What was your first OS and what is your favorit of all times would be?
If you ask me. my first OS was Windows 3.1. As for my favorite OS of all times. It was and still is Windows 2000. :)

TI- 99/4A 1979....
Whatever you would call their OS.. learned BASIC and Adv Basic using cassette drive back in the day on that. *MASSIVE* 16kb of ram yO! lol
After that was DOS on a 8086 Epson IBM clone. Around the same time was AmigaDOS on an Amiga 500.
Everything since basically lol

MS-DOS 3.x

I vividly remember upgrading to 5.

My commodore 64 was what made computers real for me. I had a trs-80 before that, but with no manuals, books, or friends who knew what it was , I didn't do much with it.

My first x86 machine ran MS DOS 3.3, which I upgraded to Dr. DOS...

My first was PC DOS on my dad's IBM PCjr.
Favorite: Win 3.1 on DOS 6.22, simple, fast, and looked good.

C64. Did my first assembler program with it. Oh lord do I wish I had internet back then. Most software books were antiquated and many code examples had printing errors that just drove you mad. Try to learn something when the practice example gives you errors and you don't yet understand even what the error means.

Amiga 3000 with OS 2.1, that was the first computer that was mine. We had a 286 with MS-Dos 3.xx or so but that was the family's PC.
My favorite is Windows 7. I installed it 5.5 years ago on 3 machines (first 3 in my sig) and it is still running great on them.
Oh, that Amiga was also the most expensive computer I have ever owned as well, had over $8K in it in 1994.

DOS 4.2.2. Of if you count school computers, whatever OS Apple 2Es have. Although I never got to play around with them and do whatever I wanted, just whatever programs we were taught to use.

My first actual PC had Windows 95 installed on it, good times, I miss the Windows 9x line, except Windows ME.

Commodore Basic / GEOS 1.2 on C64.

My favorite OS would be windows 98, booted to dos prompt, with the gui only loaded when I wanted it.

First PC was Dragon Tandy with DragonOS. Came with BASIC and you could run programs and play games from a cassette player. I would spend hours playing Zaxxon.

I, honestly, have no idea. Our first computer was an ancient 8086 powered monster with a green monochrome display lol. I vaguely remember playing games on it back then (I couldn't of been more than 4-5 years old), but I do remember it having two floppy drives... one for the OS and another for running software.

The OS was MS-DOS-like, but don't believe it was actually MS-DOS (either that or was running some sort of front end/shell)

Fist OS I actually learned was MS-DOS 2.1 IIRC (and X-Tree) when my family finally got a 286 PC :)

My first OS would have been whatever the Commodore 64 came with. My next one and my favorite OS was the Amiga OS 2.04. :) Although my first PC OS was Windows 3.1, my favorite PC OS of all time was and still is OS/2 Warp 3. I really do miss that OS.

TI99-4A with a cassette drive. Who could forget Hunt the Wumpus?

First OS I played around extensively with was Windows 3.1. First PC I ever purchased had Win 95 OSR2. Don't really have a favorite OS, but I was fond of Win 2000 back in its day.

AmigaOS on my Amiga500 and TOS on AtariST. Not sure which I got first.. had them about the same time.

DOS 3.3, later upgraded to DOS 6.22.

My favorite was Windows2000 also, especially those days when everything was still dominated by 9x and it actually took effort to get Windows 2000 setup and working well.

Similar to me I started on DOS 3.X had DOS 6.22 and really liked Windows2000, it performed really well when setup right and had less bloat than XP. I believe I stripped the installed size down to 500-800mb and ran pretty much the core OS and the few features I needed.

You know, As soon as i have found out there is Windows 2000. I was in shock after seeing it's clean GUI, stability it has. And the best part of is it's based on NT kernel.

+1 Windows 2000 was my favorite, my first OS was Windows 95 but I remember playing with DOS on my friend's computer

8502 BASIC 7.0 + Z80 CP/M 3.0
:)

MS-DOS 3.31 on an 8 MHz 8088 XT (1989)
...upgraded to 5.0, then to 6.22

Replaced the XT with a Am368SX-40 and kept using MS-DOS 6.22 (1992)

Replaced the 386 with a Cyrix 6x86 P133+ running Win95 (1996)

First was Windows 3.11 although school computers at the time had DOS still so it's kind of 50/50. Windows 3.11 at home and DOS at school.

My favorite of all time would probably be WIndows 95 (don't laugh) simply because it was the start of a beautiful era in computing and gaming. If we add in other factors then Windows XP for stability. I remember being so giddy when I had 3 days uptime. I felt like a linux user lol.

Sinclair ZX81 for a year or so
C64 for another year, started with Assembler, Peek and Poke
But than for many years on Atari TOS, GEM; even in my first real job I developed on that box. Man, do I miss MC68000 assembler. That was fun.
This makes TOS my sentimental favorite

Initially it was Windows 95, but it might as well be DOS because soon after I got my Windows 95 system I fucked it all up (like a proper amateur) and had to learn how to do things from DOS.
