The [H]ardForum Perpetual Freebies Thread

Dibs on the DDR3 2GB SO-DIMM please, let me see if I can use anything else (would love to have that old GF4 Ti or Radeon 9800 for a retro gaming rig, but I lack the time and the parts, ugh).

Does anyone have any worn out nikon camera batteries that are nikon genuine they want "recycled?" I plan to pull them apart and make extended packs. Sure the camera wont be able to correctly monitor capacity, but then the camera also wont complain about using fake batteries. (no, Ide prefer to not use a firmware hack) (batteries that various nikon DSLR bodies such as el14 and el14a)

So something worth a bit more... I'm giving away a 250GB WD Black mobile HDD. 7200RPM, SATA, 9.5mm. Perfect health as read by CDI. Free, you pay shipping, should be less than $5 in the US. Must have given at least one item in thread before.

Had some pretty generous people here, wanna return the favor.

PM if wanted :)

I wish she controlled the $ so I can get a raise. I'm currently several thousand under market value and she knows it. Unfortunately, there is "no money" per higher ups. We will see what they say when I move on shortly.

Anyone have 2 x 2GB of PC6400 SO-DIMM laptop memory? I will gladly pay shipping or trade one of my freebies if I have anything of interest. Thx.

I'd recommend one of these if you need to quick test a few IDE drives:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000I0VIYE

IDE to SATA adapters have never been that great for hard drive use and are known to cause massive data corruption or just not work at all.

Does anyone have a pair of 80mm fans they could give for cost of shipping? I have a no-name "600W" (yeah right!) Craigslist PSU which works great in a C2D rig except the fans. The fans are friggin awful, it sounds like a wind tunnel inside my PC. I can't tell if it's the fans or the 2 pin non PWM headers but they are some garbage.

I'd be willing to pay shipping for some quieter fans but not much more since this is like a $75 PC total.

Would anyone have 2-3 Antec drive bay covers for a 900 series case?

Also older mounting hardware for corsair aio coolers

Will pay mailing cost

Anyone have any spare USB keyboards?

YMMV but it's been my experience that boxes around that size/weight cost around $16 to ship, which means you could get a new one from Amazon for about that much.

Maybe you'll luck up and find someone really close who could get one to you cheaper, though. Good luck!

I have given away tons here and I have a powerbook G4 with a defective hard drive the 2.5mm ide type of drive hoping someone here may have one they have laying around. I really want to test this old system before spending a lot on it. I don't mind paying for a drive but prefer not going through ebay.

Also, thrift stores (salvation army, goodwill, etc) are likely to have a bunch that you can pick up for a song.

There's a reason that IED PSUs use high velocity fans which are noisy. It's because they're incredibly inefficient and are usually running parts beyond their design ratings, which creates an excessive amount of heat. Those high velocity fans are really the only thing that keeps them on the knife edge from detonating.

Assuming you're in the states, I have a crusty old Hitachi 4200 RPM 30 GB IDE laptop drive. It powers on and I can read/write data to it with my USB2IDE adapter, but I can't read the S.M.A.R.T. data so I can't make any promises about it functioning long term. It's yours for the cost of a USPS small flat rate box.

I was wondering if anyone would have a working AM3 low end CPU, like a Sempron or Athlon. I want to test a friend's motherboard which i am unsure if it works and the CPU is definitely dead.

This one on the bay is pretty cheap:

Sempron 145
http://www.ebay.com/itm/182491201137

Ironically the Sempron 130 which is the slowest AM3 CPU is more expensive than the 145, probably owing to its limited production run. Both have the potential to be unlocked to a dual core, but YMMV. I have a Sempron 130, but I'm not willing to part with it since it's used for testing boards on my bench.

Yeah, i just want it to test that mobo out (it's a Crosshair IV Formula), then it's up for sale as my buddy needs the money.

Anyone have a 1.8 in drive? I am working on a this client i found that is missing it's original drive. I have a 2.5in from my laptop but it is 1/4 in too long. I figure a 1.8 should do it.

"Microsoft Perceptive Pixel"
New in box
Microsoft Part Number : 100-0032-00
"Stylus Pen and Charger"
SKU: 6FV-00016 Rev C

Comes with the Stylus, dock and a USB cable
Just looking for shipping cost (prob $12 or so)

Anyone have a DSL modem compatible with AT&T/Frontier for the slowest speed tier (768K I believe not sure as it is for a friend)

long shot.. need a screw nut for the Thermalright heatsink mounting. I ordered a "free" (hardly had to pay shipping from China which cost the same as mounting kit in the states and took 3 weeks to get here) AM4 conversion kit and it was missing a screw nut and they wont send me another one without another $14 to get a full kit. Very lame and either way I dont want to wait 3 weeks again.

The screw nut is universal in their mounting kits for 115x and 2011 heatsinks. (I believe this design came on the TRUE series and arrows) Its used specifically for 115x mounts but not used on 2011 mounts. It looks like a knurled cylinder with a plastic spacer attached to one end and screw holes on both top and bottom of cylinder. If anyone has parts from an old heatsink they no longer use or have an heatsink that is mounted on a 2011 and dont plan on moving to a 115x and can spare 1 please let me know. All else fails I can buy another non-AM4 kit and just salvage the screw nut from it but just curious if anyone has one.

.....Consider this gone...

I have a Gigabyte P43-ES3G board that i just found in the back of my closet.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128447

This is an RMA board that I didn't use when I got it back so I have no way of knowing if its any good or not....I assume it is, but if its not I dont want to hear shit...pay your money and take your chances.

its a bare board, I have no idea where the backplate is...I probably threw it out years ago not knowing what it was for..

$12.00 can probably get it anywhere in the US, if its more, Ill eat it, if its less, I'll retire on the profit.

thx in advance

Aplg, I saw too late "Condier its gone"

Looking to make some room - stuff I have to offload:

8GB (2x4GB) PC3L-10600R (DDR3, ECC RDIMM) - pulls from HP Microservers. Both were working when pulled and not used past POST after unboxing.

Matched kits; 4GB (4x1GB) HP FB-DIMM DDR2 667/CL 5 and 2GB (2x1GB) Transcend FB-DIMM DDR2 667/CL5; 4GB was pulled from an ML350 Tower server, the 2GB was pulled from an older Mac Pro.

8GB (4x2GB) PC3-8500 (DDR3, ECC UDIMM) - Pulls from HP workstations - worked at POST.

Gateway LT2016U Atom Netbook - no hdd, no memory. Missing y key. Have the disk drive caddy. Unit was working fine, HDD failed and was not replaced by previous owner. Memory was repurposed into a T61 for the same owner. Battery seems to work, have the AC adapter.

E2220 LGA775 Processor - was my 775 tester, but I'm getting out of that part of the hobby.

What I'd be looking for if anyone has it to trade for the above:

a pair of 2x1GB DDR2 sodimm or 2x2GB DDR2 sodimm for a core 2 duo laptop

Decent working socket 1155 matx mainboard (with ivy bridge support) - Not sure if this is old enough to be considered a 'freebie'. For a fixer-upper project.

Go to ace hardware or true value. It's probably just a metric nut. You can probably get the plastic Spacer as well for fairly cheap.

I've got some at home - I think 2x2GB that I just replaced last month. PM me and I'll look when I get home tonight.
