Starfield

Todd Howard says there's no Starfield 2.0 coming

Bethesda will start talking about the future of Starfield "really soon," but he warned that it may not be all that some fans are hoping for:

"It is not Starfield 2.0. I've seen some of that—for expectation-setting, I think it's the kind of thing where, if you love Starfield, we think you're gonna love this. It's updates and things that change the game, not in an isolated way, but sort of meta, using outer space and things in ways that we haven't

But look, is Starfield something that didn't connect with you right away, or you bounced off it or found it boring in places—I don't think this is going to change that fundamentally"...

The entire 2 fans if that left playing the game?

Thats ok they can leave it alone so my mods don't break. Meanwhile, I finally spent some of those coins on the creation club (I had 1000 idk where they came from I never bought any) for the ASC Deimos mod so I could finally make a decent replica of the Qwaar-Jet Battlecruiser from Homeworld.

The panels are a real game changer (pun intended) for what shapes you can create. The Antares one is great too, more slick looking though and less industrial.
I've been playing with that mod for quite a while. It's a definite game changer. Ship is 85 meters long and has 5 decks.

Dang thats a big one. This is my current favorite, I wanted to design something that looked like it belonged in the universe as a "ship of the line" being slightly larger than what the UC calls a Destroyer. Its much heavier, faster, and better armed so I consider it something like a Battlecruiser.

It's heavily armed too. Comically so. In fact, I have four fixed guns on it which are what I primarily use. That and missiles. The turrets, when powered on pretty much insta-kill anything. Each of those turrets is actually two turrets sharing a single mount for a total of 28. (More than the game can actually handle.) If I open up on even the UC Vigilance, it immediately FTL's the fuck out.

Yeah I've been poking around looking for a way to get around the hard coded limit of 4 auto-turrets per weapon type but it seems the game just can't do it so you're limited to 12 max. I also really, really wish missiles could launch a different direction than straight forward, although it seems as if the Starborn launchers might be able to. I haven't had time to test this yet.

Starfield: Free Lanes & Terran Armada Official Announce Trailer

https://bethesda.net/en/article/7IxZSKYwYm1oDr57rXDx4C/starfield-free-lanes-terran-armada

Starfield: Terran Armada is a major expansion and content update for Bethesda's sci-fi RPG, launching April 7, 2026, alongside the game's release on PlayStation 5...it introduces a new storyline featuring a mysterious, advanced, and partly cybernetic military force from the Colony War...the Terran Armada story DLC will be available for $9.99

The upcoming free Starfield update, which Lead Creative Producer Timothy Lamb said is the biggest since the game's launch in September 2023, is called 'Free Lanes' and introduces the long-awaited ability to roam within star systems thanks to the so-called Cruise mode...players can activate it from their ship, choosing between four speed tiers, accessible via the boost system...to make things interesting during these intra-system trips, the space between planets has been populated with radiant anomalies, wreckages, derelict ships, and dynamically loaded new hostile encounters

However, players can also lock onto a destination via autopilot and walk freely around their ship (cooking, decorating, talking to crew) while travelling, with a compass in the corner counting down to arrival...

Excited about the upcoming update. Not excited that I'll have to uninstall around 700 mods because they'll be incompatible with the new update. Such is life.

Decided to keep my fleet down to just two or three ships. Been working on The Frontier getting it up to where I want it to be. Still got a bit of work to do but it is coming along nicely.

I will be reinstalling this for that new content. That is a lot closer to what this game should have been in the first place. I am pretty impressed with these planet killer ships you all are making, too. I am feeling inspired. ;)

I made the flying salmon fillet, it'll be refurbished with stronker turrets when I get to another spaceport that has them available. This was purpose built to fight Watchtower fleets with 20k shields.

Seems like the upcoming expansion will be $10, half the price of Shattered Space. I assume this means it will be about half as long. Shattered Space took me over 20 hours. If this is 7-10 hours that will be okay, assuming the story and quest design is better. I suppose I will play it to see if they improved upon that. The first expansion fixed the constant fast traveling issues, but story and dialogue design was quite bad. I'm curious to see if Bethesda was able to learn from their mistakes and are using this expansion as a way to experiment with making interesting quest design. But I have low expectations. However it is included for those that own the premium edition, so seemingly I will have it and will give it a try.

Tracker's Alliance update dropped with five more missions added. One is a continuation of one of the original two. Update can be found in Creations.

I've played two of the side missions so far and they are an upgrade in quality over the original two.

Same.
You probably have the Premium version which you get Terran Armada for free if owned.

Appears to be the case.

Started Starfield without SFSE. So far it appears that several non-SFSE mods are working though I'll know more when entering ship builder and check on settings and various locations.

Edit: DarkStar Manufacturing Vox Slates isn't working.

Edit 2: StarUI isn't working. Will uninstall until it is updated.

Edit 2a: StarUI Shipbuilder is also non-op.

Edit 3: Miner looted one of the dead Crimson Fleet and used the weapon on the other pirates. Either I wasn't previously paying attention (unlikely) or this is a new game feature.

Edit 4: New PoI

Cave Hideout
Abandoned Tower - really fun!
New variant of Crashed Ship
Scrap Metal foundry - really fun!
Pilliaged Colony Outpost
Illicit Surgery Center
Decommissioned UC Missile Silo
Explorer's Refuge
Ship Stop
Defunct Shipping Facility
Meteorite Mine
Mineral Farm
Depleted Pump Station
Crashed Food Truck
Galx-E Trailer Communes
Antiquated Radio Observatory
Lost Research Facility
Shattered Shipwreck
Autonomous Waste Processing Plant
Defunct Broadcasting Station
CQB Training Center

I saw on reddit (barf) that they have stealthily added some new armors, and from the look of it they lifted it directly from someone's creation. I mean, the armor clips thru the gun ffs.
That's just typical Bethesda stuff.

I'll be waiting awhile as I need a ton of mods updated so that my ships can work.

I haven't played since initial launch. I stopped playing on day one due to the ridiculous number of loading screens. With any of these updates/DLC; have they removed or substantially decreased the number of load screens? If not, I'm not interested.

SFSE, BAKA Achievement Enabler and several other SFSE based mods have been updated to support new game version.

That will be a monumental pain to update everything.

Not when using Vortex. I updated every SFSE mod that had an update within a couple of minutes.

Right-click mod ==> Check for Updates ==> click Golden cloud ==> mod updates ==> click version ==> remove old version.
