The Best Mice Thread (ongoing)

I currently have a Death Adder 3G, RAT 7, and a new G400 that I just bought. The tracking on the Death Adder and G400 is definitely better than the RAT 7 however, the RAT 7's build quality is better and I love the thumb wheel. I just wished Mad Catz used a better sensor than the Philip's twin eye
Is that the latest version of the 3G D.A.? That has reportedly similar tracking compared with a 3.5G D.A.

I've had a G700 for the past two years. A very good rodent.

G700s looks like a decent mouse, I don't know enough about it's tracking quality though.

Sensei, Naos 8200, Zowie seem to be the direction I'm leaning in to replace my venerable G9x though.

I was very disappointed by the G700s announcement. The extra DPI is nothing noteworthy and the new graphic design is ugly in my opinion. You might be better off getting a G700 since it is cheaper.

You might want to read about the Sensei — it was originally the mouse I wanted until I found out about the sensor issues in regards to mousepads.

Hmm, only thing I could find on the mousepad issue was a youtube video that seems to indicate it doesn't like soft mouse pads... Is this the issue you're referring to? If that's the only issue, I was thinking about getting one of those new Corsair alu surfaces anyway.

As far as logitech goes... I've used their peripherals for close to 20 years at this point, but they seem to be dropping the ball since the (thoroughly excellent) G9x for mice. Don't have any experience with the G700, but people seem to like it. It seems strange to me that there's so little exposure for the G700s. No-one seems to be selling it, Logitech doesn't have a product page for it yet (unless it's an overseas thing), and the only review I can find is the capsule review over at anandtech... It is definitely ugly though, I don't think my keyboard would want to be seen with it. :p

When I bought my Sensei Raw (and then my Sensei immediately after), I picked up a SteelSeries 9HD to go with it. It's huge and perfect for the Sensei. I also tried it with a Ratpadz XT and an old Steelseries steel mousepad (which I don't think they make anymore...it was one of their first products) and it worked great with both.

Of course, they're all hard mousepads, but that's my preference to begin with. Though I'm hesitant to call the 9HD "hard", since compared to a Ratpadz or steel sheet, it's rather flexible. But you can't roll it up and it doesn't just flop around, so I suppose it's not "soft".

I have to say, the comfort, design, and engineering of the mouse are only half the picture. The software is also top notch, and I love the feature that's basically inverse acceleration: when you don't make large movements, it slows the pointer down to a degree you can configure. This is wonderful for things like FPSes.

FWIW, the Mionix Naos 8200 Surface Analyzer gave the Razer Scarab a 90% rating.

I tried a Steelseries SX (??) once and it felt beyond awesome. IIRC, $60 or something outrageous like that.

Still going strong with my Rat 5 and my G400

Yes that is the issue with the Sensei. It can be very picky with the surface you use it on; I've read some people mentioning the same issue on some hard pads too. From all the complaints I decided to go with Zowie Gear instead because the AM and FK are notorious for being reliable, having no prediction and low LoD.

lol. I used a Logitech 550 forever. Just couldn't see spending the money for an expensive mouse, mousepad, and keyboard worth it. Just about how sharp you want/think your edge can be.

Big fan of the G700 here.

I really really wanted to like the G700/G700s, but the gravel like texture on the sides was awful...

I wish Mionix or Steelseries would do a good wireless mouse (WoW mouse does not count).

Recently had to replace my SS Ikari Laser after the right mouse button started sticking (got a solid three/four years out of it though). I tried the Deathadder 2013 and while I loved the shape I just felt like it was about to fall apart on me any second. Got a Logitech G400 since I loved my old MX518 but the LOD and mouse wheel weren't right for me. Finally ordered a Zowie FK and EC1 Evo. Probably going to keep them both for now as I like them so much. The FK has the best coating I have ever felt on a mouse also.

I have a Sensei RAW with the 4HD mouse pad, myself. I'm really enjoying both together, and would gladly purchase them again. I'm not a serious gamer, so I can definitely see there being a demand for a more 'feature rich' mouse. But for someone who is a casual gamer that wants a quality device, I think I made a decent choice.

At the end of the day, people are going to recommend what they've bought to justify their purchase. I could easily see myself picking up a different brand of mouse / mouse pad and being equally as happy. I think as long as you do your research and understand what you're looking for in a mouse / what you are willing to pay you will be happy with what you get!

I disagree with your first sentence in that it can simply be a recommendation from good experience with a product. I wholeheartedly concur with the rest though.

I own an Ikari laser and wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

I own a G400 and can't stand it, but recommend it to anyone that likes its shape.

I own the Mionix Naos 8200 and wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for that perfect sensor.

Logitech G600 is what i've been using lately. Feels nice, the side buttons unlike the razer naga have an establishing feel to them so you KNOW what you're pressing with your thumb. It feels great.

Price being equal, is there any quality or performance distinction between CM Storm and Thermaltake Tt eSports for mice?

Another vote for the G700. I like that I can use it wired or wireless depending on my mood / circumstances. Bought 4 of them for my different computers / work spaces.

The CM Storm Spawn has arguably the best sensor currently available, so any comparison with the TT eSports offerings will find them lacking unless you simply can't claw grip your mice, as the Spawn is fairly small and other grips don't work well on it.

I picked up a Steelseries Kana for $25 on clearance today and am pretty happy with it so far, will post more later.

Im starting to believe this Sensei Raw is the most accurate mouse Ive ever used. I could do eye surgery with the sensor on this thing! I wish it was just a tiny little bit bigger though.

I don't understand why people like the sensi raw so much. I have 2 Steelseries Sensi Raw and 1 CM Storm Recon. All three mice use Omron Micro switches, and all three mice have a click problem where one mouse click often does a double click (like clicking twice).

Not good.

Been using the DA 3G for awhile and thinking of getting another mouse. So far I'm thinking Sensei RAW, Roccat Kone Pure, or Zowie AM? I love the DA but the thumb buttons get in the way sometimes where accidentally click it with my thumb.

I went from the DA 3G to the Kone XTD. took a small break in period since I used the DA for so long, but the XTD is much better. I would hate to go back. interesting feature that I thought was cheesy but actually really like.... when you switch DPI, you can have the software give you and audible indicator. really nice. you don't have to look at your hand to see a light or anything.

theres something about the razer taipan..for one im left handed and it works either way, its also relatively sleek and slim :)

The g9 and g9x is the most comfortable mouse i've ever used...so much that I bought a couple with the ugly mw3 edition grips so I have backups in case any break.

I think I prefer the g9x over the sensi RAW for several reasons. It is more comfortable, it works on more surfaces (it works on the Icemat, the RAW does not), and it does NOT have the double click problem that the sensi RAW has.

My only problem with the g9x has been that I seem to wear it out fairly fast. But then this may just be me. For example, I wear out mice much faster than my brother even though he uses his just as much as I use mine.

Just picked up a DeathAdder 2013 from Best Buy for $57 off price match to Amazon and I LOVE this thing! Im not so sure I love the sand paper texture of the grip but its still as comfortable as my DeathAdder 3G and it is a little easier to control with the textured grip. The sensor is surgical! I think its better than the 3G's by a noticeable margin. I tried the calibration but think I liked it a little better with it turned off. Could just be my imagination though.

Hate that the lighting is green though because now it doesnt match my BlackWidow Ultimate. Guess Ill have to buy a new version of the BWU now so my OCD wont drive me crazy. :D

**edit**

After a few more hours with this thing I am certain now that it is my all time favorite mouse! I own a G9, G400, G500, G700, Sensei Raw and DeathAdder 3G and Ill take this thing over any of them. I strongly recommend this mouse, even to current owners of the 3G and 1800 dpi DeathAdders. This thing is that good IMO.

Has anyone used the Mionix Naos 3200?

I actually bought this mouse a week ago. It was on sale on newegg for $30 . I hate to say Im cheap, but, I am. I just cant see spending over 40 on a mouse. That all said, I love this mouse. My hand fits comfortably on it, my pinky even. Its comfortable and real smooth. I play a MMO and haven't played with the macro thing yet. It doesn't jerk around. I really really like it, better than my old mx518 I had

I bought a gigabyte m6800 that I thought was similar to the mx518 logitech I had a long time ago(really loved that mouse), but, it wasnt. Even though it wasnt, it feels good, just not big enough. It is smooth to. (btw I bought it for 15.00 =) )

I am really impressed not having heard of this company before.

Really there aren't any better mice than the Logitech MX Perfomance and Evoulent mices if you want good ergonomic at the current.

Really believe me!

^Logitech needs to go back to using two batteries for their wireless mice so you don't need to charge it once every 4 days.

I have the G700. The only thing I believe is missing is the weighted clutched mouse wheel scroll from the VX revolution. I had that mouse wheel clutch dialed in so perfectly that I thought it was the best feature on any new mouse. Now none of the models have it.

The sample rate is much better on the G700 than the VM revolution and it has enough buttons to suit me.

Anyone know if the SS kana or Sensei feels like the intellimouse 1.1?
If you are only looking for the shape the Steelseries aren't too far off, if you want better tracking as well I would recommend looking at Zowie Gear's products.
