An interesting decision, to say the least.

Uploaded two vids today but only one pertains to Warships, so here you go:

You've been heard, they are changing the entire role of the brit cruisers. No smoke, focusing on AP rather HE spam. Not sure if this means in test they were OP or completely under-powered.

calling bullshit because the smoke was the only thing that made those ships relevant, without it they just get instantly deleted. if they do in fact get rid of smoke then the RN cruiser line has zero purpose being in the game.

I think he went for a widespread against the lexington (in the Gearing) to avoid over saturated damage?

That wouldn't have happened in this instance and I don't know of anyone who thinks of damage saturation on the fly like that, lol. Torpedo damage saturation can affect any ship class but outside of DDs it's not common at all. Fire damage, on the other hand...

well, tried a few games tonite, played like a smelly ass today... well, the computer is working well, just not the operator

Well, playing the the tirpitz, I've hit other ships with all 4 torps, (narrow spread) at close range and only done between 20-25k in damage, so 6k Per torp, where I normally hit for 9-10k with single torps, so I'm assuming that multiple hits against the same over-saturated area suck :p

I have the evaporating team issue... getting top of my team. But there's none of them left like ten minutes in.

Did they nerf the Texas? I played two games two days ago, got one citadel with around 100 hits.

I know how you feel. I'm on like a week-long slide. With the exception of my Isokaze, which I almost always make top of the list or near top of the list with, I can't buy a damn win.

It's like everyone is playing, well to be honest, like I used to play. Diving in too deep without thinking it through. I've (mostly) broken myself of that habit but its like everyone else has picked it up!

I blame a lot of it on missions and crap like that will alter the way people think about playing the game.

went 5-3 on my Kaiser tonite.. by far my best night.. had a couple of games that were exceptional (for me)

Is it just me or are the people playing this game getting dumber by the day?

I had a game yesterday where I went into B on trap (we only had one DD) and capped it. Did 120k dmg and only took 497. Also shot down 19 planes. Ibuki actually has pretty good AA. Never did so much dmg while taking almost nothing.

Enjoy that thought because it'll never happen with the Ibuki again, lol. Nah, it's an alright ship but it's just too much of a sidegrade to the Mogami and ends up being too "samey" to me before you acquire the svelte ninja at Tier 10.

Invisifire range on the ibuki is only .1kM more than the zao isn't it ? Thanks for the video as well.

Had to get uncomfortably close to a Kurfurst in my Des Moines, I had 22,000 HP, I fired 5 salvos, and I Was dead without him shooting me once with his main guns, secondaries instantly set me on fire, twice, rep'ed and again and again I Was set on fire, and dead :p.

Though I Was doing between 3-7K in AP to his broadside.

Not going to lie, I'm totally in love with the Hipper/Eugen. For some reason that ship just clicks with me.

Ya haven't hit the Popcorn Guns yet :)

when do they start? I am loving how accurate the secondaries are, I cant wait for the tier 4 captain upgrade to get the 10k distance. I assume by popcorn gun you mean the secondaries turn into essentially auto cannons?

No, he means the main guns fire look throwing popcorn into the wind.

No. By popcorn guns I mean they are about as accurate as you throwing a handfull of popcorn from the balcony down onto someone at the first row in the theater.

The secondaries on the Bismark are mind blowing though. Sadly, the rudder is one of the worst in the game. I didn't think the mains were that bad at first, but I swear they have nerfed them recently because I've had TERRIBLE games in the Bismark for 2 weeks now :(

The TurdPutz always had shitty guns, but it has long range torps and handles pretty well. It's also damn tough.

Giving up guns for other stuff in the name of 'balance' isn't my cup of tea. Give me good guns and weak Armour. THAT I can deal with.

That sucks hah, I use to auto cannons being called popcorn guns. Like the sound popcorn in the microwave.

So german dispersion gets bad eh? Then its okay my aim is bad haha

The German BB guns starting at tier 6 have relatively poor dispersion at range. The aim is to get them into brawling distance.

LOL, I cant wait till I get to them ships.. probably about 3 yrs.. if they stay status quo, my horrible aim along with the dispersion (as well as the alpha, I think), I might land 1 shot in 100.

if I understand correctly, dispersion is primarily horizontal spread, and alpha (if thats the right term) is vertical spread..

I have had full TurdPutz salvo's hit forward, aft, port and stbd of the target ship without landing a single one ON the ship.

Take a toothbrush and remove all but the outer layer of bristles. That's what your dealing with :)

I swear, the best thing a Tirpitz target can do for you is turn to evade LOL

I am not a fan of the T7 German BB because of the dispersion. I do good in it, it just pisses me off sometimes. Might not help I am grinding the Ibuki at the same time... where I can land all my shells where I want to.

I am 30k from the Bismark. I love secondaries... So I'll give that a try before I abandon the line. The extra turret might help too.

Oh, you'll love what you do to DD's with the Sonar and Secondaries :)

My favorite thing to do is when they pop smoke is to drive right in to it, light off the Sonar, and then watch them get vaporized !

judging only from being on the receiving end, but bismark full secondary build with the captain skill is OP as fuck. More area denial than a division of shim's.

I agree.. 'cause either I got a shiat tonne better yesterday, or the rest of the gaming world went into the crapper.

well, it musta been an influx of rotten spuds... I have returned to my normal shiatty self.. all while I am trying to get the ARP Ashikara (I think, the t7 cruiser)... I definately need to brush up on my Fuso play (my only t6)

3x is fucking cancer

SS taken seconds after a kagaro HE salvo detonated my Iowa....

I'm liking the Bismarck , though I'm not going to lie, I really like the Gneisenau, enough to keep it, I like it far more than the CO or Nagato.

5.12 Test Change list:

Improved Economics
We're testing more equitable calculation of XP and Credits earned in battle by taking the following factors into account:
  • Enemy ships and squadrons spotted
  • Damage caused by allies to enemies spotted by you
  • Potential damage dealt/received
The overarching logic behind granting Credits and XP per battle was reworked to include the above changes. If a player carries out "useful" actions (causing damage, fighting for control of key areas, supporting allies), their average rewards don't change, as opposed to how it worked in Update 0.5.11. However, players who focus on "one-dimensional" behavior -- like battleship players who stay away from the heat of battle and only try to cause damage from afar, or destroyers who focus only on capturing key areas without recon -- won't be as generously rewarded.

The above changes come based on data received since updates 0.5.9 and 0.5.10, and should have a positive impact on the in-game economy; rewards for players who regularly support their team more become more equitable.

Battle Inactivity
In previous versions of the game, players who left battle before their ships were destroyed received a penalty of no reward after the battle ended. This same penalty will now apply to players who stay inactive after joining and starting a battle.
The following factors constitute inactive (passive) behavior:

  • The ship never moved and did not cause any damage
  • The player did not cause any damage and never launched any air squadrons (for aircraft carriers)
Maps
The new map "Shatter" is exclusively for tiers VII-IX. Fight among the islands between Iceland and Scandinavia. This grim location is dotted with fishing settlements and marine bases to support polar convoys.

Check it out and share your feedback!

Also on the maps front, we've made the map borders look a little smoother.

Game Balance Changes
  • The armor thickness of standard tier VIII-X battleships was decreased. This allows players to penetrate these ships in their bows when using large-caliber AP shells. Their previous armor thickness values allowed players to turn their bows towards the enemy, especially in high tier battles, and minimize or even fully negate any damage by AP shells. This resulted in players deviating from the intended role of the ship class.
  • Decreased firing ranges of Soviet Destroyers Udaloi and Khabarovsk, and increased their loading time.

  • Regular tier VIII-X cruisers can now set "Steering Gears Modification 3" in their sixth slot (-40% to rudder shift time and -80% to the steering gear's repair time).
This change intends to increase the survivability of high-tier cruisers as well as motivate players to act more aggressively in battle if the situation warrants it.

Interface Changes
  • Added the option to adjust the water transparency of the minimap.
  • Added five new reticles created by our players.

Nope! Your Public Test account has:

  • Account level 12 on first login, including all the rewards you'd earn along the way
  • Reduced XP research requirements for ships tier VI+, and module prices drastically reduced for all ships
  • Account Level 12 on first login
  • Seven days of Premium time
  • 30,000 Doubloons to spend on Commander Skills, Premium consumables, or anything else you'd like
  • 500,000,000 Credits
  • 5 Signal Flags of each type
  • Discounted ability to re-spec Commanders: 1 Doubloon = 1 Skill point.

The whole Economics section confuses me, so I'll pass on comment.

They are fucking up Battleships again.

They are fucking up the one redeming factor of the Tier 9 and 10 Soviet Destroyers. I'll probably be shopping my Khab to Carmax.

Frankly, I only see two POSITIVE things in this update:

Battle Inactivity
In previous versions of the game, players who left battle before their ships were destroyed received a penalty of no reward after the battle ended. This same penalty will now apply to players who stay inactive after joining and starting a battle.
The following factors constitute inactive (passive) behavior:

and

  • Regular tier VIII-X cruisers can now set "Steering Gears Modification 3" in their sixth slot (-40% to rudder shift time and -80% to the steering gear's repair time).

The rest of this is one big ass Nerf and I'm getting fucking tired of stuff I already paid for being messed with.

Oh, and STILL no real financial reward for taking out aircraft. This has been a big hole in the economics system since day 1.
