Showing off his new toy? Check. Blocking the subway door to make sure everyone has to see your new toy? Check. Head stuck in not one, but two digital devices at the same time? Check. Starbucks drink? Check. Is it just me, or does it feel like these guys are intentionally feeding into the whole "glassholes" stereotype?

Viewing that picture makes me want to do violence.

He does look like a douche. But why is everyone so up in arms about Google glass? I thought this was an anti apple, pro android/googleplex site? Or are you just waiting for the Microsoft version to come out? :)

Apple Users v2.0: Google Glass? I hardly see a difference between using a new toy in public and buying phone cases specifically designed to show off the Apple logo on the back so people KNOW you're using an iPhone.

It's all fun and games till someone gets mugged for his hightech toys.

He's not blocking the door though. He's on the 7 local line and he's on the opposite side of the train where the doors don't open.

I kind of lump folks sporting that look into the same category as those who go out in public to be seen sporting trendy bluetooth earpieces hanging out of the side of their heads... Somewhat douchey and "hey, look at me!" all rolled together. Until such devices are actual implants that cannot be seen, I think this stigma will continually follow folks around.

Someone is going to mug that douche.Hell if I'm on that bus it might be me.

I'm surprised the muggers didn't get him. Maybe they can tell it's not an Apple product?

Am I the only one wondering why standing in front of the subway door makes him a glasshole? At least in LA, our subways are always shoulder-to-shoulder during rush hour. It's the dickheads that try to push their way into the train as people are trying to get out who are assholes.

Glasshole= Anti-marketing by Apple and other cellphone makers who are scared they'll be left behind.

Just my opinion.

Every demographic will have it's percentage of peacocking. Given the type of person who may seem more likely to own this device (dorky/geeky), societal acceptance may match that of high school (little do glassholes know).

I agree about Glasshole just being marketing to scare off people and companies who don't understand it.

the people doing the name calling have bigger issues, most likely...

"glassholes" stereotype
Actually, these are hipsters.
Tablet wielding, techno-wannabees who don't know their ass from a refresh rate, but because they "have technology", they think they actually understand it.

Kind of like "The Big Bang Theory" series.
Those aren't nerds, and I can't believe it's even a 'cool' thing to pretend to be one, considering that nerds actually know things, the people in the show don't know shit.

When the hell did our society turn into an anti-cyberpunk, white/sterile, wannabee society???

Hell yeah!

Oh lord no... and fuck those shitty early 2000's designer colors! This is 2013, not 2002!!!

So, looking at your phone on a subway with a coffee makes you a douche?

Well then.

Without anyone pointing out that those were Google Glasses I wouldn't have noticed. Seems to me like the OP is just a tad jealous.

I'd think that after being a member here almost 9 years you'd realize that titles/descriptions of the posts in this forum are often written as sensationally as tabloids. At least, that's how it has appeared to me.

Nice stretch there. I want to hear more about random shows and how some sitcom is shallow... it's a fucking sitcom, it's targeted at the largest possible audience (aka retards).

My experience as well.

I was addressing the twitter post, not a post made here.

I would like a google glass but in all honesty I am already overloaded with informational input, I'll just end up ignoring stuff and it will just sit on my shelf just like my Windows Tablet and other toys. I have very little social interaction as it is I don't need to be alienated more.

To me, wearing something like google glass is like texting while driving; narcissistic assholes who think they have so much going on in their lives they must be connected constantly throughout the day. Whats that? Cant wait 30 seconds to see a new twitter post or whatever the hell Glass transmits to your eyeball? Oh it's because I'm sure you're so important that you simply must be able to respond. It's just the whole pretentious side of it all, like the people who talk at full volume on bluetooth ear pieces in public and so forth. None of those things ever caught on and neither will this.

doing all that is fine.

But when the train stops, you'd better not act oblivious, and get the fuck outta my way

Looks like he is using it as intended. If the apps are there I will gladly accept being a Glasshole.

Looks like a hipster douche to me. ;)

Every person in that photo looks like a hipster.
Was that a convention?

As for the glasshole thing....as soon as muggers figure out how much those glasses are worth, there will be a market for stapling or welding the glasses to your head.:eek:
