Watch Dogs

Go to your data folder and delete the two patch files.
You'll need to reinstall the official update though, the mod overwrites them.

Mouse accel fix:
There's a new option called DisableMouseDamping in the GamerProfile, set that to 1 and the acceleration is gone.

This one actually works.

along with running in borderless window mode, and that actually seems to have solved nearly all stuttering for right now

what does 'Borderless Window' actually mean?...I changed it from Fullscreen to Borderless Window and it looks exactly the same as Fullscreen...

windowed would show the game in a window, borderless means just that--it removes any visible border so it looks full screen. If you had multiple monitors and were playing on one screen, you could move your mouse out of the window without alt-tabbing.

at least that's how it's worked in other games for me.

In some games running the game in a window makes the game run smoother than fullscreen. Titanfall, Dragon Age 2, and Max Payne are prime examples. It has something to do with the game's internal refresh rate being slightly different from your desktop one. Borderless fullscreen essentially makes the game look fullscreen even though it's in a window.

I tried it in Watch Dogs and it doesn't make any difference for me.

so Borderless Window looks exactly the same as Fullscreen?...no resizing, shrinking etc of the images?

Borderless Window has pretty much eliminated all stutter for me...was getting bad stutter while driving fast in Fullscreen but now it looks severely reduced if not eliminated altogether

You can't adjust in-game brightness when you're using a window/borderless.
So depending on your settings, it won't look the same.

I usually set my Brightness once in the game options and don't touch it again so not being able to adjust it in-game is not a big deal for me

Seems I still get it, usually after playing for 10-15 minutes or so. Thought it was completely eliminated, apparently I didn't play long enough the first time after using the fixes. Maybe some kind of memory leak?

People used to release graphical upgrade mods and you knew what you were getting.
I see half a dozen of them on Guru3D, and W_D is such a mixed bag I bet half of these actually make graphics worse.

People are getting better performance from TheWorse's mod because it breaks enough performance-related things that increase your frame rate as a result. He's just covered everything with bloom and blur, so you don't notice.

I think I'm just going to finish the game as vanilla (no mods) and all of these "modders" can piss off.

Lost it? That's funny... I think they have no damn idea about what they're doing anyways.

Nope.. I was interested when they first started then it became very apparent they were completely clueless what they were doing.. Then they both went full herpa derp and started changing values just for the sake of changing values.. I can't believe people are still fawning over their mods.. It's snake oil with a new skin.

Now everyone wants attention and is trying to release "something". You have a guy over there even "designing" OPs for the mods and versioning them.. I'm not even kidding.

That's the reason why I stuck with graphics tweak tool. I turned on options that were already available in the config file. Everything looks good with minimal lag.

What I don't get is how everyone is up their ass, thinking they're gods for blurring everything and raising bloom up the ass. It's just hilarious how everyone hates Ubisoft for downgrading the graphics, then they start drooling over a screenshot that's blurred to hell.

If you're going to hate Ubisoft, hate them for the shitty performance this game gets, not for the graphics you feel you lost.

Exactly.. This is my favorite post so far.

When I pointed out how awful his "modded" one with "object texturing" looked compared to the first (his old mod, which is essentially Vanilla) he blamed it on time of day.. lol.. SweetFX couldn't even help that hot mess. Blur, reduce colors, and whatever else they do.. Everyone is = OMG THAT"S TOTALLY REAAL DUDE

so does the new patch actually do anything?

My observations

It's pouring rain in unrealistic buckets for what seems almost all the time
Stuttering is worse
Tree animation is ruined
Wind affects nothing anymore it seems
Aliasing if you apply the Maldo stutter fix
Blur... Everywhere... Blur
Crappy unnecessary color grading

Other buzzword crap they claim but I've never actually seen.

have you tried the SweetFX mod?...I think that looks pretty close to stunning...daytime flaws show more but it still looks much improved over the vanilla version...and nighttime looks amazing, especially with the rain effects and lighting

some examples...

The mod's texture patch comes courtesy of MaLDo, the wizard responsible for enhancing Crysis 2. It updates Watch Dogs' 'High' texture setting to use 'Ultra' textures without mipmaps, thereby reducing the stuttering effect that can happen on GPUs with 2GB of VRAM.

Here's a changelist for what's new in v0.8:

  • Choose if you want a light DOF, a strong DOF, or to be Default (disabled)
  • Choose different bloom presets (E3 Bloom, Light Bloom or Default)
  • Choose different types of colour grading (E3, Default, Red-Ish or Blue-Ish)
  • Choose if you want default lensflares, anamorphic lensflares or SpotLight Volumes (volumetric light)
  • Use a texture patch made by MalDo (Thank you so much!) for reducing stuttering!
  • Headlight shadows have been fixed
  • Lighting have been changed
  • Pharmacy Lighting has been slightly changed.
  • E3 Wind environment added
  • Particle respawn time reduced to be able to see more fog and smoke in streets.
  • Problems and Bugs related to HDR should be fixed
  • Fully integrated to Ubisoft's patch (No effects or shaders have been disabled)
  • Included several high textures from the game to be used instead of low quality ones.
  • Rain, bloom, ssao changes

It also breaks wind effects in the game; Aiden's coat doesn't move anymore, objects on the ground don't blow around, trees are glitching out. The lens flare feature doesn't work, it breaks car headlights if you enable it.
And these are just the bugs we managed to find in 1 day. :p

It's funny a mod that's supposed to make the game look like E3 actually makes it look worse than vanilla.

Here's a new mod to test if you're feeling adventurous.

I'm wondering how well that new mod works. The mod creator recommends using supersampling, which is great, but I don't think that's going to help with the performance issues.

The idea of modding a game like this...I don't know.

You play through it and you're done with it. It's not jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but it's generally not bad, either. Why spend any energy modding it?

Here's a mod to make it rain permanently.

The file needs to be packed into patch.dat/.fat using the LUA script and decompiler (guru3d):
Packer/Unpacker: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=390244
Guide to using it: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=390238

File goes here:

Works with all mods, fixes the wind problems with WorseMod (since you're using a non-broken wind file). Also works with the Ubisoft patch.
You can actually combine WorseMod with the original wind file, and the Ubisoft patch, to fix all of Worse's previous problems. Why hasn't he done it yet? Who knows, it takes literally 30 seconds to do.

yeah same here...Borderless Window eliminated stutter for some time but then it returned same as before...a lot of people on other message boards do say that using Borderless severely reduces stuttering

because people are convinced that they can bring back the E3 level of graphics and are determined to do it...plus modding a game to go from very good to jaw dropping would be nice

I couldn't care less about the new features of these mods beyond hopefully making the game stutter less. That's really all I want.

Reducing stutter (with mods) also involves making the game look worse.
MalDo's mod does it, but it messes with texture LoD.

same here...the game looks great as is in my opinion (with the SweetFX mod)...I want to see the stutter issue fixed but it looks like the only people that can fix this are Ubisoft...they need to patch the game...modders can only do so much...it's up to the developers to fix major performance issues

I think I finally solved most of the stuttering, but I had to set texture quality to high even though I have a 3GB card. So it obviously doesn't look as good now.

I must be one of the 10 people that actually likes this game...it's a lot of fun...repetitive missions but fun...the hacking aspect can get old but it's still well implemented...wish there were more environmental things to hack besides the steam pipes, bridges, barriers etc

Same here. It's a good game that could have been great.

It's my favorite urban/crime open-world game of all time on PC, so far.
Better than IV. Better than Sleeping Dogs.

Although content-wise, GTA:SA is still probably #1. Even GTA 5 doesn't beat it.

Environment I loved GTAIII, but I think that is mostly nostalgia, but content wise I love Vice City, running (driving) around the mall and beating up the "Wannabe" gang (listed as #1 target in my stats).
