Battlefield 6

Giving thanks tow missiles was a huge mistake. On most maps helicopters are unflyable. Tanks just sit in their spawn protection literally all game and shoot tow missiles at helicopters because it's fun and it's very easy to pick them off with this new tow missile in comparison to before. It takes a couple tow missiles and half a dozen rockets to take out a tank but a tank can take out a helicopter with one tow missile. It's so boring.

I hope you play with a gamepad...

Nope. I won’t buy it unless it goes on deep discount even with the add. I didn’t like beta at all, but the lack of a server browser was one of big reasons I quit Battlefield. I am not playing anything else though now that my gamepass expired so figure if it goes on sale cheap enough I might get my moneys worth.

The beta was enough to show me the game was designed around a controller.

Ya the game is super casual console/gamepad focused slop. The franchise is really not for the competitive PC type players anymore.

I own gamepad players. They may have the aim bonus but they just don't seem to have the precise reflex in movement that m/kb has.

Besides...

In close quarters maps, the aim-assist and low recoil if used by a good gamepad player can really be OP. If they didn't have all these artificial assists, they'd be on the bottom half of the scoreboard. On Hagental; console players routinely are top of the scoreboard, which is hilarious for crappy low FPS consoles and the worst type of input method for an FPS.

I don't really see the point, may as well just make your own war movie IP. As a multiplayer focused game, there is little reason to tie down a film to anything game related. You'll see small Easter eggs and whatnot thrown in probably as a nod to the gameplay but multiplayer gameplay loops have such little relevance to film making that they often come off as odd. The campaigns are nothing special that is worthy of adapting to a movie either. I suppose that is one reason why they are doing film adaptations of multiplayer focused games now, they don't really need to follow a plot or story, they can essentially make up their own. In which case they may as well just drop the Battlefield IP and focus on making a good war film.

Would I watch a war movie? Of course, but naming it after a video game and having little to no resemblance to it doesn't make me more eager to see it. If anything my expectations get lowered. It seems like they are attaching a name to a mediocre product to help it sell better and well all know that doesn't make it a better product.

I don't get what they were going for with the weapon balance in this game.

M433, B36, and DRS are probably better than 90% of the other automatic weapons in the game in 90% of the situations. They're basically just great at everything while other weapons have a niche that makes them fantastic in one very particular scenario and meh everywhere else.

Like great, this carbine is more effective within 15 feet. And literally does 23 damage headshots down a hallway so you need to smack someone in the head 5 times as they peek over a barricade. Or oh cool, the NVO has an advantage within spitting distance and then does the same damage as other weapons with a 200 RPM faster fire rate. Why.

Really think they wiffed with unlocked weapons. DRS shouldn't have existed for support because it just turns into the best AR in the game. I think they wiffed with the class balance in general. I don't know why I would play anything other than support. Free cover, heals, ammo, revives, all on demand. It's crazy stacked.

Not a huge fan of the B36 as the M277, DRS, CORD etc. makes it mostly irrelevant. The B36 advantage was the low recoil and being easy to control, but the latest tuning passes made everything much lower recoil so the low recoil guns are generally only good for very long engagements or for people with bad recoil control.

You are forgetting guns like the TR-7, SCW, CZ3A1, VCR-2 etc. Most engagements happen at under 30 meters in BF6 and the TR-7 is just nasty in that range, even if it is difficult to handle, and similar applies to the VCR-2. The SCW and CZ3A1 are crazy good at sub 9m and still quite good up to around 30 meters if you use them right. The CZ3A1 works decently at 50 meters as well as the recoil is so low.

The advantage of the NVO is that it lets you go against most guns in the range where aim doesn't matter much and it is quite manageable at longer ranges where recoil control, positioning and aim is more important. The nerf they did to it made it quite a bit worse when they buffed everything else, but still good for pushing close quarters while maintaining the ability to engage at distances.

They nerfed the SG 553 as well. I can understand why but I think it got a bit too much of a nerf. TR-7 is extremely good up close but the recoil is too high even at medium ranges, so it is a specialized use case.

If by medium ranges you mean 50-100m, then I would agree, but lower than that then it works fine. It just takes a lot of practice to get to grips with how to control the recoil. It needs to be tap fired 1-2 bullets at a time at 40m and with slight mouse movement to compensate for recoil, but it is quite usable.

The SG 553 received less of a nerf IMO and is still quite good.

Played some games, they nerfed the CZ Scorpion real bad. Used to be a 3-5 KDR gun, now it is barely 1-1. I get maybe it needed a bit of a nerf but now it is practically useless. Seems like any time something is decent they make it useless. Soon there will be no good guns left to use. Tanks got a massive nerf last patch as well. People just suck and complain so they just nerf everything so hard to make losers feel better. BF Labs or whatever is probably the worst thing to happen to this game.

I assume this is meant as irony? The CZ3A1 is just ridiculous in the current patch and so many guns have been buffed that there are at least 5 great full auto guns and another 10 really good ones in the pool. Stuff that is low DPS, low recoil and high accuracy are the ones who are suffering as most guns have had their effective range doubled since launch.

I've used it in a few games and it is trash now, IMO. Tank LMG seems to have got a big nerf as well. Seems hard to kill someone else they're standing still.

Used the CZ3A1 in a few games yesterday and it was easy 5 and 6 k/d and barely had to work for it. It is still one of the most OP guns below 20m and still decent at ranges it should be almost useless at. Not sure why you would call it trash.

The time it takes to kill someone is much longer than most guns. Even if you start shooting someone with it, someone else will kill your target first most of the time. Its effective range is maybe 20 or so feet. Most guns will shoot further or do more damage to make it kind of irrelevant. You need a full mag and full health to potentially survive any encounter. It works okay if you hide in a corner, but that is about it. You can get a kill with 5-10 shots with most guns, this requires a good 25+.

They nerfed the vehicles far too much as well. Unless someone is standing still and you can fire a whole string from the LMG, you have zero change of killing someone. Killing moving targets is not viable. IFV's splash damaged was reduced to practically nothing. You need to get point blank to get damage hits but even then you get instantly disabled by an RPG. At range, even if you get a good 7-9 hits, they can just run away during the travel time. The reload time means you'll get killed by them (they can out range the IFV by 4-5 times) or they just run away.

They more or less killed the game with the last patch. As always, multiplayer game devs are some of the most retarded people in existence. I wish someone would take a metal baseball bat to whoever signed off on the "balancing" changes and cave their head in.

I don't have those problems, not sure if you have a crappy build or if you are using the gun wrong. It should to be tap fired beyond 10-15m, which maintains the low recoil and extended barrel is a must.

The CZ3A1 has more recoil than most of the SMGs so full n00b mode is not good beyond 10-15 meters. Basically just spraying will miss a lot beyond CQB. It needs to be tap fired with quick taps of 2-4 bullets in quick succession at depending on range. At 25m it can be fired in very quick taps, almost as fast as full auto, and still be quite accurate. Running targets is slightly worse, due to low muzzle velocity, so it needs to be compensated at range.

This is the build I use, which is great for CQB and works OK at 40 or so meters as long as you handle the gun the right way. It has angled grip, green laser, extended barrel, CQB supressor, fast mag and 1x sight:

The Summer of BF6. It'll be a year soon but its getting there...

The thing I am looking forward to the most is the recoil increases. Should increase the skill gap quite a bit, if the leaks are correct, as the nastiest guns should require much more skill to handle in season 3. Right now you barely need any recoil control if you slap a 35 point vertical on something like a VCR-2, thankfully that will most likely change in season 3.

People keep saying this, but I can build a VCR-2 for max recoil control and it's still ass at like 20m.
It just randomly jerks you to the left like crazy once in a while. But when I see YouTube clips it looks like a fkn lazer. I just don't get it. TR-7 has more recoil but it acts better for me than the VCR.

I'm sure everybody has their favorite weapons, regardless of stats. For me the TR-7 is an under rated rifle and it's the only assault rifle I use for the Assault class. Not good for long range but the Assault class isn't meant for long range play style ;)

It can be full autoed at 20m with OK accuracy, but ideally you would start to tap fire on most guns when past 10-15m. Taps would be super rapid, like 2-3 bullets per tap and almost no pause between them. Sure you won't be hitting multiple headshots in a row at 20m at full auto, but it has very manageable recoil. It is a good gun out to around 40 meters and it is one of the best guns in the game at 20m or less. I wouldn't want to use at beyond 60 meters though.

Groupings at 20m while using the entire 30 round mag.
  • Red: full auto
  • Yellow: full auto with recoil compensation (not the best compensation, but it gives an idea of what is possible)
  • Green: very fast tap firing with 2-3 bullets per tap

Keep in mind that mobility affects how much accuracy you lose when moving while ADS. The higher your mobility, the higher your accuracy will be while moving. Typically sub 40 is so so accuracy, 50 gives decent accuracy, while 60 is quite accurate.

Upcoming recoil increases don't seem good. The SG 553R got a recoil increase which made sense, not sure it needs another 10% more. Seems like the average range will decease a good bit, which is not what the game needs. In BF4 you could more accurately shoot out to further distances. Seems like they want everything to happen at close range and those that are good at shooting further are going to be penalized.

They are talking about nerfing controller recoil reduction, but the overall weapon increases might neutralize that for PC users.

It is probably more of a correction to make more guns usable, than a massive nerf for PC users. The rumors are that they reduce global recoil mitigation from 22% to 11% for controller so if a PC user gets 10% higher recoil then a controller user gets around 22% higher recoil. They would get 0% global recoil mitigation and around 35% higher recoil in that case, if it was up to me.

The guns rumored to be receiving the largest nerfs are those that are extremely overpowered below 21m, like the TR-7, VCR-2 etc. so they will most likely be more of "role" gun than overall powerhouses. It will allow for more guns to have a "good" engagement range. The DRS-IAR does get too small a recoil increase though, from the numbers I've seen. That gun is my overall favorite, but it is good at all ranges with only drawback being the high draw time as heavy extended is the best barrel for it.

My guess is that most guns will be closer to what they were in the beta, but still slightly lower recoil. The beta had more of a choice and choices came with drawbacks when picking guns. It was: do you want OK overall gun that is good at mid range, a gun that is good at close range or a gun that is good at long range. Very few guns were good at more than one range.

Now it feels like most guns that are OP at close range are still fairly good at mid range (21-40m), causing a lot of the high accuracy but lower DPS guns to be almost irrelevant. Very few engagements in BF 6 happens at further distances than 50m and the majority of engagements are probably at closer than 30m. It pushes people towards high DPS guns and very few high DPS guns are a "bad choice" on the more open maps.

Right now something like the SOR-556, AK-205 and to some extent L85A3 etc. are almost unusable as they struggle to compete with a lot of the faster firing alternatives at 21m (after second damage dropoff) because the high DPS guns are too accurate. Having tried to level them in the current season, I can use them on the more open maps but I am at a massive disadvantage at below 30m as all the high DPS guns are so accurate. Generally you want to be at 40-50 meters, or more, when engaging with those guns. They were OK at the 3rd damage stage (approx. 21m+) at launch, because the other guns were much less accurate. You hit all your shits, but they only need to hit 70-80% of theirs and you end up losing due to low DPS.

The recoil increase will also give more room for moving from cover to cover, without smokes, as there will be much less laser beams. Most guns are pretty much laser beams in the current version and half of them are DPS monsters on top of that.

Downloading now. Hopefully they curtailed this absolutely laughable beaming controller players can do with aim assist and no recoil. Not high hopes for this totally inept company.

Just played Golmud in Escalation Mode and its friggin' good. Yuge map, lots of cover! I didn't care for Golmud in BF4 but its really good in BF6. Can't wait to play moar later today!

DICE is listening to the player feedback and it shows.

Had the opposite thoughts, it could do with a little more cover and a little less wide open spaces. If you like sniping (or picking off stragglers while in a vehicle) this is the map for you. I can see primarily infantry players eventually removing this map from their rotation once the honeymoon phase wears off. Map empowers snipers too much and provides too little cover for infantry players. Vehicles feel somewhat balanced on it though.

Not a bad attempt as there is fun to be had on it (esp in Escalation as it hides some of the map design problems by removing the poor areas of the map as the match progresses) - but imo Contaminated was/is vastly superior to this map.

New map is pretty much a vehicle only map. It is pretty shit for inf play as there are massive sight lines, very little cover on 80% of the map and MGs on tanks are way to accurate over distance. If you are playing inf, you mainly stay around C, E, F and D in conquest, rest are pretty pointless to rush to. Good luck getting reviwed as well, pretty much 24 engineers, 4 assaults, 4 recons and 2 support players in the games I've had so far.

As long as there is a good TDM/Domination version available that is okay. Conquest needs more vehicle focus maps. Will try this out in a few days.

Do anyone play TDM or Domination? Most likely the map will end up like operation firestorm, with snipers camping and the rest queuing for armored vehicles, choppers and jets.

Golmud 2026 is a good mix of vehicle and infantry which is what BATTLEFIELD is all about. There were too many infantry only maps in BF6 already imho.

I thought i could use my SVK in golmund but what typically ends up happening is i start with a vehicle and end up in the middle of the fight where its useless, or similarly just spawn near the middle of the action and its useless. Don't think long range is something useful (at least in escalation mode where it bunches you up)

edit: yeah conquest is wayyy different in this one. objectives very far from each other for the entire duration of the match.

Agree. I play TDM/DOM a whole lot, but the larger vehicle Conquest maps were lacking a lot more. If this plays like the BF4 map I'll be happy. If they put too much clutter and cover like Firestorm in BF6 that might be a problem.

I don't think they changed any gameplay settings. Feels exactly the same as before. Controller kids still advance to the head of the line.

The new map is good in escalation as the worst parts get removed in the first two rounds, but in conquest it is queue for an armored vehicle or aircraft.

Not a huge fan of it in breakthrough as it is so wide that you will have snipers on both sides of the map, well out of any automatic range, taking potshots at you. Most of the objectives aren't that fun to fight over in breakthrough either.

The M16A4 might be one of the best, if not the best, AR in the game once you have leveled it up. It is really painful to use until you get the heavy barrel, due to the bursts going all over the place. Basically it needs quite a bit of recoil reduction attachments to be good. With heavy extended barrel, full angled or more recoil reduction, that thing is like a laser and can be fired as fast as possible at almost all ranges. Also pretty good in full auto mode, kind of like the AR version of the DRS in many ways. Faster ADS, but also slightly more recoil in full auto mode and less points to spend (full auto costs 25 points).
