Everyone's favorite anti-video game politician has been sentenced to five years in prison today. In addition to time in the big house, Leland Yee will also have to forfeit almost $33k from his campaign account and pay a $20,000 fine.

Yee admitted in a plea deal that he was part of a racketeering conspiracy that involved exchanging official acts for money, conspiring to traffic in weapons and money laundering. Specifically, Lee promised an undercover FBI agent favors in return for campaign contributions. During the hourlong proceedings, Yee asked the court for leniency in light of his public humiliation, his wife’s severe illness, his admissions of wrongdoing and his past record of public service.

Wow weapons. So maybe that was why he was so against video games. It hit a little close to home for him.

He sponsored a BUNCH of anti gun laws in CA too. "In 2006, Yee was named to the Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll by the Brady Campaign for his efforts" Hilarious! But not surprising. They want to take away YOUR rights, but that doesn't apply to them.. they are above the law..

I thought this was about Jack Thompson when I read the title (though I guess he was a lawyer, not a senator)...never heard of Leland Yee, but...fuck him, I guess.

I hate to say this, but 5 years and he has to give back 33k of his campaign donations? Wow... way to stick it to the man.

IMO, politicians and other people who are in "positions of power" need to have the hammer dropped down on them in a much more harsher way simply due to the position they hold. In the same way that a teacher gets a much harsher punishment for any shenanigans with students due to his position of power, this is a god damn senator, there's not many "public employees" with more power than his. At a minimum 100% of his campaign account needs to be refunded, and in addition to the jail time he needs to be barred from ever holding a public office again.

This goes twice for police officers, if there are "special circumstances" for people attacking/killing police officers there needs to be special circumstances for when police officers go bad too.

I don't know how it is US side, but up here the difference between business as usual for the party and committing a felony is an academic hair's breadth. There is a serious problem when it takes years to decide if "a line was crossed".

Plus our senate might be the most useless political body on earth.

The video game stuff isn't that big. At the time time he authored a few anti gun laws he was dealing with terrorists and illegal weapons. As well as working with organized crime in San Francisco. Getting a mere 5 years is a joke considering his crimes.

This guy's no different than any other politician, where he went wrong was in the details. You don't outright say you'll do X if they do Y (contribute, etc.). You hint at it.

Big difference between saying:
"If you donate to my campaign, I'll be sure and back your proposal to rebuild city hall."

And:

"I appreciate all contributions, and I'll be sure to take a fair look at your proposal."

Amateur.

The harder guns are to acquire the more they will sell for on the black market so all those anti-gun laws will benefit people like Yee.

I'm pretty sure that Thompson was Disbarred years ago now. Thankfully. That didn't stop him much from being vocal for a time...haven't seen his name in the news in some time now though.

I hope someone shanks Leland Yee since he isn't worth a bullet. He was really trash but what was funny was something like 40% of the Asian community in San Francisco thought he was being railroaded.

Wow, the guy was helping traffic weapons and racketeering... and gets 5 years and a five-figure fine? Meanwhile in some states Marijuana possession nets you 15 and 300k.

Yep. He was also one of California's most anti-gun legislators arguing for a complete ban on firearms. How's that for ironic?

Fuck him.

It's the same sort of logic that applies to the school teachers/priests/politicians who were so outspoken and vocal against gay rights, or gay sex, or abortions, or whatever. They think that the more vocal they are about it, the more believable it is and that nobody will ever figure out they love it in the butt.

Honestly anytime I see someone on a rant about anti-gay this or that, my first thought is: "they must have some really fucked up secret gay sex thing going on behind closed doors"

Another lying corrupt crooked politician - who'd have thought? It won't change till society gets together and cracks down on this sort of thing.

Wow, they actually caught a politician doing what all politicians do? He must have refused one of their requests.

This guy got essentially a free pass. He wasn't just corrupt, he was a business partner of a guy named Raymond "Shrimpboy" Chow; the head of the Chinese Tong syndicates on the West coast. He got hit with a relatively minor set of bullshit charges when in reality he was involved in racketeering including helping to obtain fraudulent visas and abusing his power to get small business loans and such for his buddies.

He should get 20 years, do every single day of that 20 years (no parole or early release) , $500,000 fine

AND.....

be stripped of any and all state or federal benefits including health care, pensions and or retirement money provided to him or his family.

Yee is a first class piece of trash. Gun grabbing, video game grabbing, free speech hating asshole.

Have fun in the bootie bin sissy.

Someone should make a video game based on this...just to spite the d-bag....."you play the role of a d-bag anti-video game senator that has just been sent to prison for 5 years...can you survive the horrors of prison?!? - probably not" It could be like Dead Souls on ultra hard...where no matter what you do...you get nailed...one way or the other...LoL.

Hope he enjoys his stay in the FAPP program (Federal Ass Pound Prison) he should already be used to whoring himself out for money/services/goods :p

5 years is hilariously short. he will be out in 2.

That's fine, as a disgraced politician convicted felon. He will be lucky to flip burgers to buy his next bump.

Or he will become the next in a series of SJWs in highlighting inmates rights for his ex lovers in prison... cause that little boy is gonna have it ROUGH in prison.

isn't he rich as fuck? what about all the money selling arms? 20k fine is hilarious.

selling arms to terrorists making made stacks, get caught, spend a couple conformable years in prison(because he has money to bribe the guards for good treatment) get out, and life a rich as fuck life, possibly going back to selling arms because he is above the law.

this notion that everyone gets super raped in prison is a myth. this guy is going to a white collar min security prison.

No he is not "rich as fuck", he came from humble origins, and anything he made from arms trafficking has been seized, assets or cash. Read:

He was 70k in debt trying to get out of it, so no he was never "rich as fuck". He was Raymond Chows gun running bitch. He turned states evidence to get a reduced sentence from 20 years and 250k, which means prison will be a fun time for him as a snitch.

assuming he declared all his assets and illegal gains right? were trusting him?

lets assume he is not a pathological lier for a sec, is this an excuse not to put him away for 15-25 years?

Na man, none of it was personal for this slime ball. He would push anyone's agenda as long as they gave him his "contributions".

Dude, it's just supply and demand. He was just choking off supply to increase the demand for HIS guns. Monopoly 101 dude.

He rolled on Raymond Chow. That's enough for anyone to get a lighter sentence. Chow is public enemy #1. Yee is a scumbag at best.

Plus, you think the FBI doesn't know he is a liar? Their whole reason for being is to assume everyone they talk to is lying. Whatever Yee that was within their jurisdiction (domestic) you can bet they found.

I think the FBI and most gov organizations believe whatever they want to believe and make the facts fit the narrative they try to sell. Especially in high profile cases like this.

Leland, say hello to ex-Governor of Illinois Blagojevich in prison. Ye are cut from the same cloth. Get it, Yee?

Ok well facts vs. conspiracy theories. We don't have all the info. The trial most likely drained whatever assets had not been seized frozen. That IS a gov tactic, to drain you of your resources until you go broke or plea out.
