AMD Fury series coming soon.

Nvidia dont make such cards they are all power efficient.

What does that even have to do with my post? I'm talking about the effect of temperature on power consumption and how it's effected power limits on my cards.

You've never changed lol

Conclusion:

the R9 Fury X is just about a match for the GTX980Ti.

Underwhelming so far :/

OC3D thinks the Fiji chip was initially aimed at the 980, then the full maxwell came out

I like how they are purposefully trying to deceive with their 4k results...
Edit- Or they don't know how to review their work.

Actually, reviewing the results more closely, it does look like 980 ti beats it out for the most part. Disappointing...

AMD needs to be droppin that price pronto, maybe $550 and I'd consider it...nvm

i'd have to buy a new monitor lol, i'll probably get a 980ti when prices drop a bit when pascal comes out

Roughly equal performance to 980 Ti, quieter, cooler, smaller and with fresh drivers that will most likely yield higher performance as time goes on and you're underwhelmed.

Color me surprised.

yeah AMD only has one chance to show their best, being late isn't in their favor right now.

Even if it matches the 980 TI, the problem AMD is going to face is the features/support NVidia offers. How long since the last WHQL driver from AMD? Any new features with Fury X (No new AA modes, etc..)? There's also the whole Gameworks thing too. Yes gameworks tends to bog down frame rate, but atleast with an NVidia card it will run faster.

Also it appears the Fury X can't overclock well at all. 980 Ti and Titan X are both overclocking monsters (30% gain easily)

I guess you forgot to look at the 20% lead an O/C 980 Ti had over the FuryX. Talk about future headroom :p

smh

it lost in almost every test to the 980ti, for the same price, and lacks HDMI 2.0 which is clearly important to a lot of people here (myself included)

and can't even be overclocked properly due to being voltage locked

it's quieter doe, how much quieter really? haven't heard people bitching about 980ti's being loud or annoying

yet it's a win in your eyes because the drivers "will most likely yield higher performance"

lol

Got spanked in GTA 5

and Witcher 3:

Guru3D also showing Fury X losing to 980 ti in most games, sometimes by a large margin.

On the bright side, it does better at 4k.

I admit that so far it either equals 980 Ti or is slightly slower. But IIRC, weren't Titan X cards voltage locked at first? And you do have to admit that Hawaii has fared much better than Kepler. I guess we'll have to see. And HDMI 2.0 doesn't mean anything to me as I game on monitors, not televisions.

Again all the reviews are stating "need driver improvements". SMH AMD. Excellent hardware always being held back by the damned drivers.

Slower than 980ti in 1440p - and that's the resolution I want new single card for. More expensive in EU than ti... Sorry AMD, was really hoping to switch camps, but won't pay more for less delivering gpu

Hadn't it been for a surprise 980 Ti release. Fury X would have seemed like a winner. But both being at the same price point, it's hard to say really :/

loses to the 980ti stock for stock in almost every test lol

Damn it got wrecked by the 980 ti and titan x in a lot of the tests. Doesn't look good at all so far. I predict a lot of excuses like "wait until the drivers mature someday!" Lol! There's going to be a lot of damage control in the next few days by the red faithful. Poor AMD will have to slash the price by another $100 to make this thing appealing.

slightly lower = more than 10% usually

There is one slight concern, there is more noise coming from the graphics card than there is from the fan. There is some coil noise audible but it is mostly dulled by the cards cover/casing. Not irritating at all, but an audiophile might get annoyed by it. Our overall dBA readins are OK, in line with a normal PC making normal noises. But I cannot quantify the Fury X as a silent solution, that's the honest truth. But it certainly isn't loud either, normal is the one word for it. BTW once you crank up the fan RPM (fairly noiseless) you can even chill down the GPU towards 40 Degrees C. please do make sure you have proper ventilation inside your chassis as liquid cooling relies on an ambient temperature.

not quite silent.

Another lukewarm review with 980 ti winning in most benches.

If you say so. From the conclusion

Assuming AMD can fix the problems we've identified with a driver update, and assuming it really has ironed out the issue with the whiny water pumps, there's much to like about the Fury X. The GPU has the potential to enable truly smooth gaming in 4K. AMD has managed to keep power consumption in check. The card's cooling and physical design are excellent; they've raised the standard for products of this class. Now that I've used the Fury X, I would have a hard time forking over nearly 700 bucks for a card with a standard air cooler. At this price, decent liquid cooling at least ought to be an option.

Thats not what I got from the [h] review.

Here's what [H] concluded:

The new AMD Fiji GPU and Fury X video card looks awesome on paper, but has underwhelmed and disappointed us when it comes to real world gameplay. The AMD Radeon R9 Fury X feels like a proof of concept for HBM technology.

However, this is not the case this time with the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X and GeForce GTX 980 Ti. There is a definite pattern that leads to one video card being the best value for the money, and it is GeForce GTX 980 Ti, not the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X.

Realize this is still speculation but if I had guess AMD likely can benefit relatively more from Win10/DX12. The reason is, if you go by a lot of data availalbe, that AMDs rendering pipeline (whether due to software or hardware differences) does have certain drawbacks compared to Nvidia. You can see some of this in terms of how AMDs products scale up in resolutions (more raw GPU performance determinant).

Now this doesn't AMD might start shooting massively past Nvidia's or anything.

I still go back to what I mentioned earlier. The problem with Fury will not be whether or not it outperforms 980ti, the issue is that it needs to signficantly outperform as I think the market will decide Nvidia's 980ti offers a more compelling package overall if you remove performance and performance/price metrics.

Honestly if you are an AMD product fan (not a fanboy, then you'd just buy anything) I still feel AMDs new lineup prices are somewhat optimistic. Don't be surprised if street prices correct (relatively shortly) to be more favorable. Or that AMD's held back products still to come are better offerings.
