Not this "fine wine" crap again.
Discussed in a thread the other day- basically, it's been found that after AMD has released a new architecture in the past, they've taken some time to get the drivers up to speed. This is corroborated by AMD's new architectures usually coming with a margin of underperformance relative to their specs, to the infuriation of The Faithful all around.
Several generations later, with significant driver overhauls, the older parts start to show improvement. Granted they've long since been obsoleted but it's a talking point.
Unfortunately, given how good AMD's drivers have been lately versus the majority of the time that AMD has owned ATi, and that RDNA doesn't look like a large departure from GCN versus GCN to its predecessor, 'fine wine' is unlikely to apply. It may- but that only means that AMD's release drivers have regressed in quality. Further, you're looking at a solidly middle-of-the-pack part here, unlike say the R9 290, so if the drivers do improve substantially, these 5700 (XT) cards will be solidly slotting into the old / loud / hot / power-hungry entry-level market against newer, more efficient parts from AMD themselves as well as Nvidia and likely Intel.
RDNA appears to be a large departure from GCN
What does that even mean?Internally, yes, externally the driver interface is still 'GCN'.

No they don't, which is why they are a flop. Vega is a flop, we know this, but RTX has been a failure. The question is why are you still selling them?all I am saying is that 1070s and 2070s and up seem to be able to push the most FPS at the lowest latencies and yet have the lowest decibels doing it with stock/founder's edition versions -- that's impressive as hell. There's no reason the AMD cards couldn't do the same
LIke NVidia's prices have been stellar.Sure if AMD prices it like you want.
But remember that Sapphire marketing guy who spilled the beans, he essentially outed these products exactly, and priced them at $500 and $400.
Though it may have been adjusted since then, or AMD may wait until closer to launch to see what NVidia is doing.
