New Samsung 4k for everyone.

UN48JS9000 just dropped in price again.

$1,599.99

Price includes $2,400 instant savings +
My Passport Cinema 4K UHD Movie Storage Device
- limited time ONLY!!

Good deal. Gotta wonder if it's gonna get sweeter or if jumping in now would be a good time. The 2016 models are right around the corner probably. Gah.

There's always something better right around the corner. At some point a good deal is worth getting out of the waiting game for, at least for a short while. :)

Great deal! Best led out there imho for gaming. The quantum dot def makes a difference picture wise and it has one of the lowest lags for gaming for a tv.

But if you wait til the newer ones are out, these will be even cheaper. Pascal might be out by then too, sweetening the 4k gaming capabilities. :D

The good Pascal with HBM will be out Q2/Q3... Q1 may be will come this with GDDR5X aka GP104 aka GTX1080 not Ti.

It's better of course, but it's noting superior different or etcs. May be little more saturated/vivid.

Seeing them in person there is a difference, I had the ju7500 and have the js9000. I personally feel the js9000 is overall a better panel then the other series panels. Either way they are all great and worth a look :)

The biggest difference is in red color. The 9000 has a much richer and brighter red color.

Additionally the 9000 has a much better gamma. I had to set the gamma on JU7500 to +3 to come close to matching the 9000 and its still not enough (the low mid range is still a little too dark). You can tell in the dark movie scenes watching them side by side with JS9000.

I also like the color settings of 9000 out of the box a lot more then 7500. I had to tweak the 7500 much more to get it to reproduce acceptable colors and whites

With proper calibration/settings the difference is not that huge. Now with the price drop ($1600 vs $1400) for 48 inch the 9000 is worth it but it was not worth $2300.

What is your settings for game mode for gamma? You went for 2.2?

A question about playing on a PS4 on the JU6500 55 inch model.

I've heard HDMI 1.4 won't let me game at 60 frames since the 1080p res is upscaled automatically. Is this true? Or can I play my PS4 games at 60 frames when they normally would be?

(Some games are locked at 30, others aren't)

HDMI 1.4 wont let you game at 60hz with a native 4k image from a pc, it will be 30hz.

With your PS4, the Samsung will scale the 1080p image to the panels 4k resolution at 60hz so any game running 60fps will run at 60hz on the tv and Samsung's up-scaling is fantastic.

Ah thank you so much, that cleared the last obstacle about this TV that I had.

Thanks!

Thinking of buying the 65JS9000 for PS4 and PC gaming. If I wall mount I could sit about 10 or 11 feet away and could go with the 65". Or I could table mount at 8' and go with the 55". Thoughts? Something tells me that the curve in gaming will be more enveloping if I go with the larger size.

I have a JS9500 65" (only comes 65/78/88) on a mobile presentation cart at the perfect height with my desk in front. Screen is maybe 6? feet in front of me, I moved it so I'm sitting exactly in the sweet spot for PC use. No regrets on the size, the curve is definitely a benefit for single user.

In game mode for consoles, the lag on this tv is obviously excellent at 21 ms. But does it concern you guys that in order to use a PC and display 4K 60 4:4:4 color you must use PC mode which introduces large amounts of lag (I think I read 55 ms). I wonder if a future one connect box will lower the PC mode lag #s or should I perhaps wait for the 2016 model to be released in March? If I ended up using game mode for the PC for 4K and dropped to 4:2:2 color would the colors/visuals take a major hit?

No console here (#pcmr) haven't had problems in online games yet. I run 4:4:4 all the time (980ti) since the 4:2:2 is jarringly obvious to me with text fields. I've yet to see anyone note they tested the 4k lag correctly (bodnar can't do it, dualscreen test with crt not possible, etc) and I think they are being over-reported. Some people feel the firmware updates improved things, who knows. I will buy a new box if it updates the inputs to anything with more bandwidth, the 9k series are the only 2015 models that come with the completely standalone version. I have this wild theory that the samsung link is really just a custom embedded displayport signaling + power connector, would be nice if true.

I plan on keeping this tv for a long time, (7+ years). As such, I need to know if I should save some $ with the November Black Friday sales and buy the 2015 model 9000 or wait for the 2016 model?

I'd save $, the 2016 are months away from actually being buyable and you will probably pay nearly double at first until they get the first couple waves of cuts after even more months. I slightly regret jumping on mine right away in april but it was so damn nice I couldn't resist.

I read on the 2015 Sony TV Displays thread and some stated the Samsung JS9000 suffered from PWM (pulse-width modulation) motion blurring artifacts. Anyone notice this blurring while gaming?

I see no PWM on the JS models but I don't have magic eyes either, supposedly they have a better output curve than the JU models. TBH I think some people are finding exactly what they want to look for if you know what I mean.

Thank you! Excellent feed back.

I can arrange my set up any way I want, with the only limitation being that the max distance to the tv (if wall mounted is 11'). I am coming from a 46" Sony xbr5 1080p tv. I just hope I will not feel overwhelmed. I am sure after a week or so I will adjust to it. There are no great 60" options, (though Best Buy now has an exclusive on a 60" JS8000). I bet a 55" at 8 feet will surely cause me buyer's remorse

As such, I am debating between the 65" JS9000 and the JU7500. Could you please elaborate what you mean by "better output curve" on the JS? Does this mean the JS9000 has better/smoother motion than the JU series? The 7500 is a bit faster in PC mode, but I do like the ability to upgrade the entire one connect box on the 9000, which includes the processor. Hope the fan in the box is not too loud as I have heard varying reports.

If anyone has compared or upgraded from the JU7500 to the JS9000/9500 series, please comment on preference relative to gaming application.

Thanks.

JU7500 use one connect box too and its silent because its cooled passively.

Just bought the JU7500 and I'm having a weird issue. In game mode I am getting micro stutter but if I switch to pc mode it goes away. Anyone else experience this and find a fix? Its not my pc as on my old tv there was no issue and in pc mode it goes away. even stranger sometimes if I switch between windowed mode and fullscreen a few times it goes away. I love the tv but this is driving me nuts!

U sure about that? I have the 9000 and I know it has some small fans blowing to cool the cpu

Pretty sure. I had the 6700, 7500, and now the 9000 and the One Connect that came with the 7500 was smaller and completely silent AFAIR. I think that it is indeed passively cooled. The one with the 9000 can get fairly warm even with the fan(s?), so I can see how it could create some noise (I can't hear mine but others have noted fan noise).

You have had both. How much different 6700 vs 7500 had using as PC screen?

Initially, I did not think that they were very different. But there were definitely some things that differentiated the two:

Semi gloss vs. full gloss
Slightly less motion blur on the 7500 (some people found it to be a big difference)
Less intrusive PWM on the 7500 (I wasn't bothered by the 6700 though as apparently I am not sensitive to PWM)
Lower input lag on the 7500 (both felt fine to me, but I was running them with pretty early firmwares as this was months ago)
More/better AMP settings on the 7500 for smooth motion

If you saw them both in stores, they would appear to be identical since static image quality is the same (neither "pop" like the JS sets do) and it's not likely to be a big deal when using them for desktop productivity. But for gamers, the 7500 does hold some advantages over the 6700 and is the better unit if one can justify the price difference. If not, it's not like the 6700 is shabby...they're all very good; there are just evolutionary steps between them.

Sadly seems like in EU there isn't 40'' JU7500 model and in my country smallest JU7500 is 55''.
Somebody have any clue how much motion blur might have old 2006-2007 TN 60hz VGA monitor with response time 8ms? Still less than JU6700?

The One Connect MINI only includes one Silicon Image SIL9777 HDMI processor. The main processor, memory and other major chips are inside the TV itself.

I posted this for the people that are interesed.

The exact same in CANADA. They only carry 55" and up. Kind of a bummer since 40" is a perfect size and cheaper as a PC display.

i restarted my computer today for the first time in a week or so and noticed that it displayed the post screen. anyone else notice this or can confirm that the latest firmware fixed it? ju6500 on ver 1422.

Anyone know how to remove the ads when using the TV? I had a stupid toyota camry add pop up on the left side while i was playing arkham knight... Also had some TV feature add pop up about using the extra button...

LOL, I've never had that happen. Maybe that was one of the "improvements" in the latest firmware. ;)

I spoke to Leo Bodnar maker and they are making a 4k tester right now and will be available early next year. I plan to get it and test these Samsung tv's in 4k. My guess is in PC mode it is 50ms around and game mode I think it could now be the same as 1080p game mode ( 22ms). I will make sure to post in here my findings once I get the tester.

On another note, how do you like the js9500 for gaming? Does it have any vertical banding? I have a 48js9000 which is very good and had a 55js9000 which was good too in regards to uniformity. Neither comes close to my Oled ec9300 but the lag is def lower on the Samsung's. I actually put the js9000 next to the oled last night running games on both and I was shocked at how much better the oled was.... both for contrast, depth of picture and motion. Too bad the lag isn't that great. I have a LG service remote in the mail that I am going to go into the LG oled service menu and turn somethings off to see if I can reduce the input lag more and retest with the leo bodnar. Should be interesting.

Do you mind throwing up some pics of a side by side comparison? I have a 48" JS9000 and I think the picture quality is incredible. If you say that your oled blows it away, I would love to see the pics. Thanks!
