Total War: Rome 2

Same! Pre-loaded last night but I'll be away until Friday so won't get to play it :( Might come back Wednesday haha.

Ya guys think that there would be a good deal for Rome 2 during the winter sale?

It would have been on the market for three months by then so I think it's possible. Maybe at $25 or close to it.

I about to pre order this but wanted to make sure that I'm getting the best deal. If I pre order through gmg will I get all the dlc available ? Is there another place I should check out?

As far as I know, yes.

You get two different keys when you preorder from GMG, one for TW: R2 and one for the release day DLC.

I preordered through them this morning before work and loaded both Steam Keys fine into my Steam library.

for those that can wait and plan to get a new AMD card this winter, Rome 2 along with BF4, Watchdogs were on the leaked AMD never settle bundle so its possible you can get this game for free with a new 9XXX series gpu in a few months

That's a long wait!

This is one of those games where I need It day one. Others I'll wait, but I've waited long enough for this

Enjoying Rome 1 more than I am Shogun or Empire...

I'll wait till never settle bundle :D

Awesome news !:D

Early reviews are coming in decent, which is promising as this style of game doesn't appeal to everyone.

I really wish reviewers would say what the specs are of the machine they played the game on. It doesn't do me much good to know you're above the recommended specs when that leaves so much room for variation.

i dont think you have to worry about its performance with your pc. unless you planned to play it on the laptop.

9 hours 15 minutes to unlock

You're probably right, I'm just slightly concerned since I play at 2560 x 1600. The Total War games are pretty much the only things I play anymore so it would be painful to have to add another 780 to run it at some of the higher settings.

I have tried to avoid gaming on laptops after I realized how quickly gaming laptops end up outdated. This laptop is a word processing machine! (Although I guess it does have a 650M... but way too many pixels to push.)

I thought this was funny. Most reviewers haven't even played the game for an hour.

Should be a crime to write a review off less than an hour. Hell less that 5 is sketchy.

I'll probably pick this up on Christmas, I've enjoyed most of the Total Wars.(Started with Rome and skipped Shogun 2 since I don't really care for that setting).

Grar. Still at work and raring to play. I enjoyed most of the TW series and played anyway despite the teething bugs in many of them.

Empire, Rome and Medieval I found the most fun to play despite spending a lot of time with Shogun II. Empire had a lot of promise but didn't deliver ingame.

Let's hope this doesn't disappoint.

Well, my big first impression from a quick battle is that the battle interface is decidedly...minimalistic...and will take some getting used to. Graphics are very good and my machine (i7-2600K w/ GTX 670 4GB) didn't chug too badly with everything maxed. Loading times seem a lot faster than the previous TW iterations.

Tried a coastal battle. You choose from both naval and land forces and manage the fight in both arenas. Melee and missile troops ships can beach and offload their units to help on land. AI ship management seemed horrific, everything turned into a giant clusterfark really quick. As with previous TW games, everything moves/resolves ridiculously quick. Too bad there will be no DarthMod for this one.

Anyone else getting bad performance?

2600k
8gb ram
GTX 580

I'm getting just around 30'ish fps give or take even if I turn AA off, shadows to just high, terrain to high, etc.

Getting around 15-25 frames on the Carthage battle on a i7 930 and a 7950 @ 2560x1600 with everything on. Seems *just* playable.

Only played for a few minutes, but not loving the interface

Yeah, I can't see why on earth they "ditched" the "minimal" option.

I loved that in Empire, I used it over the default one because really, who gives a crap about all the "fluff" on the UI panes ? I just need to see my army icons in as little space as possible and nothing more.

So do you guys normally play the single player, multi player or the wars part? Have been getting into Shogun 2 for the last year now, and even though I stopped in between I restarted a few days ago and am really enjoying the replayability. I also added FoTS and thats given it a lot more gameplay. But I normally play the single player campaign.

I actually played quite a bit MP in Shogun two, I found it very fun.

Sadly, for some strange reason they seem to have decided to completely and utterly do away with ALL that shogun 2 brought to the MP game.

There's no more persistant "avatar/general" that you use in your battle sonline and gain exp with, there's no more skill tree's or anything like that.

Personally I wish they'd have kept the avatar and cosmetic unlocks (IMO gameplay shouldn't be affected like it was online, it made it hard for new players to fight against vets when they had such a large advantage).

Just played for a few minutes. Having played the original I was very happy for this. I will say they did a very very good job at details of the units. I will have to play the co-op party later today.
