The keyboard has lived at my office at HCL and then Gulfstream for the last 12 years, just brought it home for a deep cleaning. Thing still works and looks good as new. It ain't flashy, but it's built like a tank and is a dream to type on.

fixed the scroll wheel issue on one of my Sensei Ten mice today.... was not scrolling up properly had switch over to the 2nd Sensei Ten I bought when I figured out they we're not being made anymore.... The scroll wheel was just sort of gunked up a bit of cat hair having made it's way into the mouse scroll wheel ... cleaned that out scrolling fine now... need to buy some new skates however I guess.. the old ones are bit hosed.

I went down the keyboard rabbit hole recently. Even built my own. My favorite right now is te Akko mod007 V3. I replaced the switches with Gateron Jade Max's. It's very, very, nice.
 
My Logitech G915 is starting to die a slow death thanks to the integrated battery. Anybody have any experience replacing one or paying to have a professional do so?

Just bought a Pulsar X2 Crazylight medium and love it. I was really reluctant to try Pulsar because of all their past QC issues but all the reviewers were saying their new stuff is rock solid. Got about 20 hours on it so far and am loving it. Really like the shape.
