Rumor Suggests AMD Could Launch Navi at E3

Exactly, as I said: brand loyalty is stronger than facts.

Ignorance expressed as loyalty, sure. The problem isn't the products or the companies, it's the people. Many refuse to be educated and prefer their preconceptions, which is no surprise really, but it is frustrating when encountering the issue within one's own area of expertise.

Some people just won't look at the 'facts', and generally speaking, they're taking someone else's (less informed) word over yours. Or they're just stupid.

I am not claiming to be CEO smart or anything, but look at the obvious: where can AMD make mad money? It's not gonna be GPUs, as much as we love them. It's CPUs and they are focusing it down like a hawk. I like her strategy. Ryzen 3 is going to be a fucking blowout of epic (hah!) proportions. Maybe only a 12/24 part, I doubt 16/32, but it's gonna be FAST and have a great platform. I much rather see AMD do that, than to try to make a comeback in two very difficult markets.

I disagree, there is money to be made in the mid tier with 7nm Navi, high volume and even on thin margins.

AMD had the 7970 GHz ed, the 290x, both of which were faster than the Nvidia flagships.

Part of the problem is that this was the last time they had a high end GPU product. That was more than 5 years ago.

Right or wrong, people shopping for GPU's look at how the top end parts perform and judge the entire company lineup by those parts. The thought process is that if they could make good products they would be in the lead.

People judge AMD by their lack of a high end product for a very long time. If they can't produce a high end product, how can I trust that they don't just produce crap?

If AMD wants to take back market share in the GPU markets, they need to consistently have a product that is within 5% of Nvidias halo parts for several years in a row to regain trust.

You just need an educated consumer that has clue.

If AMD can replace their existing 570, 80, 90 cards with faster cards for the same money but more profit then that is obviously what they will do. We all would love to see a direct competitor to NVIDIA at the high end but it doesn't look like that will happen in the next couple of years so AMD needs to do what they can to be profitable.

The most I'll pay for a card is in the 400-$450 range so the high-end makes no difference to me.

Saw some video that perhaps AMD will cook-up a ray tracing chiplet using POWER VR hardware.. but there wasn't any rumors on them working together right?
