The first 24 hours of Xbox One availability broke all Xbox sales records and possibly could have been even higher, but available stock sold out quickly at participating retailers. In the 24 hour period, Microsoft sold more than one million units in 13 worldwide markets.

“Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season.”

no shit they sold out only a silly person wouldn't expect both ps4 and xbox1 to sell out in all markets they were available in.

I wonder if they sold more than the PS4 if you only count North America. Didn't the PS4 sell over a million units in the first 24 hours only counting North America? (Or did I read that headline wrong last week?)

That may just be because Sony had more in supply. MS was still tweaking late in the game, iirc. So it's possible it had an adverse effect on how many units they could get shipped to distributors.

No you are correct.
PS4 sold 1 million+ only in NA.
Xbone 1 million+ in 13 countries.

Theres no doubt that PS4 will sell 1 million more next week when it is released in Europe.

Doubtful they have that much stock likely both ps4 and xbox one had about 1.2 million in stock to distribute after the couple months of build up. Now they continue to make and ship consoles but they wont have one million lying around.

Counting North America and Canada the 2 markets it launched in. But seriously that's like 99.99% pre order numbers. Just like with all console launches now of days.

Umm.. their culturally diverse politically correct publicity photo is missing some demographics.. women and the elderly must be shown enjoying the bliss that is XB1 or the marketing isnt going to beat Sony's.

Its part of the reason for a delayed launch.
People in Europe are saying just that, so I guess we will see next week.

how many of those 1 mill are getting sent back cause of the faulty disk drive? from the looks of it it is at least double digit % points.

There's no way it's double digit percentages. 10% would mean 100,000 consoles with bad disc drives. I think we'd see a lot more bitching if that were the case.

This forum is full of them then. Seemed from previous threads a good percent of the people on here were convinced that the Xbox One wasn't going to sell at all. Think I noticed a post a day or two ago from somebody saying they could see them maybe being able to sell 250,000 but no way would they get anywhere above 500,000. Many others have claimed that nobody out there still wanted the Xbox One and that most people have decided to get a PS4 instead.

Makes sense to some of us, but not all.

But ps4 didn't sell out. Stores still got them oh snap :D

Like always depends on where you are. Some areas might have sold out slower or not at all, others might have sold out fast. I recall last release being like that. Things like the Wii which most people couldn't find anywhere for a year, some places had 10 on a shelf the entire time. There was a target with 3 Xbox Ones still yesterday night by me. Everywhere else was sold out right at midnight with people still waiting them. So sometimes it just works out that people want the systems, but don't know where to find them to get them thinking they are sold out everywhere and don't realize that a single store still has them.

how many of those 1 mill are getting sent back cause of the faulty disk drive? from the looks of it it is at least double digit % points.

It seemed really horrible with the PS4 at first also and their issues. But after a short while became apparent it wasn't as bad as it seemed but was a reasonable percent.

Probably will be the same and only be about 1%

Target is always a good place to find stock, for games, i find like day one pre-order stuff at targets all the time. They get pre-order shipments but few people pre-order from there.

One by me normally doesn't have the best selection for games. Although I also don't go there much for them so they might be like that when new ones come out. I normally go to either Best Buy for games as they have the largest selection around me, or Walmart. Check Target after that, and then gamestop last if I have no other choice and really want something.

Of COURSE MS would claim OVER one million consoles sold. They are spreading the veggies all over the plate.....

Personally, I really do want an Xbox one. However, since, I use my computer for everything off my TV, it just would not be ultimately worth it. Besides, I would need to spend at least $800 out the door just to get started. (I just spent half of that on a XFX R9 290.) I like the interface and the final starting of voice control like in Back to the Future Part II. Sounds like folks like to use baby toys, eh? (For those who remember the movie, I am sure you remember the reference I just did.)

They don't have a good selection but say i wanted a pre-order item/collections edition for a game that just released. I'm likly to find a copy at target. Infact i went to my target (buy some gift wrapping paper) they had 1 xbox1 and 2 PS4s on display. The point is that they get hot items but people don't think to shop at target for games, they think Gamestop, Best Buy, Walmart. So it's a great place to pick up such items.

It's not really how it works, each company is pumping out probably around 1 mil a month, now to get it to market takes anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 weeks depending on market. They been in production since about September so they maybe had 1.2 mil ready to hit the shelves if they made it to the stores on launch day. PS4 and Xbox1 numbers are bound to be identical because they are bound to be nearly always sold out in any markets and they have similar production/get to shelf time. This will likely follow till 2014, by around March their numbers should start to deviate assuming one system is favored over another. Which is also why it's unlikely ps4 will hit another million off Europe they wont likely have the stock at the stores by then.

Thank you.

This is one of the dumbest fucking things I have heard. Who cares where they are sold. 1 million units is one mil units. They didn't say in the US, they said that they sold over 1 mil

Everyone has their different wants and needs. I don't want a truck, I mean I can fit 5 people into my car and get good mpgs. Why would I want a truck since my car does everything I want. Doesn't mean that others don't want trucks.

I guess the point was that because the PS4 was sold in a smaller geographical region that means that it sold better in that geographical region, which is technically true. But as pointed out, each company at this point is probably selling them as fast as they can make them and that it will take several months to establish what the steady state is.

But no claim about the region was made. The comment is Over 1 Million Xbox Ones were old. That is it. This person then starts bitching about how Microsoft shouldn't claim they sold that many since they sold to more areas.

The last point you made there is correct, they are selling as fast as they can make them, Microsoft just decided to spread their supply out to give more people a chance to get it at the start instead of aiming at only one area at a time. Sony was more focused.

But that has nothing to do with numbers, it is a basic concept to understand. If company A sells X of an item then they sold X of an item. Doesn't matter if it was all in your home town or where they did it, they sold X of an item.

It's ms "butt hurt," a lot of posters here have it bad.

I get hard to find stuff there all the time. There are 3 Targets within easy distance of me too. I found multiple Wiis there back when they were impossible to find in the holiday season.

half of these 1 million units will be on ebay the next day.
Xbox one is essentially locked into it's launch counties off the reliance of XboxGold the PS4 is the one to sell on ebay(although PS+ wont work till their country is added)

I am not really sure what you are getting at, that you like cars more than trucks? That my computer is a truck and an Xbox one is a car? Essentially, since I have only one TV, no TV service, a high end gaming, Bluray, movie, internet surfing, work if need be computer that has Windows 8.1 Pro and Skype, buying an Xbox one for myself would be a waste. (I refuse to buy something just because I want it because I know it would end up collecting dust. That is taking into account that I think the Xbox one is a good machine.)

Now I'm waiting for games... I have a PS4 sitting unopened in its box because no games yet lol

Unless I did not understand your comment correctly you are saying that because you don't want a Xbox One that nobody should want one and is stupid for wanting / getting one. I was trying to point out that just because you personally don't want or need one doesn't mean that it doesn't fit a need / want for others.

Why did you buy it?

I could see that, maybe he bought one to have it now while he would get one to get some game coming out soon. I somewhat did the same thing for the Xbox One. There really wasn't any launch games that I wanted so I just got Ryse: Son of Rome to get something. I didn't originally plan on getting one, just happen to be at the store around the release time and heard them say they found a few more so they could let a few more people in line. I decided it would probably be easier to get one now than trying to wait another 3 or so months and trying to find one. That said, I would open any launch system now, and at a very least install the updates and make sure it works.

Umm, it sounds to me like you are just trying to start something or perhaps you are just being defensive about the Xbox one, not sure which though. I suggest going back and reading my posts and show me evidence of what you are saying. Thankfully, I base my purchases on what I want and need, not on what someone may think or not think is the in thing.

I want an Xbox One but cannot justify spending $800 on something I know I will not get full use out of. I have a Windows Phone 8 phone, desktop at home with Windows 8.1 Pro, desktop at work with Windows 8.1 Pro and a tablet with Windows 8.1 Pro. An Xbox one would fit well into this setup except that I am not going to go out and spend that kind of money after just spending $400 on a video card.

I have one TV at home and used to own a PS/2, Xbox 360 and original Xbox. I also have my computer hooked to that same TV and no other monitors in the house. I got rid of the PS/2 and 360 because they collected dust and fun as they were. I just do not have the money to own something just because like I used to when I was in my 20's. Perhaps next year when used games start showing up or sales are done. Until then, have fun.

I got my Xbox on Friday and i have to say i love it :) RYSE is just fantastic to play. The graphics look insane and im running a pc with a GTX 780 to compare it with.

Regardless of XBOX ONE or PS4 both consoles are a marked improvement from the last. I just picked Xbox over PS because i really hated my PS3 dead twice on me before throwing it out(then upgraded to xbox 360), and the interface on Xbox i feel is far better. Also xbox can just seems like xbox can do so much more then ps4 can.

Neither of those actually. Guess I just miss understood the point some of your first post. In the ongoing pc vs console debate too many people overlook that people have different desires / uses for a system and that both can have their place. I took the part about it being worthless and the quote about "Sounds like folks like to use baby toys, eh?" being anticonsole.

I also never said that you should want one or buy one. That was the point of my trunk post. Just because I don't want a truck doesn't mean everyone else should have the same want or need. There is nothing wrong with you not buying one, just as there is nothing wrong with somebody buying one. Everyone will have different wants and needs. Some people are fine with only PC games, some are fine with console games, and some like to play both.

My point is that Microsoft has to resort to bullshit tactics to come back and say "we sold a million consoles too!" so they wont look like they are not selling as well as the PS4.

That babies toys quote was from the back to the future part 2. When Marty was playing Wild Gunman and the kids said you had to use your hands, that like a babies toy. :D I was referring to the fact that voice control is finally starting to become somewhat more of a reality with the release of the Xbox One. (Of course, it is no where near the level of that movie just yet though.)

How is it bull shit tactics? Like another person said, you are just butt hurt by MS. I am sorry that your mom sucked off Bill Gates and didn't get anything for doing so or whatever your issue is.

Both Consoles are doing well, both consoles are even in sales, both just took different release routes. Doesn't change how well both are selling.

Because they aren't so they should conceal their sale numbers? The fuck kind of point is that, xbox was released second so it has no point to say it's numbers?
