Can anyone confirm that you can use a passive DP to HDMI cable to output 4k 60p 4:4:4 from DP port on an HDMI 2.0 capable GPU to a HDMI 2.0 port on a 4k TV?

Edit: You can't use an existing "passive" DP to HDMI cable, it won't work. An "active" DP to HDMI 2.0 adapter is scheduled to be released around April 2015 which lets you do this. See my post below for more details.

Edit 2: You can use a passive DVI to HDMI adapter to get 4k 60p 4:4:4 from a DVI port as confirmed below.

You would need the following three things test this.
- GTX 960/970/980
- 4k 60p 4:4:4 TV
- Displayport to HDMI adapter

Yes I know there is an HDMI 2.0 port on the 900 series GPU's. What I am wondering is if it's possible to drive 2 or more HDMI 2.0 4k TVs which can only be done by utilizing the DP ports in addition to the HDMI 2.0 port.

I want to know this as well.

And I can tell you, no one knows for sure. I've not ever seen a direct resounding no from anyone.

Sure it's theoretically possible.

At a minimum, I'd say the cable itself would need to "supports HDMI 2.0" (yes I know HDMI 1.4 is 2.0 compliant)

A quick search suggests that such adapters are pretty new/rare. The only ones I can find are those in the following link that specifically say 'HDMI 2.0': http://visionaudiovisual.com/techconnect/cables/dp/

They don't sell from their own site, and if I were you I'd shoot them an email to confirm 4:4:4 chroma support before buying (please let us know their response).

If no such adapter exists, you'd have to use something like this and just accept 30Hz: http://store.apple.com/us/product/HFQL2VC/A/moshi-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adapter-4k

Edit: Further Googling suggests that a passive cable/adapter would most certainly NOT work...hmm

I think GTX970 can output 4k 60 Hz 4:4:4 via DVI to HDMI :D

So
(Monitor 1) HDMI => 4k 60 Hz 4:4:4 (RGB)
(Monitor 2) DVI-D to HDMI => 4k 60 Hz 4:4:4 (RGB)
(Monitor 3) DVI-I to HDMI => 4k 60 Hz 4:4:4 (RGB)
It's possible to output to three 4k HDMI monitor at the same time.

(Monitor 4) Passive DP to HDMI => 1080P max

I use TOSHIBA REGZA 40J9X as my monitor.
It's a 4k 60 Hz 4:4:4 (RGB) capable TV but only available in JAPAN.

I can confirm the DVI-D to HDMI adapter is producing a 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 on my Samsung UN65JU7100 and a Samsung UN40JU6700 from a single Titan X card. I've used multiple tests to verify it is indeed 4:4:4 at 60hz. I'm trying to understand how though, since I thought DVI-D maxed out at 2560x1600 resolution.

there is no upper spec limit for Dual Link DVI pixel clock.
"it is know "
Overlord Tempest users have reached 2560x1440@120Hz over DL-DVI

some magic is happening either with the pixel clock or the DVI> HDMI transition, as, AFAIK, HDMI 2.0 is not supposed to directly receive dual link dvi signals.

Hey,can you give us a picture of your DVI-D to HDMI adapter?
Do you use DVI-D (female) to HDMI (male) with classic DVI-D cable or DVI-D male, hdmi (f) with HDMI 2.0 cable? I'll much appreciate if you could answer me,and picture of it would be nice! Thanks in advance!;)

I too am wondering about the adapter. Would any adapter that has all the pins (dual link dvi) work?
