Twitter CEO Declares Bitcoin Will Become World's Single Currency Within 10 Years

Oh jack has done far worse - like censoring and shadowbanning accounts of people who have a different political opinion than him, while ignoring people reporting Twitter accounts of Isis members recruiting and pedophiles. I wish I could say I was joking.

Oh wow! I have never use Twitter, so I have not kept up with those shenanigans. It did answer a question bubbling away in my head. "This cannot be the only stupid thing he has done?". Now I can stop bubbling brain activity. It was tickling me.

Reminded me of someone saying something about the "paperless office"......

After working over 20 years in the imaging business, there is still a lot of paper.

However, the volume of paper finally seems to be dropping.
Most long reports now stay on the computer instead of getting printed to paper, I don't see many people printing on 4 part forms anymore. Now they print a laser invoice and a copy is automatically captured in the imaging system.
We have even started sending out many bills electronically instead paper bills.
As a small business, even simple processes like expense reports have been computerized.
In the 10 years I've been at my current job, we have probably cut the amount of paper generated (adjusted for business size) by at least 80%.

At home several years ago, I bought a 2 sided scanner instead of another file cabinet. Now I just scan any paperwork I think I should save and shred the originals.
99% of the time I'll never need to look at it again, but if I do, I have a copy.
A couple gigs of disk space take a lot less room than a couple file cabinets. :p

Many people still cant even use normal currency correctly, what luck does the world have with moving to bitcoin? Honestly, try explaining bitcoin to a 75-year-old

Bullshit argument. As if your mother understands fiat and the inner workings of a bank any better? You stubborn old farts

Not only that but the digital data will be there forever if you back it up right. Paper, unless its of archival quality, tends to fade. Things like receipts will fake within weeks/months due to the type of paper they are printed on.

Well this is a guarentee it will not be the sole currency. Twitter won't exist in 5 years the way this idiot is running it.

Well considering there is a limited supply, I fail to see how it will be the worlds currency unless everyone reaaaaaaaaaaaally loves decimal places.

I work in IT, that means multiple backups including off-site :D

Sure..................

Bitcoin is already experiencing scalability issues. No way it will be suitable as a universal currency.

Wait, if hypothetically Bitcoin becomes the de facto currency would that mean we get our video cards back? And all the other non asic cryptos will go away?

All hail Bitcoin!

I'd fire a CEO that made a statement like this publicly.

well .. you do have to consider its twitter, they dont have anything of real substance anyways

all they have is the hype factor.. so really he is perfect for the job as he is making everyone take notice of twitter

It's more of a streamlined convenience factor. Essentially it's the same as Facebook, only substantially focused. They have a one stop shop for making your voice readily available on the internet and there's not a lot more to it.

However, back to your point, it does sound like he's really just trying to jack up some PR for twitter to get their name clicking in the media. If he or the company start to make announcements regarding actual integration with crypto currencies, then I would start to sell off my stock.

Put it on a sandwich board and walk around main Street like all the other crazy people Jack

Bitcoin is 9 years old.
It will be a big deal in 10 years.

If you're hoping that Bitcoin will disappear, then you are delusional.

USD is not a world currency as you can't buy things with USD when you visit another country. You need to use exchanges.

Bitcoin even now has way bigger chance to become universal currency than dollar ever will be.
