Acer Predator XR341CK 34" 144Hz Curved Gaming Screen with G-sync

That video was terrible

Well we worked out who gave us the thumbs down lol. What didn't you like about the video. We are trying to better ourselves so any criticism is more than welcome. Its the only way we learn. Thanks

Heres a video made from the outtakes. ;-)

Anyways seriously where is this 34" G-Sync Predator? I feel like when it does arrive we will have some way better monitor almost about to launch and this will be less attractive. ACER were the first to announce these ultrawide freesync and gsync monitors yet they are one of the last to come to the party almost.

The last to the party? There isn't a single 21:9 gsync monitor out there and Acer has the only 34x14 freesync. If anything they are the first ones to arrive.

Yeah no one else has these. And the FreeSync version has been out for a few weeks now.

It's ASUS that has been lagging behind, they still haven't gotten the PG279Q out and their Ultrawide equivalent isn't coming till Q1 2016 now.

If a game doesn't support 3440x1440 will this screen still do 2560x1440 at 75 Hz with freesync?

I haven't encountered a game that doesn't support 3440x1440 but then again, I only play a select few. If it doesn't support it in fullscreen, fullscreen windowed mode works fine w/ freesync as far as i can tell.

I believe StarCraft 2 and Heroes of the Storm only support 4:3, 16:10, and 16:9 ratios so those are the games I'm worried about. Torn between this monitor and a large 4k screen.

I only had a couple of games that refused to work at 3440x1440, but they weren't major blockbusters. I just played them at 2560x1440 with black bars on the sides.

Dan, I'd wait for reviews before deciding. I'm partial to large 4K but this monitor could be great if you desire speed over immersion and desktop real estate. Just need to make sure it lives up to the hype; I'm somewhat unimpressed with the FreeSync version.

Torn between this and the upcoming Asus g-sync 4K model (not 21:9). Will be watching both.

With only (only!?!) one Titan X, I think this one might allow me to keep my framerates higher.

EUR pricing is generally always inflated relative to the US, you can't convert backwards to arrive at the USD RRP.

Holy shit. $1800 (USD) ? Lets hope it is not true.

For comparison the U3415W is 660 GBP vs. 800 USD.

Using that same estimated conversion rate would put it at a bit less than $1400.

That would put it pretty close to the estimated $1199 - $1299 price of this monitor. The interesting thing about the listing is estimated in stock date of September 17.

Pardon me for injecting this but I don't see a thread for it and I don't know how it relates to this:

What's the story on this Acer Predator z35 that I've seen stray mentions of?

Sorry if this already got answered, but just saw some 4 day old news.
It is VA, 144hz (boasting 200 hz overclockability - voids warranty), 2560 x1080, gsync, 1100 euros.
And probably my new monitor, once I wipe the drool off it.
No IPS glow, and though pixely, at least I can drive at higher frames than the 3440.

Speaking of which, here are some benchmarks for 3440 on the top nvidia cards.

I'm betting $1199 USD.

From what I understand, gsync fixes a lot of that ghosting that freesync suffers from. All that windmill AMD stuff we saw...
Oops, I was replying to someone back there. :p

God damn lucky bastards, the things are made in Taiwan/China but yet there is no availability in South East Asia. Like wtf!?

I think it was the same problem with the Acer XB270HU. Guy had to import one back to Asia.

Not a good start....

Someone already got their hands on one? I assume in Europe?

The above panel should never had made it through quality control.

The above image is way over-exposed. His desk looks like the sun in a dark room.

Yes its over exposed, but the obvious yellow tinge is not normal.

XB270HU has a similar yellow tinge ... but in the other corner. When taken with similar camera settings. If you move around, the tint should change. That's LCD tech for yah.

so the same QC issues as all other 3440x1440 21:9 monitors. I remember seeing units with an orange/yellow tint like that when the LG first came out. All of them have it to some degree that I've seen, depending on the angle it can be a lot more noticeable than it really is. But it's usually not covering a whole half of the screen like that, only a little bit in the corner, so I'd say that unit seems to be defective too... without seeing it in person I can't say for sure though.

Well thats not very confidence inspiring, considering they're advertising it as a 100HZ panel.

Can someone verify that G-Sync is actually working at 100HZ (if it does require an overclock to get that high)

I requested in the thread on overclock.net that one of the users verify that it isn't frame skipping at 100hz. Without that confirmation, the fact that it can "do 100hz" is useless anyways.

Are they really advertising that though? From their page:

"Overclock
Boost your refresh rate up to 100Hz with built-in overclocking. Minimize motion blur and enjoy more frames per second."
http://www.acer.com/predator/en_US/predator_x34.html

I think people are projecting what they wanted it to be and rumors as actual fact. I don't think I have ever seen Acer actually advertising the monitor as a guaranteed 100Hz.

No, but they did say it ran at 75hz default. But that may not even be the case now.

If 100 is not guaranteed, too bad they didn't offer intermediate steps (80, 85, 90, 95). Because even 90 would be nice.

I was happy with 75hz. But it's starting to sound like it's a 60hz monitor, and you "could" get 75hz - 100hz with an overclock, but no guarantees. If that's the case, I'll definitely be passing. About to say screw it and get the Dell.
