3 or 4 cameras for Rift? recommend cables too pls?

Can I just enjoy games with 2 sensors?

Yes.
As pointed out, going too large can limit the experience but I am still on 2 sensors because its rare there is an issue and its only momentary.
Thats with 2m x3m.
With 2m x2m I used before and one sensor offset to the side by 1m it did everything very well.

I'm not saying you will have a perfect experience, the laws of physics prove there must be occluded places on the floor space.
But when they occur, I am moving quickly through and either dont notice or get a momentary blip.
You can then decide if you want to move to 3 cameras.

I bought a powered long USB 3.0 extension ready for a 3rd camera but havent bought the camera because I dont care about the issue enough.

edit quoted wrong post soz Ragenrok, fixed now.

haha I was trying to figure out where you quoted me :p

The issue I noticed was when turning around or putting your body between you and the touch controllers. Hands would drift off or snap to position once the sensors picked it up again.

Just got 3rd sensor set up last night and I can turn away from my screen and put my hands against my chest and it tracks it perfectly.

Even setting up the "Guardian" system I don't have to make sure the controller is in view of a camera, just walk around the perimeter naturally.

So if you are sitting down mostly, then 2 sensors is 100% fine.

For the extension cable, I got the Sabrent 32 foot USB 2.0 active extention (CB-USBXT). It was $15 at local Fry's.

32 feet was plenty of length to place the 3rd sensor on the wall behind the setup. I tested bandwidth with a USB3 flash drive and the cable pegged at 25MB/s (USB 2 limit).

It should be noted the Oculus Sensor ships (from NewEgg at least) with a Monoprice 16 foot active extension. Plus the 6 feet of USB cord on the sensor itself.

I added a 3rd Rift sensor to my setup and it's made a HUGE difference. The active extension that came with it worked perfectly too! I was surprised that it came with the active cable from newegg, it was only $60 too.

Just in case it isn't clear - the extra sensor always comes with the Monoprice 16' Active USB2 extension cable. It doesn't matter where you order it from.

Better to order extra 100 touch bundle or 60 sensor bundle?
I'm cheap so I just went with the sensor, but if you have the cash then at least you will have a spare set of touch controllers incase you destroy them lol

Good idea on the spare controllers.

Someone, who may or may not have been me, may or may not have slammed both controllers onto a hardwood floor last night because he tried to lean on a barrel in Superhot.

They're fine though, not even a scratch.

Superhot VR is awesome, a must play VR title in my book.

Thats why I went the extra controller route. They tend to hit stuff....

Heres a *cheap* suggestion for hiding wires. I use the Frog Tape over the cable and then paint over the tape. The Frog Tape holds the wires in place and has a excellent surface to paint on. Plus it's purposefully low tack, so you can remove it later and the cable is perfectly fine.

It's not total concealment, but it's pretty good, and as I said it doesn't do anything to the cable itself.

Ikea Sunnerista rail with metal hooks (bent the hooks in a vise so they can't come off the bar, and opened the hook for the HMD slightly since bigger strap.

Also, if you are setting up the Room Scale, don't get to heart set on mounting the cameras before you do the Rift Setup. The software becomes MUCH more picky once you go to 3 cameras. I had to move the rear camera twice and the front camera that were previously fine had to be tweaked slightly.

The concept of hanging your HMD lens up beside a window scares me man, sun can destroy the lenses. I'd get a nice holding bag for it or at the very lest try and hang it lens down somehow. Not to mention the dust collection happening ontop of your lens which will require more cleaning and risks scratches with every one :(

Agreed, but it's not the lenses themselves that would get destroyed - the Fresnel lenses in the HMD are great at focusing light in the opposite direction as well - right onto the surface of the OLED displays, which are much more susceptible to damage then regular LCD displays. If someone were to say open those blinds at the wrong time of the day, you'd risk frying your HMD's displays.
