Is Safari also Chromium based? If not then that's always a viable alternative. I see Apple making a big security push lately and the weight and size of the Apple ecosystem + users will ensure support for the time being.

Safari is based on an engine called Blink. It is either the same as Chromium with a different name or a fork of it (which is so similar that they are considered the same).
 
Chrome ... Google. It seems everywhere I go online these days I'm asked if I want to sign in using my Google account so no surprise regarding Chrome

Close--Chrome's engine (Blink) is a fork of Safari's (Webkit), which was originally a fork of a library from KDE.
